  1. Well, I was gonna say Penelope Pitstop... but since she is not one of the options... As much as I love Betty Boop, I think the _sexiest_ cartoon character from your options would have to be Catwoman. Meow.
  2. Questions that would arise from what? A picture of the President on the wall with other Presidents Yeah, I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean either... From what little info we have, it sounds like she got screwed...
  3. Ok... Can I have some photos??? In fact, I want pictures of Wendy and the inflatable party sheep too.
  4. So... because you're not gay, being gay is not natural???
  5. And a heterosexual human race that multiplies like bunnies will most likely lose too. I don't think running out of humans will be one of our major concerns anytime soon. Marriage (legal marriage, not religious marriage) should be a basic right afforded to any consenting adults who wish to enter into such a contract. A gay marriage should affect your life no more than your jumping from El Capitan (or any other illegal object) affects anyone else's life.
  6. From another story that has a bit more information, this part is interesting: But it also says something about her refusing to ever discuss the picture with anyone, and the school officials telling her it was ok to have the picture there as long as she would "address questions that arise because of it." Hmm, who knows... Full story here: http://www.c-n.com/news/c-n/story/0,2111,1068715,00.html
  7. Oh, I can think of more than five open-minded people here... I'm not gonna start naming names, but definitely more than five. To me it seems there are just a handful of people who come across with hatred, sarcasm and personal attacks... Again, I'm not gonna name any names... (And I'm not gonna call anyone's political views "warped" just because they're different than mine.) Just curious... since you feel so negative about Speaker's Corner and the people who post in here, why do you even bother to read this forum... much less post in it???
  8. Yes, I seem to recall there being fairly civil political discussions at one time in talkback. Then certain people came along who had to jump into all the political/religious threads only to loudly complain about how we shouldn't be discussing such things on a skydiving website. (Fair enough, so sangiro nicely gives us a new forum for such discussions.) But it's funny how some of those same people now post so often in Speaker's Corner. People who are open-minded probably learn a little from Speaker's Corner. People who are close-minded probably don't learn much from anywhere. But anyone who is posting here for the purpose of convincing anyone of anything is probably gonna be horribly disappointed.
  9. Ok... I've got one ready and waiting...
  10. Yes, I looked at the picture. And I think she should be allowed to have a picture of the President hanging up... and that Kerry's picture does not belong with the other Presidents unless he is elected. I'm just saying there's not enough info in that story to know exactly what took place and what caused the problem with the parents - sounds like there might be more to it than just a picture hanging there. As we all know, the media will twist a story to cause whatever reaction they hope to get from it. The story that John posted a link to didn't mention anything about her being a volunteer for the Bush campaign - not that that necessarily has anything to do with it, but it's interesting that they chose to leave out that little bit of information.
  11. The fact that she is a volunteer with the Bush campaign makes it look like there might be more to her motives than just "hanging up a picture of the President", but who knows... Not enough info in this story to know exactly what happened.
  12. Yeah, I gotta get that bull whip action down though... Then I can start charging for my services...
  13. You don't annoy me, Sunny, but I will whoop your ass. Do you prefer a wooden paddle, a riding crop, a flogger, a bare hand, or a bull whip? (I'm not very accurate with the bull whip, so you might get more than just your ass whooped with that one.)
  14. Well, it looks like you got your wish. He was not the first to reply in this post. And now that you mention it, he's never the first to post in any of MY threads... In fact, I don't know if he's EVER posted in one of my threads. Now I feel so unloved. But still, I vote we keep AggieDave. He seems like a cool dude even if he doesn't love me.
  15. I was watching a show about Kerry last night and he said something along the lines of "Well, you won't see me jumping out of a plane." So he might not be very fun to hang out with at the dz... though I guess he could _fly_ the plane or something... I think Wendy's right about Bush and a keg of beer... if we could get him all boozed up, he'd probably be a lot more fun to hang out with...Those Texas boys sure know how to party ... but he doesn't drink anymore, does he? Actually I think Cheney would be more fun than either of those guys.

    Boomtown rats

Yeah, the Boomtown Rats were good... in a crappy garage band kind of way. I read Bob Geldof's autobiography... pretty interesting. He's a bit of a psycho. The part where he talks about starring in "The Wall" is funny... Apparently he hated Pink Floyd's music and didn't want to be in their movie... but his manager talked him into it and he ended up having a miserable time and getting really depressed during the filming... probably a good thing since he was playing a psycho depressed dude. (I think he was perfect for that part.)

I don't like Mondays. I want to shoot the whole day down. ~~~~~~~~~~~ I have that record, but don't have a record player anymore...
  18. I've listened to a couple of shows now (and bookmarked it to listen to some more). It does sound like an old time radio show. Some of the dialogue was funny, but I particularly liked the music... especially a version of "I'll Fly Away" by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. But it made me even more homesick for Austin... where you can go out and hear this type of quality live music any day of the week. Luckily I'm able to listen to my favorite Austin radio station over the 'net (http://www.kut.org/), which often plays live sets from local musicians (as well as a good selection of recorded music). Funny, I just had a look at KUT's weekly schedule and noticed that they play A Prarie Home Companion on Saturdays and Sundays. Guess I don't usually listen on the weekends... I don't think I've ever heard it on there.
  19. Never heard of that... but I looked it up and am listening to it... very nice.
  20. Linda, do you know what it will be like for fun jumpers during Nationals? Would it be silly to plan on jumping tomorrow? (I've never been to Nationals, so I have no idea what it's like!)
  21. 1500 ft. should be plenty of time to cutaway the main and pull the reserve. I don't have any emergency procedure plans that involve pulling my reserve without cutting away the main, unless I have not pulled the pilot chute out of the pouch. I hear some people talk about "canopy transfers" but I don't think I would personally ever do that unless it was some extreme situation. I don't think I ever had a 1500 ft. snivel on that canopy, but 1000 ft. snivels were not uncommon. And no, I had no intention of firing my reserve into a snivelling main... but 1500 seemed like a good altitude to decide whether it was actually gonna open or not... (would suck to realize around 500 ft. that what I thought was a snivel was actually a malfunction). That's true...
  22. Thanks for the advice, Mike. I used to have one of those cassette 4-tracks, but I could never get anything to sound good (maybe 'cause it was a crappy one, or maybe it was just me!)... So I'm wondering if the newer digital ones are any better or easier to use. I just had a look at Cubase SX3. Looks pretty cool, but they do recommend a 2.8 GHz processor, so I'd have to do a little upgrading before getting that too! Thanks again for the advice! I'll let you know whatever I end up getting...
  23. Wow. I don't even know what to say other than I'm glad you're ok. And the next time I see you, the Red Bull & vodka's on me. Have a safe trip, Lisa. We'll be thinking about you. And California will be glad to have you back.
  24. Like this one? I think Chronicle III has -by far- the best skydiving video soundtrack ever... And that scene with Wynona's Big Brown Beaver is hilarious. (and of course it has some great skydiving in it too!)
