  1. Ok, go for it. When it happens, I'll deal with it. Oh, and good luck finding enough bigotted, racist, hillybilly rednecks who are capable of 1.) creating an HOA and 2.) being able to afford houses where I live. I imagine your example is pretty far from what happened in this particular story.
  2. It is still your choice. You could always sell your home and move on. So you're comdemning the HOA in this story based on facts that you do not have.
  3. I don't think anyone will ever force you to live with an HOA. It's your choice. This man made the choice to buy a home that involved an HOA, he broke the rules, and now he's being fined. That's the way it works. The story doesn't mention anything about him talking to the HOA or the state wildlife program about his bear problem before shooting the bear; perhaps that would have been a better route for him to take.
  4. It depends on how different their views are from mine and how much they try to push their views on me... For example: If someone was constantly talking about how bad homosexuality is or constantly trying to convert me to Christianity (or any other religion) then yeah, I would "snub" them. But luckily I have not yet met a skydiver who behaved like that; in fact, I don't even know what the political views ARE of most of the skydivers I know. I do know some openly religious skydivers, but I have no problem with their religion because they do not try to preach to me. (And I do not try to convince them to stop believing in God.)
  5. Funny you should mention killing rats. We have a bit of a rat problem at our house right now because I have been unable to bring myself to kill them. (Yeah, I know I probably don't fit into the "most people" category ;) They don't actually come into our house though because we have two cats. I have slightly less of a problem killing the ants because they do come in the house and cause more of a problem - and because they are not mammals, but I still feel somewhat bad for killing them (which seems kinda silly). Is it not possible for a virus to do some things that are beneficial? Viruses are currently being used as a way to deliver gene therapy, so I don't think that calling something a virus necessarily means that it is 100% harmful.
  6. No, I made it known that I was definitely NOT voting pro-Bush... But I don't feel bitter that he won because I wasn't exactly pro-Kerry either. I think they were both pretty lame options, and of course none of the other candidates had any chance of winning. (Is there any way to fix this two-party dominance thing???) I do think this election has shown how fiercely divided our country is, and I would like to see a solution that is fair to everyone. I'm guessing that leaving most issues to the states is the best answer; that way, some states will end up with strict conservative laws and other states will be much more liberal... So we can choose where we want to live in the US without having to force our morals on everyone else in the country; that seems like the only fair way to go... (My biggest problem with Bush is that I don't think he will leave most issues to the states, but hopefully I am wrong.) Oh, and no I haven't been sending hate mail to anyone I know who voted for Bush. That would just be silly...
  7. I thought that ad was funny... But they could have cleaned the bathtub a little better before taking pictures... I wonder if they had a weenie roast afterwards and served all those hotdogs to their unsuspecting friends???
  8. I work part-time making virtual tours for real estate, and I am going to school part-time as well... Oh, and I like the missionary position.
  9. I doubt that he's sad at all... He now has four more years worth of material to use to make another movie and lots more $ for himself.
  10. One of my ex-husband's good friends was a cross-dresser... He was a fashion designer in London who made some interesting women's clothing from vinyl and various cartoon-print fabrics. He was a good-looking guy who happened to make a good-looking woman too. He wore his own fashions and often had hot women with him, dressed in his designs (I believe he was heterosexual, if I remember correctly, not that it matters). I never got to know him very well, but from the time we spent with him he seemed like a really nice and cool guy.
  11. Nice pictures, Arthur! Well done! I particularly like the pic with the big moon in the sky.
  12. I've never seen it that way either, but it would be fun. I think a lot of theaters still do that. Ha ha... not lately... (Dammit, I should have made an extra 4 million Keelys and had them registered to vote before this election! )
  13. Hmm, interesting way to put it. Oh, and no cross-dressing thread would be complete without pictures of the king (queen?) of all transvestites... (Sorry, windcatcher, I couldn't resist! )
  14. Here we go... This is gonna turn into another one of those S&M threads...
  15. This sounds like an NPS Ranger talking about BASE jumpers... those little criminals, endangering society with their wreckless behavior and their "I'll do anything I want to" attitude. What kind of example does that set for the children in America? How will that kind of behavior affect the American family? I shudder to think...
  16. What dictionary are you looking at? Any dictionary I look in gives me a definition similar to this: "Fear of or contempt for lesbians and gay men."
  17. That was funny. I love The Daily Show. I just thought it was bizarre they had that law in the first place... wonder how it came about? Probably a good law to get rid of, but I doubt it will do much to change the drunk driving rates. Most bars that supposedly use 1 oz of liquor actually "spill" quite a bit more into the glass anyway. Edited to say: Ah, kinney29 sort of answered my question of how it came about (in the post right above mine).
  18. South Carolina: AMENDMENT-1 MINI BOTTLES - Election Results>> YES 801,117 59% NO 555,060 41% I like that S.C. is tackling the important issues such as whether to pour liquor from big bottles or little bottles. (And why did they have a law requiring bars to pour from minibottles in the first place???)
  19. At least he did the honorable thing. I was afraid there would be all kinds of lawsuits and such before it was over, so I think he did the right thing to help bring the country back together. And I'm thinking that living in Australia for the next four years is starting to sound appealing...
  20. So you just voted to have discrimination written into the constitution and to keep some people from having the same rights as yourself. Oh well, it's your right to vote. (Though I'm hoping you'll change your mind if the issue ends up on the ballot again.)
  21. Marriage is not a RIGHT!!!!! By no means is it a RIGHT! But why deny them a civil union?
  22. Most of those states also banned same-sex civil unions, so obviously it was not about protecting "marriage"; it was about keeping gays from having the same rights as everyone else.
  23. Yep... But the good news is that the FTC is taking action: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2004/10/spyware.htm
  24. So banning gay marriage will change the 50% divorce rate in this country???
