  1. Not very considerate to be jumping in that condition and putting everyone else in danger. If she's so hungover that she's puking, then she's too altered to be jumping. Ok, I'll stop being the fun police now.
  2. No, it's not. Faith? Perhaps. Religion? No. Well, unless you're talking about an atheist such as Richard Dawkins, but his "religion" seems to be a lot more than simple atheism.
  3. Other than backing it up, what's the big deal about driving a trailer? I don't recall ever having to "learn" how to do that, even after I was driving with a manual. OTOH, I had a bitch of a time learning to simply drive with a stick shift (when I was in my early 20's). I guess these things are different for different people.
  4. And maybe the reason for that is that there is no better solution? I don't know. I haven't been able to think of one, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one.
  5. So you do not agree with current situation, but offer nothing else instead? This is not constructive. If I had a better solution, I would offer it. I haven't seen anyone else offer a better solution either.
  6. Do you think that infanticide should be allowed too?
  7. The only time I can remember being aware of Christianity at the dropzone is once when there was a group of people with some sort of "Christian skydivers" t-shirts on. Anyone who calls themselves a Christian, which means that the word has little meaning to me. The group of Christian skydivers were acting pretty much like any of the other skydivers, so I guess they were representing Christianity in a neutral way.
  8. "Well, let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet." (The Wolf in Pulp Fiction) and "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." (Batty in Blade Runner) Oh, and "Rosebud!"
  9. No. In the case of rape, I see no reason why she would need to have an abortion late in the pregnancy (assuming she had made the decision to not keep the child). It should matter at any time. But I don't think it's possible to make any black and white rules about abortion being "ok" or "not ok" at any certain point in the pregnancy. However, I think that if abortion is going to be done, it would be best to do it as early as possible.
  10. So if you had a 15-year-old daughter, and she was impregnated by a rapist, you'd expect her to have the child??? Wow. Rape is one of the reasons I would never vote to make abortion illegal. A woman who has been raped has already been through enough. I can't believe that anyone would want to force her to carry the child of her assailant.
  11. Stick shifts are more fun to drive than automatics. Since I don't put makeup on or talk on my cell phone while driving, I need something else to do, and changing gears provides that for me.
  12. Hey, I was born on June 23, 1971, too!
  13. What would be more interesting to know is: Are most of the "yes" votes from people with degrees, and are most of the "no" votes from people without degrees? From my personal experience, I can't see that a degree (in itself) makes any difference in whether someone is a drama queen or not. But then I can't think of too many people who I would consider to be drama queens. Only three people come to mind - two without a degree and one with. But those numbers probably have more to do with the fact that I know about twice as many people (or more) without degrees.
  14. Well, damn. Then I guess I will just quit school, move back to Texas, and buy myself some freakin' hairspray.
  15. Cool. Does that mean that if I ever finally get a degree, then I'll stop being such a drama queen?
  16. Ah, that must have been what I heard a little while ago. I was sitting downstairs doing homework, and it sounded like something hit our house. And all of the cats looked spooked. I thought it was an earthquake, but I checked the "recent activity" site and there were no recent quakes nearby. I had seen in the news earlier that the shuttle might land here, but I didn't even think about that when I heard the noise. Oh well, I'm kinda slow sometimes. Edited to say: Damn, I wish I would have known earlier, because I would have driven down there to watch.
  17. Oh, and FWIW, I personally find it hard to get a good workout from pilates without straining my neck (which I have problems with anyway). So I prefer power yoga because it's still a good workout, but it feels much more comfortable to me.
  18. If you're not able to breathe properly while doing the moves, then you're probably pushing yourself too hard. Maybe you could ask the instructor how you can modify the positions for your current level of fitness?
  19. Sounds like fun. We have an "electric fence" set up in our kitchen window. It's there to keep the cats out, but it makes a fun party toy too.
  20. Surely you can do a search for it. If you wanted to make me search for it, then you shouldn't have answered my question.
  21. I've already stated my opinion about abortion. I think it's a bad thing, but I wouldn't vote to make it illegal because there are too many situations where it is probably the best option. Well, I am a member of society, so I would at least have some say in the matter. If there were good reasons for this decision, then I might agree with it, or more likely I'd try to think of a better solution. I do not like the current situation with abortion, but I have not been able to think of a better solution than what we have right now. Nor have I heard a better solution from anyone else.
  22. Fair enough for the father. But how do you feel about the Pope, or the President, or the Chief Justice, or even rushmc and Butters having a say in your decision? The same as I feel about them having a say in my decision to kill anyone else. What is "ok" is determined by our culture, and for now our culture has decided that it's ok to kill a baby as long as that baby has not yet been born.
  23. I recall a case where a woman was convicted of homicide when her baby was delivered stillborn, because she had been smoking crack while pregnant. I don't see why drinking heavily while pregnant should be any different. If a woman gives birth to a baby with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, she should be held responsible. And actually, this demonstrates one scenario where abortion might be the most humane solution. If a crack addict or an alcoholic were to find herself pregnant, after several weeks or even months of continuous drug abuse, the baby would likely be better off being aborted at that point.
