You are a goalie? LOL well then you get to play for free. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Did you happen to notice that yesterday the people of Spain rejected Zapatero's socialist PSOE party in Spain's municipal and autonomous community elections (their equivalent of State and/or Provincial elections). When Spain rejects socialism you know something is up. Capitalism is far from perfect. But it is better than the alternative. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I don't always agree with everything BillVon says, but I have to say he is making a lot of sense in this thread. Keep up the good work. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Wear a mask/cage. It's one thing for the pros not to wear one (they get paid to do this stuff and there are doctors/dentists on call at the rink when the pros play). I was extremely luck when I was younger playing hockey with no facial protection. Twice I have taken a stick to the mouth and did not lose any teeth (but your lips sure do bleed a lot). When I took the goalie stick to the face I was lucky it hit my chin and not my mouth (you could see my chin bone before the doctor stitched me up) and I also took a stick once very close to my eye (more stitches). After all these close call I finally woke up, smartened up and put the mask on and had I not been wearing a mask when I took the goalie's skate to my face, I shutter to think what sort of damage would have been done. There is nothing uncool about protecting our faces. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I have had so many hockey injuries over the years, I lost track of them all. There's been blood, lots of muscle injuries, separated shoulders, etc, etc, etc. Not only have I taken a goalie stick to the face which resulted in stitches, I also took a goalie skate to the face. Fortunately I was wearing a mask when I took the skate to the face, so no harm done. But I would be Frankenstein's bro these days had I not been wearing a mask that day. Procrastinate when it comes to doing some of our chores. Why do something today when you can put it off for tomorrow, or the day after. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Are you sure you are not confusing the 1973 Yom Kippur War with the Six Day War of 1967? It is my impression that Israel started the 1967 War with their preemptive air strikes on Egypt, Jordan and Syria to take out the Arab air forces followed by Israeli land attacks which gave Israel their new territory. Egypt and Syria started the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Have I done research which can be compared in every jurisdiction that factors in local electricity rates, local natural gas rates (or oil for those unfortunate enough who are forced to heat their homes through oil) and that factor in local taxes? Heck no ... there are not enough hours in the day to worry about such data. It would be different if I was being paid to produce such data, but I am not. I never said I relied on incandescent light bulbs to heat my home (that would be inefficient). I still rely on natural gas. All I am saying is that incandescent light bulbs help heat the rooms you are in, when you are at home, in a room where your lights are on and it is cold outside. It's not the primary source of heat, but it is a heat source. It's easy for people in southern climates to not think about heat and to look down on people who need to heat their homes. But for those who actual deal with -30 temperatures in the winter, heat is very much on our minds. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
Nothing wrong for educating people on making their homes energy efficient and nothing wrong with allowing people to make the choice of what kind of light bulb they want to use. But banning incandescent light bulbs is just plain dumb. Heat may be a trivial thing to you, but it is a matter of life and death to others. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Keep consuming your eco KoolAid while you worship your new "Global Warming" religious beliefs. If fires are being caused, it is the result of faulty wiring, not light bulbs. But incandescent light bulbs do cause heat and for those of us who live in northern climates, this is a good thing. They are not our sole source of heat for our homes, but they do help and when the eco fruit cakes succeed in banning all incandescent light bulbs this will only drive up more energy consumption on other sources of fuel to keep us warm. Come spend a winter where it gets really cold and you will understand why eco wackos are just that. Wackos. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I am willing to take the risk that I will be in a situation where wearing a seat belt will kill me. In other words, the seat belt will save my ass 99% of the time. If my 1% comes up, well it was not my day and I wasn't supposed to live forever. I always wear my seat belt. Seat belts save lives. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

The Tesla does little for me (though I am sure I would like the acceleration from it's torque if I was ever allowed to drive one on the track). How long can you drive your Tesla before you need to stop and spend the entire day recharging it's batteries? 2 hours of highway driving? Electric cars still have a long way to go if they are to be considered as anything other than inner city dwellers. However hybrids are more than the future, hybrids are the present and while I dislike most domestic "for public consumption" hybrids, there is one Hybrid I am watching. They still won't allow the Porsche GT3 Hybrid into the "24 Heures du Mans" race (in a year or two it might be in it), but it came close to winning the 2010 Nurburgring 24 Hour race leading 23 hours of the race when tragically a mechanical failure ended the Cinderella story in the final hour. But Porsche has come back with a new and improved version this year. I don't see the Tesla in any endurance races, but I do see a certain Hybrid making the racing world stand up and take notice. http://electric-vehicles-cars-bikes.blogspot.com/2011/03/porsche-takes-on-nurburgring-24-with.html Of course it's not for sale to the public (even if it was only the ultra rich could afford it). But watch what comes from this car as the years progress. Things Porsche learn from the GT3 Hybrid will translate to their production cars in the years to come. 2011 Canadian Election Turning Comical
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Turns out that "Vegas Ruth Ellen Brosseau" speaks better French than the media claimed she did: http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/featured/news/868018287001/exclusive-with-ruth-ellen-brosseau/940262434001 of course this is the first time anyone has ever heard from her, so who were we to know. I definitely do not support the NDP, but clearly many in the media were out to get this woman when we first heard of her campaigning from Vegas. WARNING: there are some foxy women in the video from above. Watch it at your own peril. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
2011 Canadian Election Turning Comical

As far as the party is concerned, Quebec knew exactly who they were voting for. It's the individual candidate part where they tripped over their toes, fell over and ate the dirt big time. The Quebec NDP vote was a protest vote yes ... but it was also a vote for a couple of reasons: - By voting NDP they thought they would remove the Conservatives from power. - By voting NDP they thought they would drive PM Harper out of politics. - By voting NDP they thought they would get more socialism than they already have. But Ontario bucked the trend (the Liberals and NDP did split the vote on the Left in Ontario) and Ontario was the reason why the Conservatives won their majority. Quebec elected a bunch of unknown MPs. They ended up with something like 6 University students, a teenager was elected to parliament, a communist was elected and the woman who is getting all the publicity is a Vegas Show Girl (okay the Show Girl part is a stretch ... but she does not speak French in a 99.99% French riding ... LOL). There are some people who are saying the "Liberal Party of Canada" and the "Bloc Quebecois" are dead and that we are headed towards a two party system like you have in the USA. But I am not convinced we are headed that way. The Conservatives have a majority in both Parliament and the Senate. The NDP is powerless and they do not have a hope in hell in fulfilling all the promises of socialist bliss they made to Quebec. In 4.5 years from now when we have our next election, Quebec will punish the NDP big time. The question is, will the Liberals come back in Quebec or will the BQ take it? Depending on how the Conservatives govern in the next 4.5 years, the Liberals do have a chance to win a Minority government next time around (the Conservatives can't govern forever). But we need to wait to see what the Conservatives do. The next 4.5 years is a great opportunity for Ontario and Western Canada to work together. Obviously you can not ignore all the regions of the country, but Ontario (assuming they get rid of McGuilty) and Western Canada are the economic engines of the nation. Canada needs both Ontario and Western Canada to be firing on all cylinders. Now if only Quebec would learn how to support themselves. What goes on here is nothing at all like what goes on in the USA. The USA doesn't have Quebec. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

I hate reading stuff like this. Brady was a great guy and will surely be missed. First Josh, then Dan-O, Emily, and now Brady BSBD goes out to the MHSD community. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Trooper is a Canadian band who's been around since the 1970s. In 1977 they released the song Here for a good time and if you can ignore for a second they were actually singing about having a good time in the sunshine when it does not rain in Vancouver BC, the lyrics to this song could very well be a theme song for the skydiving community. We're here for a good time, not a long time. So have a good time, the sun can't shine everyday could easily translate to free fall being a good time that does not last long. Thoughts? Or should I just crawl back under the rock from where I came? jaja Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Not when they are driven like this (fast forward to the 40 second mark). The White Porsche is driven by Sabine Schmidt, Queen of Nordschleife, fastest taxi driver in the world. Crazy women drivers. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I grew up in K-bec. I lived there for 18 of my first 27 years (Tabarnak!!!). If fashion week falls in the spring time, watch out for the man eating pot holes and be careful crossing the bridges. You never know when they will collapse. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Ferme ta gueule, mon dit ostie. Tabarnouche. In Quebecois, one must learn to slur one word into the other. The faster you slur the words, the more swear words you can get in while shouting down your opponent. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
