What a bizarre series. In Boston, the Bruins beat the Canucks up pretty bad. But in Vancouver, the Canucks win (all close games). Will the trend continue? or can the Bruins win one on the road. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I disagree with the term "Mid Life Crisis". Unless you come from a wealthy family it's usually only in these middle aged years when you can afford to do some of these things people identify as crisis. I would much rather call them "Mid Life Adventures". Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

There's been another big crash involving another front runner Audi LMP1 car. Mike Rockenfeller driving the Audi came together with another slower Ferrari GT car and Mike was sent hard into a barrier. It happened at night so the video is limited (I think the only view is the in car footage from Mike's car). It sounds like Mike did not suffer any serious injuries, but everyone is saying is was a violent crash. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Newsflash for you. The unemployment rate is Spain is much worse than the unemployment rate in the USA. When Spain and Portugal both reject socialism, you know something is up. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

People are fooling themselves if they expect politicians to solve their career and financial problems for them. People need to realize that politicians will say anything and everything to gain power. Stop relying on politicians and their bloated unionized civil servants to get yourself through life. Start taking responsibility for your own future. You need to pay closer attention to what is going on in Europe these days. Spain and Portugal have just rejected their incumbent socialist governments. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Economies are cyclical. They go up and they come down. The recession of the early 1980s was not good, unemployment was high and there are some parities between what happened then and now. But since huge aspects of manufacturing has left the western world (likely never to return) and we are not living in the same Cold War era (the USSR no longer exists) we are living in a era that we have never experienced like we have in the past. So yes there is a certain aspect of a "new normal" which we must adapt to. The world is changing and if people are not willing to adapt to these changes, they will be left behind. The 2011 24 Hours of Lemans race is approaching it's 2nd hour now and the last hour has been run under a safety car because of a huge crash by one of the race favorites. Alan McNish driving an Audi LMP1 car attempted a ill fated passing attempt on one of the slower GT cars. McNish smacked the Ferrari GT car and had a scary crash into the safety barriers. Rumors has it that no serious injuries have occurred, but as exciting as they are for the constant passing, these mixed class endurance races have their dangers. Here is one of many YouTube submissions of this crash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AsPrCErGUU and live streaming for the race can be found in a few places: http://www.audi-microsites.com/lemans/ http://www.justin.tv/freddy49_lemans#/w/1321767936 http://stream.speedtv.com/corvette Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Flying bear kills two Canadians in freak accident

Would it be inappropriate to say that the Bruins are killing the Canucks? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
It is unfortunate you seem to have a stereotype in your head that Porsche owners are nothing but pricks and I am sure some are. But the reality is, Porsche has a heritage that comes from the racing world and it does not take that many modifications to turn a normal street 911 into a race car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3A1ERsvY4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cX-3F3uBrc&NR=1 Spend some time at a race track during a track day event. You will see Corvettes (they do offer a lot of bang for the buck), you will see some BMWs and yes even the odd Ferrari will be there. You won't see that many traditional American muscles cars because while they may be fast in a straight line, they handle like shit in the corners. You won't see that many Japanese Rice cars (they are more for show than anything else) and you won't see very many exotics either. Their owners are too worried about driving their cars, to actually learn how to drive them at their limits. But what you will see at the track is tons and tons of Porsche owners pushing themselves and their cars to their limits. It is a brand who's heritage comes straight from the racing world. One game does not make a series. But it is always nice to see Vancouver get soundly trashed. Go Bruins. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You see this is part of the problem. You are thinking two dimensional while many Americans have been brought up to think only one dimensional when it comes to this war. Ignoring the Russians for a moment, the Americans (who's industry was not destroyed by daily bombing) was a huge contributor to the victory as was the British contribution. But there were many nationals from many other nations who also fought and died to defeat the Nazis. As I said it was a team effort which was also helped along the way by Hitler being a complete mad man and not listening to his Generals who knew much more about how to wage war than the delusional Austrian corporal. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Just don't ever forget that the defeat of Nazi Germany was a team effort. No one nation alone achieved this victory. It took many nations working together to defeat the Nazis with the Russians paying the largest price in lives lost. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Your URL to the documentary does not work for some of us. But I assume this is part 1 of the series found on YouTube? Plus here is part 2 and part 3? Yes Patton was a crazy arrogant SOB (even he admitted this), but so was Montgomery. Remember the war was NOT won by one nation. It was a team effort with the Russians taking on most of damage. World War II appears to be one of the rare "just" wars, but it really was just an extension to "The Great War" and that war was started for the dumbest of reasons. "Band of Brothers" is an excellent mini series and does a good job covering the 101st Airborne Division involvement on June 6th 1944. The movie "The Longest Day" is actually a very good and pretty historically accurate movie of what happen on that day. Heck even the Germans speak German in that movie. But nothing is like "Saving Private Ryan" (must be seen in the theaters) to get a feel for what it must have been like to be there storming the Normandy beaches on that day. Actually skydivers need to come to grip that they too are only jumping with one parachute (their reserves). Once they accept this, then they can understand why BASE is not overly concerned about jumping one canopy (we know the gear is remarkable reliable when used properly), and concentrate more on whether good judgement is made concerning a specific jump. Skydiving is as dangerous as it can be when people use poor judgment just as BASE can be as dangerous as it can be with poor judgment. If people stopped using poor judgment on some of their jumps, there would be less injuries and fatalities. Now that the gear has evolved, it is the human who is the weak link. I have no problem jumping a one canopy BASE rig. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

But not the penalty box where hot chicks flash their racks at him. But the extra 15 yards unnecessary roughness penalty will at least place him far enough away where he can't get up, close and personal with the merchandise. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This thread is not that long, and it was easy to go back and see that funjumper101 needlessly brought religion into this thread. I say send funjumper101 to the penalty box for a 2 minute minor and tack on an extra 10 minute misconduct penalty. If one really needs to go the extra yard, also throw in 15 yards for unnecessary roughness. But lest we forget, this is SC where Politics, Religion and Guns brings out the best of us. Decline and fall of the American empire?
CanuckInUSA replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
The fall of America won't happen over night. But the world is changing fast and it's not taking any prisoners. Those who are unwilling to adapt these changes will be left behind. Gone are the days when you go to school, and then get a job for life staying at the same company for decade after decade and getting a big fat pension. Anyone who thinks they can still do this is just not paying attention to the changes going on. But as I said, it won't be just the USA which is effected. The entire globe is under going this transformation (oh and there are too many mouths to feed in this world, but that is a different can of worms).
