  1. Yawn and watch your premiums skyrocket to the point where it either drives you out of business or you are unable to secure insurance. Claymores and landmines are much more cost effective. Plus it's not habit forming. The perpetrator(s) will not be making the same mistake twice. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Screw that, too much time feeding the dogs and cleaning up after them. Trip wire claymores and anti-personal land mines are the way to go. Let's kick some ass. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Not really ... the Democrats pretty much occupy the East and the West coasts and the Republicans are in the middle of the country (if you want to generalize). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. LOL ... I don't think you know what an agnostic is. What can I say, we agnostics are a confused lot. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. I am not so sure Brevik is mad. I think he is just what happens when you mix pure arrogance and pure evil together. BTW ... in case you did not know this. I am agnostic and will slam Christians when they should be slammed (like slamming Pat Robertson for being a complete fool in thinking God was mad at the USA and thus put a crack in the Washington Monument). But I also am in 100% support of religious freedom just as long as the religious people respect my right to not believe in what they believe. Not all religious people respect this, but most do. 6. I can not speak for where you live, but in my neck of the woods plenty of Christians were denouncing Andreas Brevik. Besides wherever did you get this "Killed for Christ" theory. There is a lot out there about whether Brevik was even a Christian or what kind of Christian he was. Not that I wasted my time reading it, but from what I understand he is all over the map with his manifesto quoting people on both sides of the fence. Obviously no rational person can defend the way Brevik chose violence as his way to get attention. But there are many people who believe some of what he said like stopping the spread is Islam throughout Europe and other parts of the world. Maybe some people were silent to voice their true opinions because maybe some people remembered "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". We have something similar going on here north of the border this week (minus the mass murdering of course). I won't go into nitty gritty details, but one of Canada's national Leftist political leaders passed away from cancer. He had had cancer for several years, but he went from someone who in early May looked reasonably normal to someone in July who you knew he was soon going to be a goner to where he finally lost his battle on Monday. Anyway apparently he wrote a letter to all Canadians on his death bed. Part of this letter was non-partisan and other parts were highly partisan. I don't know about other people, but when I am really sick, the last thing I want to do is write some massive "touchy feely goodie two shoes feel good about yourself and spread the politically correct Leftist love" message to everyone. Quite honestly when I am really sick I just want to die. So naturally some people have questioned the authenticity of this letter which have sent the political Left and their media outlets ape shit against anyone who questions them. So this is definitely one of those "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" weeks. Oops too late. I said something (first time all week I have mentioned this dead politician). Haha ... but I won't tell you how I really feel. Just because some Christians did not condemn Andreas Brevik does not mean they supported him. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Haha you looked at it and yes she is someone all us young folk should look up to. In her own words, she is still wiggling. Will you look at that, just look at it. Still wiggling at 101 years. Will you look at that.
  8. Will you look at that, just look at it. But if you want to look at something, look at this. Have you ever seen something that was 101 years old and in such good shape. Will you look at that, just look at it!!! Oh and the car is also in pretty good shape. But it's not as old. I said would you look at that. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Sorry Pat, but you are getting weird on this one. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Looks like the first drag chute bag-locked or something? Did he pack his own first drag chute? and does he owe his rigger a bottle for the reserve drag chute working? Looks like he had plenty more run off room even with the malfunctioning drag chute. That place must be huge. I have never been to the Salt Flats, but it would be fun to go there sometime. I would love to know how fast my car is (the main straight at my local race track is not long enough to hit my top speed) though of course me driving at the Salt Flats would be like a Sunday stroll in the park compared to the big dog speed demons. 12. No comment on some Doomsday End of Life on Earth Comet since there is no evidence that one exists yet and there certainly won't be one striking the planet in 2012. As far as earthquakes are concerned, well they have been going on since this planet formed many billions of years ago, they will continue to occur for billions more years and while we can not predict when the next one will come or where it will occur, we know why they occur and there is nothing we can do about them. Except make sure our buildings are built strong in areas where they frequent. But ... if you want to talk about the recent East Coast Earthquake, there has never been a clearer example of "The Founding Fathers of the USA rolling over in their graves for the bullshit US politicians are up to these days". 13. The 2008 Obama campaign slogan was "Yes we can". In 2012 it will be modified "Yes we can add more debt than all other previous federal governments, combined". Republicans can NOT take the high road concerning their past record on government management. When GWB took office, the US Federal debt was $5.768 trillion. By the time Bush left office, it had nearly doubled, to $10.626 trillion. So Bush's record on deficit spending was not good at all. During GWB's presidency, the national debt rose by an average of $607 billion a year. How does that compare to Obama? During Obama's first two years of his presidency, the US federal debt had risen by an average of $1.723 trillion a year — or by a jaw-dropping $1.116 trillion more, per year. Obama is making GWB look like a fiscal conservative and we all know that GWB was NOT a fiscal conservative. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  16. I am not sure who you mean by "you guys" but pretty much everything else you say also sums up how I feel about things these days. I am old enough now where "I just don't give a fuck" about certain things anymore. But I too am pissed that future generations are having this fiscal mess dumped on their laps. As far as I am concerned Democrats and Republicans have both fucked over future generations. Neither side can take the high road. Even though it's been years since I have seen a certain John Mellencamp music video, I was reminded of it today and I have always liked it. Now I may be putting too much emphasis on some of the lyrics in the song and I know a lot of Mr Mellencamps other music does not mesh with how some Republicans view the world. But I think this song has lyrics that plays both to the strength and weaknesses of both sides of the fence. Possibly why I like it, or maybe I just like the jingle. The chorus has parts that plays to the strength of the Democrats and should send a message to Republicans that the country belongs to everyone. then later in the song for the most part plays to the strength of the Republicans and should send a message to Democrats that "there are winners and losers in society". So Democrats stop being such wussy chimp whiner victims of the world whenever life serves you up lemons. Whoever told you life would be easy was clearly lying to you. The people who don't view themselves as victims of the world make lemonade whenever life serves them up their lemons. Or maybe I am just out to lunch with how I view these lyrics. If I am, I blame early onset of alzheimer's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOfkpu6749w&feature=relmfu BTW ... you know this is an 80s music video. Just look at the massive shoulder pads the girl has on near the end of the video. Looks like she could be playing in the NFL with those things. 18. While Canada's national anthem may not have references of "Bombs Bursting in Air", our anthem does have several militaristic and religious references. Official English Version O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  20. I finally got around to reading a two part article in the PCA's Panorama magazine concerning "Stick versus PDK". For those who don't know, the Panorama magazine is sent out to all PCA members similar to the USPA's Parachutist rag. Anyway it was an interesting read with many pros and cons for Stick or Porsche's new PDK transmission. Most respondents (2 to 1) favored stick over the PDK. But the general consensus was if you only drive on the public roads and you want to maximize your driving experience, then the manual transmission was the way to go. And while mastering "heal toe" shifting on the track can be a beautiful engaging thing, when it comes to pure performance on the track, nothing can beat left foot braking using the PDK with paddle shifters. My car is not a modern car, so I still use the stick and my 993 is the last year of the air cooled engines so it has a little extra character that the more modern 911 cousins have. But as one person in the article pointed out "Today's innovation is tomorrow's tradition". Manual transmissions are not going away in high end sports cars. They just won't be the norm and they will need to be special ordered. Oh and I am not so sure we should be blaming the US market for influencing Porsche's move to the PDK transmission. Two points here (as someone from the Panorama article pointed out): 1) "In America, women tend to wear the tight pants, $400 shoes and shave. In Europe it is the exact opposite. In America sports cars still have stick shifts while in Europe many of the cars imitate Formula One Technology". And well it is not just Europe. Look at what Nissan has done with their GTR. I have never driven one, but from everything I know about it, it is a performance beast that even a dummy could drive fast, as long as they don't hit anything. 2) America is still a huge market for Porsche, but the largest growing market for them is China and soon we will be forced to buy options that the Chinese think are important. So it's a combination of catering to the people who want to emulate F1 technology and cater to the Chinese. That is just the way it is in our ever changing world. The bottom line is, if you do enjoy driving cars, drive one that makes you happy. I thoroughly enjoy driving my 6 speed 993 on the public roads and it is even more fun to track it (though I never use 6th gear on the track). But if I had the money for another higher performance track car, you better believe I would be left foot braking with a PDK just as long as it had paddle shifters to override the transmission when the need came up. Unfortunately right now I do not have the $$$ to be running out and buying a PDK equipped car. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  22. Poor people don't own big boats, poor people don't own even bigger trucks to tow their big boats and poor people don't use maids. It's one thing for a poor person to whine about rich people, but when a rich person whines about rich people, it's just too funny. I could give a rats ass how much money someone else has. As I said, I just find it rather amusing when a rich person such as yourself whines about other rich people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. I see your point. We should all be doing as the left wing does and demonize them as they deserve. They are all evil and wicked, and don't deserve anything. And speaking of rose colored glasses, it must be nice to live in a world where you think taxing (even at 100%) would solve anything. I always find it amusing when a rich person who owns a rather large boat and owns an even larger truck to tow their boat and has a maid to clean their house because they are too busy enjoying the finer things in life like using their big boat, whines about other people who tend to be even richer than the rich person who does all the whining. It's not like this is a poor person who is just barely making ends meet who is whining about rich people. Poor people don't own big boats, even bigger trucks and poor people sure can not afford a maid. Only rich people can do all of that. BTW I could careless how much money or how many toys someone else has. I just find it funny when rich people whine about other rich people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Zappa was big in the 70s and 80s (a time when I was a teenager and a young adult). Initially I was not a huge Zappa fan, but many of my friends were. So I had to listen to Frank whenever a friend put a Zappa record on (which happened a lot). At first I thought the music was bizarre. But in time it started to grow on me. I think it was 1981, when I got to see Zappa live in concert and it was a fantastic show. Too bad I consumed so much alcohol and hashish that evening as I was a bit of a zombie myself. Oh the silly things we do in youth ... and some people never grow up even if physically they are old. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Don't forget a small brain. Obviously there is a certain safety concern with convertibles on race tracks, but there is nothing wrong with a convertible sports car on the public roads. Ever since I started to track my car, there has been a clear separation between how one should drive a car on the public roads versus how a car can be driven on a race track. At the track the only limits are your own personal limits and the limits of how much grip your tires give you and how well your brakes are performing. Exceed any one of these limits and you could be in for some expensive repairs, or worse. But the public roads are not the place to explore limits. So if you do drive a convertible, put the top down and enjoy the day in your fine automobile well within the limits where structure rigidity is not an issue. I was at the track again today and I can't tell you how much fun it is. But it has it's downsides. I kept my normally aspirated 993 on the track where it belonged, and put in some good laps. I even got to ride in a couple of 993 Turbos (a first for me) which was awesome and now I lust for a faster car. But I was also left with an empty feeling at the end of the day as I realized my front brakes need to be replaced ... again ... and my tires are also approaching the end of their life. This stuff is fun fun fun ... but dang I need to find cheaper hobbies. Maybe I can find pleasure in watching paint dry? LOL Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
