  1. We are very simple creatures. 1) We eat (this includes drinking beer) 2) We poop (this includes peeing out the beer) 3) We sleep 4) We need sex (or at least we need to kill kittens) 5) Some of us like to jump our asses off while others watch TV. That's really all that there is. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. I don't hate women, but I sure don't understand them. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Is there any wonder why I'm single. Women hate me. Now why is it that they hate me? Could it be that I spend a lot of time jumping and not enough time with them making babies and families and going shopping and/or doing home renos and sucking every ounce of life out of my soul. Or could it be that the females of the world have decided that men are scum. I don't know? News at 11. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. No arguing that some people take more risks than others, that some people haven't acquired the proper experience before venturing into BASE and that some people (I think I fall into this one based on what happened to me a few weekends ago) have been known to be complacent on jumps at famiilar exit points. And we all know that complacency can kill (even at the bridge). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Personally I would go for my rears to help bring the slider down a tad faster and thus (ever so slightly) speed up my opening. But that's just me. I like to have my slider collapsed and stowed and have my chest strap loosened before I go for my toggles. If you've got a snivelly canopy that you don't like, then just pull a little higher. 6. Where are you located? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. You purpose should be to give us a smile every morning to brighten our day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. No more nuts than someone like myself BASE jumping off of a cliff. My jump could kill me just as you serving your country in Iraq could kill you. If you want this, do it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Now now ... don't be talking about me like that. Oops, you were talking about Scott Roberts weren't you. Isn't he a pro qualified PSTer? You've got to be good to be pro qualified. Cool ... the more the merrier. And consitency will be the key for all of us. I can easily name 5 people who are more experienced than I am. But I still plan on beating y'all. Now how's that for trash talking over-confidence. Seriously, it's all in good fun. I will try and do the best that I can and see where that lands me. If I'm not top 5 by the end of the summer, well as I said I can easily name 5 people who are more experienced than I am.
  10. That's fine. As long as that list includes the names of all active BASE jumpers. Sure some people take more risks than others. But no one is immune from the dangers of this sport. I'm sure I don't need to tell you this (you've been around longer than I have and have seen more shit than I have), but it sounds like you'd like to key on specific jumpers when I feel everyone would need to be on the list you speak of. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. The WX isn't looking good for CO this weekend (Sunday might be jumpable, but it's too early to know). So I'm thinking of heading to Twin instead. It won't help me for my swoop training (needed to beat you guys ), but at least I will be jumping. Not sure what sort of jumping (if any) will be had in CO this weekend. Oh and I won't be the first to go Dirt-Water-Dirt. But I do expect one day to go Dirt-Water-Chow. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Back in the mid 80s some friends joked at LAX about having a bomb. Needless to say they got yanked off of the plane and had to convince the authorities they were not terrorists (and this all before the 911 days). People need to be careful what they say and when they say it. You never know who's listenening. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. Thanks for the update Jason. I'm a little bummed that the 2nd event is scheduled on the same day that my high school reunion is being held on up in Montreal (and I will be at the reunion). So I've lost my one throw away result event. But that's my problem not yours. Thanks for the info. Now I can plan my spring and summer jumping schedule. PS: You don't mind if I do a rain dance on the weekend of May 21st-22nd now do you? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Old picture, old jumpsuit. Attached is a more recent picture (conveniently hiding my bald head ... the aspect that makes me an ugly duckling). This picture was taken last December in Moab moments before I contemplated my mortality in a decision to jump off of a cliff. As I said, I'm not the ugliest duck in the pond. But the girls don't swarm my way. It's all good. Less money needed to spend on a girl on dinner and gifts means more money and time to spend on jumping and gear. Oh and I'm not looking for sympathy posts. I'm just telling it as I see it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Most of the time when I see a picture of myself I think I'm one ugly bastard (not the worst in the world, but ugly nonetheless). And then a good picture would come out to make me think otherewise. So I don't know. I'm just an ugly duckling. It's all good. How's that for a less than ideal self-esteem. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. Do whatever you need to do to save your own life and try to do it with a calm mind. But do it. Time is not on your side in a high speed mal. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Even though I know you don't hang there, will Perris be a DZ of a 1000 swoop ponds again? It was the last time I was there a few weeks back. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Be smart about it. Learn how to fly your canopy very very well before you try a BASE jump. Things happen faster and at lower altitudes in that environment. It is a good show though. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. Oh well that's a whole different can of worms. But yes still jealous. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Dang did I get my girls mixed up. Oops!!! Is that Shannon in the first pic? My bad ... kind of looks like Gillian (Jillian?) Parker wouldn't you say? I need to get off of DZ.COM and jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. I'm kind of jealous right about now. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Correct grasshopper ... good research on you. And the reason why the canopy needs to be leveled off is because the wing will stall at a higher air speed while in a turn. So the swoopers that you see doing this skill are doing it while their airspeed is still well above the stall speed before they level off and finish the flare. Doing it and the end of your swoop is only asking for trouble . Not sure if you know this, but it is taught to student pilots and really should be taught to canopy pilots as well. But a wing can stall at any air speed and at any attitude. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. With all due respect to those who love her and wish to see her still breath, can't we just put her to sleep like we would a pet? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I'm not going to give you numbers because I don't always believe in them (they can be a good experience indicator, but not a skill indicator). I can tell you that I have evolved and I continue to evolve as a jumper. One month I'm all gung ho to do this, and the next month I want to try that. There are so many cool disciplines to do in this sport. Once you've got the basics down, go chase your dreams. But get coaching along the way too. Why do it by trial and error when you can have experience help you. Have fun ... be safe ... be smart ... don't be afraid of risks if they are within your limits. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Love the pictures. Especially the one of the sun between the risers. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
