I've met this man in person when I lived in Colorado Springs (when I visiting his church "New Life" as I was trying to figure out if I was a Christian ...which it turns out that I'm not). Anyway I have to say that Pastor Ted is a very interesting well spoken man to listen to. When he's not talking about his religious rhetoric, his message is a very good one full of morals that most of us should be following. But with all that said, I have to say that the man is a hyprocrite for preaching one message while living the other. I know four entities are going to be hot topics in Colorado Springs right about now. 1) Obviously Pastor Ted will be a hot topic. Did he do it? Why did he do it? 2) The accuser, the self professed male prostitute. Who is this man? Can people believe him? 3) The people of Colorado Springs no doubt will be looking for blood in the Democratic Party since they hate this political entity and anyone who associates themselves with the party. 4) The people of Colorado Springs are obsessed with the Devil. I know they kept telling me that the Devil was responsible for myself not being a Christian and that the Devil was responsible for everything bad in the world. So in the eyes of the people of Colorado Springs, no doubt it's not Pastor Ted's fault, but instead it was the Devil who made him do it. It's too bad people won't get to hear Pastor Ted speak much any more. Then again Hitler and Joesef Goebbels were very good public speakers as well. Hypocrites ... every last one of them. build up to swooping the pond at perris

I take this back. I just watched the video again and I don't think you were low on any of your jumps. I don't know what I was originally thinking. That song is cool ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Maybe you were a tad low coming off of your risers on the 2nd jump. But that's really nit picking and nothing to get in a huff about. When did you start doing 450s? and could the 450s be adding to the adrenaline rush making your turn rates faster? I definitely should not be offering advice on doing 450s since I really haven't done very many of them myself and I'm not going to be starting them any time soon unless I'm ultra current. But I have experienced the added adrenaline rush of the 450 over the traditional 270. I'm 2/3 the way through my 450 turn thinking I'm getting low. But in reality it's just the added speed that I'm not used to which is spooking me. Anyway just another observation. But you seem to have a decent handle on your swooping. Safe swoops ... build up to swooping the pond at perris
CanuckInUSA replied to djd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Cool ... and good progression. May I anti up some observations? 1) At least on your first few attempts, you needed to slow your turn rate down a bit. It's too fast and you're coming out high because of this (you know quick turns burn up less altitude). On the attempt when you finally touched down, your turn rate was slower than your first few attempts and because of this you weren't high and you had a good shot at the pond. 2) An alternative if you don't want to slow your turn rate down is to turn lower. But I didn't actually tell you that now did I as I sure as hell don't want to confuse people who don't know why I'm telling you that you can still turn lower. It's hard to tell from video, but your altitudes looked good. 3) Set up a little farther back on the pond. Can you see how far you're shooting past the pond? From a safety point of view it's good to be over water as you're leveling out, but you're generating plenty of speed and can easily have more pond to play with if you leveled out farther back. But how far back will also depend on you much you slow your turn down. Remember people get themselves into trouble when they're too close to the entry gates and end up diving down on the course and find themselves in the corner because of this. Setup up a little farther back on the pond if you want to play on it longer. 4) Make sure you properly level out over the pond before you attempt to touch down on it. On the jump where you do touch down, you can see you reach for the water almost immediately. Watch how the PST freestyle guys approach the water before they touch down. I've learned the hard way that we need to level out and slow down a little before we attempt to touch the water. Otherwise we're just going to bounce off of the water 10-15 feet into the air and then having to really fly our canopies close to it's stall speed to avoid hurting ourselves. Overall I'd say you're looking pretty good. You're generating some good speed and yes you could see the progress you made between each jump. Slow the turn down a small bit, setup farther back and make sure you're properly leveled out before you try and touch water. Were these formal coach jumps or just out having some fun and you invited Bundy and Clint along for the ride? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Mideast Terror Leaders to U.S. :Vote Democrat
CanuckInUSA replied to Gravitymaster's topic in Speakers Corner
This is the same lame argument the Republicans lied to the American people about last time around. I wish I could say that it's funny. But it's not. There are now more terrorists in the world ever since GWB put his nose where it didn't belong. Traditionally I've always sided with Republicans (I'm a fiscal conservative). But GWB and his cast of associates is evil. When will people wake up to this nightmare of GWB's failures. The man just isn't smart enough to be prez. I caught something the other day about Paris Hilton promoting P Diddy's "Vote or Die" campaign the last time around and wouldn't you know it, the dumb biotch didn't vote. So should she die then? I know the gossip columist would be scrambling at their lost poster child. But other than that, would anyone really care if Paris went the way of the dinosaur? How's TX treating you? I'm back in Alberta and the weather was great up until a few days ago when a blast of winter blew through and now there is this funny cold white looking stuff all over the ground and my brain appears to be frozen. Also true. Well since they lost to Montana State and Baylor, then yes I must relunctantly agree that the Buffs are actually a Div 1AA school masquerading as a Div 1A school. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yes I know the SEC teams are Gods while the Big XII currently gets little respect. I think this is two fold. With the exception of the state of Texas, football in the SEC area is bigger than football in the Big XII areas. Plus I believe that there is more parity in the Big XII schools leading to less impressive records. Look at the Buffs (not to be confused with a really good team). They have got to be better than their 1-8 record dictates. They've just had a bad year losing some close games. Plus look at Texas. Sure they lost to OSU 24-7. But it's not like they got blown away. I'm sure Texas would be a top team in any conference they played in. But because they play in a conference with a lot of parity, the get shafted on the respect side of these polls. You just haven't been with the right man. So hopefully your man-hating attitude is only temporary. Then again many men can be scum. if I was female, I might be a lesbian myself. But I'm not ... female ... nor am I a lesbian. Hold on a sec though. What's that they say? Some people are just Lesbians stuck in a man's body? Time for this camper to walk away from the keyboard. I'm much more likely to side with Michigan when they play OSU. But I have to warn you that none of the Big X teams does much for me. I like a few select SEC and ACC teams as well as a few select Pac X teams (shit I'll even admit that I occasionally support some of the Big XII teams). But the team I support the most (the CU Buffs) sucks this season and likely never will be a serious NC threat. But I still like them and will cheer for them even when they are a dismal 1-8. Let's go Buffalos!!! But to make you happy and at the same time taking a risk of pissing off a certain greenie ... Let's go Wolverines. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

> There are 29 Bowl games meaning 58 of something like 120 Division 1A teams get a Bowl bid? So half the teams are in? My plan would eliminate 12 teams from the 58. But that would still mean 46 teams get their Bowl money. Under the present system there are 28 meaningless games (yes they are fun to watch, but they really don't count for much) and 1 game which means the whole world. I say if you're not one of the top 46 teams, then do you really deserve Bowl money for that mediocre 6-6 record? Plus if it's really a money thing, why don't they just add 6 more Bowl games and continue to invite 58 teams to the party (hey I like Bowl games and wouldn't want to see them all go away). Also, the reason why I include 8 teams instead of the 4 you're advocating is that the BCS is still a someone what controversial system. Under the BCS it's still possible for a 12-0 team NOT to finish in the top 4. But a 12-0 team should finish somewhere in the top 8 and if a 12-0 team can't crack the top 8 then there is something radically wrong with the whole BCS ... period. But what do I know. I'm just a Canuck living back home in the frozen tundra where they play this bizaare form of football with 3 downs instead of 4 (pretty much taking the running game and play action out of the game), they use a massive field with monsterous undefendable end zones, their football is twice the size as a normal football and it's hard to throw it with any style and what's worse, they award a single point for failure (you get 1 point in Canadian football if you miss a field goal attempt and the ball is no longer in play ... how messed up is that?). With the exception of Albright, Reno and Helen Thomas, yes point taken that the photographer does have a lot of flexiblity to capture the picture they are looking for. But I still stand by my original comments that those women in this "Democratic Party" photo collage are just down right scary looking. Can someone show us GWB's monkey comparison pictures just so that we know we're not playing favorites here and instead are making fun of politicians from both sides? I was kind of hoping it would be the other way around. The skydiver would have developed good judgement through jumping of knowing when to take the risks and when not to and to rely on one's reflexes as a secordary thing. That's a sign that the jumper is trying to stay ahead of the 8-ball and not getting caught behind it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

1) Skydiving is not safe. 2) Stay in this sport long enough, and soon you will know someone who's died doing it. 3) Of all the people I've met in my 43 years of life and the great people I have met skydiving in my 4 1/2 years in the sport. I can't think of a single person I know who has died in an automobile accident (I know I'm lucky), but I'm already starting my second hand for the number of dead friends due to some form of jumping. 4) My closet brush with death occured as a passenger in a high speed car accident years ago. So I don't want to be too much of a hypocrite with this post. Anyway I'm not in conflict with all the things you've said. I just wanted to point out the dead friends thing. Who's next? You? Me? Are the rewards worth the risks? Often ... but not always. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I'm assuming this is the same Magot as seen in the 2001 Pond Swoop video? If yes, then his insanity is understandable. He's had to put up with Sonic all these years. So let's cut the guy some slack. Oh and even if he did or didn't PCA a dummy from a friend's building, and even if he did or didn't proceed to have sex with this dummy, it's still a ####ing hilarious story to be reading here, late at night. So deep down, I really do hope that that mannequin did make the jump since she'll have more BASE jumps that the vast majority of dummies in this world. Now if she could only learn how to pack. I was thinking about this today and I can't be the first person who thinks they know of a way for the NCAA to keep their Football Bowl Games and still have a playoff system for the National Championship. Part of the problem: The NCAA has 6 Bowl games scheduled this season from December 19th to the 24th. Another 14 Bowl games are scheduled from December 26th to the 30th. 8 Bowl games on New Years day and the National Championship on January 8th. Of course the National Championship is determined by the BCS (Beyond a Controversial Solution) and who should be in that game is not always correct in many people's minds. So ... Why doesn't the NCAA take the top 8 BCS teams and make the #1 seed play the #8 seed, #2 plays #7, #3 plays #6 and #4 plays #5 all during the week leading up to Christmas Eve day. They've already scheduled 6 games that week, so instead of seeing two 7-5 or 8-4 teams duke it out, why not watch the Quarter-Final Bowl games instead. They can still invite a slew of other teams to fill in the 14 games between Christmas and New Years and then all they need to do is take 2 games away from the 8 regular New Years day Bowl games and make that the National Championship semi-finals and then of course the National Championship game (complete with a playoff system, but still keeping the traditions of the Bowl games) is played a week after the New Years games are played. I wouldn't expect the NCAA to change this year, but why aren't they doing something like this? Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and then the Finals all during pre-existing scheduled Bowl games at predetermined stadiums. It doesn't seem all that difficult. Or is it? US judge exiles a Sex Offender to Canada
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Canada should not be punishing him for his US sex crimes. The US should be punishing him. But instead they choose to let this man walk free. I've heard bleeding hearts say it's only fair that he be allowed to be with his family, but I say baloney. He gave up his rights when he commited his crimes. A grown man (married with children nonetheless) should know better not to have sexual relations with a 15 year old girl and to have these relationships in a teacher/student setting is only adding to the problem. Besides, his family could visit him in a NY State prision. He was only supposed to be there for one year and one year does pass very quickly. It still makes no sense why the NY authorities have decided to let this man walk free except that maybe they too have been hanging out with too many Canadian bleeding hearts. So now a precedent has been set. US judges in the future will have the option of deporting their own criminals when those criminals have a residence setup in Canada. Who's next? US judge exiles a Sex Offender to Canada
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Well it looks like this story is nearing it's completion. Immigration Canada has ruled that this convicted US sex offender is of little risk to the Canadian public and he is now free to go about his daily business in Canada. Surprised? I'm not since Canadians tend to be spineless whimps when it comes to crime. Did you know that 3 of Canada's 4 political parties are trying to pass a law right now (and they will succeed since they have the numbers in the house and of course one of these parties, the LIEberals controls the senate). Anyway this new bill soon to be passed will allow people who commit robbery, arson and auto theft to serve their time (assuming they even get caught) in house arrest. The only catch is that no victim can be injured during their crime spree. So if I wanted to (once this new law is in effect), I could rob somebody, burn down their house and steal their car as my get away vehicle and as long as I'm careful to ensure that my victim does not suffer an injury during my crime spree all that will happen to me (assuming I even get caught) is that I get to stay at home during my sentence and play my XBox all day long. Can I collect welfare while I'm at it? Cool ... where's my gun? Oops I don't own a gun. I better go buy one then. FUBAR I say ... so when was turning the other cheek to crime become such a popular thing to do in Canada? I know there are many messed up countries in the world, but Canada is rapidly placing itself near the top of the list of countries which have just plain and simply lost it in the favor of being politically correct.
