So. The USA can redraw maps of the world
CanuckInUSA replied to akarunway's topic in Speakers Corner
Let me check...well Iraq's borders looks like they did before, umhhh...Afghanistan's borders look like they did before, ummhhh Georgia's borders look like...wait they're different! Two provinces are no longer there and, well bless my sole, they're occupied by Russians...heavens we did that? Oh yes you can say the US created Georgia, but then you might have to say the US created the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and all the Stans too. I do not agree with what Russia is doing Georgia, but don't forget Kosovo. The USA opened up the door when they recognized Kosovo. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I think Obama might actually be good for the US on the international front (despite his lack of experience) but on the domestic economic front I am sorry he will be a disaster. There is no way in hell he is going to be able to deliver all his domestic promises and still live up to his international promises. Obama should have selected Romney as his VP to handle the domestic economic side, but Romney would probably laugh at him. I still don't understand why the GOP rejected Romney except to say that I guess the GOP doesn't like mormons even though Romney doesn't seem to push his religious views. Oh well ... try not to worry about the things you have no control over. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Will US cities burn if Obama is not elected?
CanuckInUSA replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Those guys were yokels no doubt and yes kudos to the authorities for stopping them. But even the authorities were saying they weren't much of a risk and were pretty much small time drug/gun thugs. To assassinate one of the top dog politicians in America these days requires a pretty sophisticated plan (or an inside job). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

CanuckInUSA replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't think I will be able to vote in your poll since I don't see "Cities" burning down. But I do see the risk that some people in isolate areas could riot and there is the risk that some yokel will try and assassinate Obama. Racism in America (on both sides) is still alive. It's not as bad as it once was, but it still exists. I like Obama better than both Clintons and I like Obama better than GWB. I think McCain is an honorable man, but I would still rather see "None of the Above" beat both Obama and McCain. I will feel better domestically if Romney is McCain's vice prez but internationally I think Obama would be good for the USA and I am sorry to the people blinded by this prospect. GWB and many in the GOP have done some severe damage to the USA's reputation around the world. But domestically there is no way in hell Obama will be able to deliver on all of his promises. The sooner the US gets out of Iraq (assuming it is semi-stable) the better because the hornet's nest is actually in Afghanistan and Pakistan. But Russia and Iran are always wildcards that could really stir the pot. May you live in interesting times and these sure are not dull times. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
I suspect the people being polled are the same ones time after time. Not once has a polster ever contacted me. Plus the various media organizations have their own agenda. I'm still hoping that "None of the Above" will surge ahead in the polls. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Border protection form the deadly Canadians
CanuckInUSA replied to Armour666's topic in Speakers Corner
Well I am on your side in regards to this story. It is an absolute joke how the US authorities are treating this man. Stop the insanity. Stop the planet. I need to get off and find a better place. I wonder what Mars is like this time of year? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Border protection form the deadly Canadians
CanuckInUSA replied to Armour666's topic in Speakers Corner
Blame Canada!!! In all seriousness there are some so called Canadians that you guys should be concerned about (so having lax borders with Canada is a mistake). But when it comes to this story, the US border officials truely are out to lunch. Funny how the US turns a blind eye to millions or illegals on the southern border but they decide to go after a man who almost drowned on the northern border. Blame Canada!!! CanuckInUSA replied to rhys's topic in Speakers Corner
Nope.... we have learned that. I disagree I have held Asia on many occasons. It just takes patience before you move in on it and of course it takes a lucky roll of the dice. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Haha, this is CRAZY stupid!!!
CanuckInUSA replied to iambeav2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Of course downsizing two sizes at 274 jumps is not the smartest thing to be doing. But we do not know how this person is flying their canopy. I weigh 190-195 lbs w/o gear and at least when I was current I was jumping an 87. So a 135 isn't as radical. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way supporting this person, but we need to know how they fly their canopy before we can truly know what is what. BTW @ 274 jumps I was under a Sabre2 170 and learning how to do 180 degree high performance swoops (not really dedicating too many jumps towards canopy control at that time). who would win a war between Russia vs USA if it started right now?
CanuckInUSA replied to rhys's topic in Speakers Corner
LOL as far as Risk is concerned there are only two ways to win. #1) Conquer Australia first and build from there towards holding Africa, Asia, get a foot in Brazil and the sooner you can get a foot in Alaska the better. But worry about North America only after you are solid in Asia and Africa and save Europe for last. #2) Conquer South America, make sure you have a foot in Mexico, take Africa ASAP, get some armies in the Middle East and worry about Europe last. Both methods work, but I find Australia the easier of the two. It means a lot of blood at the beginning of the game if someone else has the same plans as you and you are doomed if you can't hold Australia or South America in the early stages of the war. CanuckInUSA replied to rhys's topic in Speakers Corner
What kind of war? The US has shown us they have some pretty potent weapons and that they are pretty good at invading countries. But I am sorry America, you really suck when it comes to occupying some of these countries. But a nuclear war, well that is just MAAD. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Mitt Romney for prez!!! (assuming he is McCain's vice prez nominee) Come on all you evangelicals, you can look past this man's mormon religion. He has a successful track record running large businesses, he has experience running a government (being the former MA govenor) and he helped save the SLC Winter Olympics. Yes sure he comes off as an arrogant SOB, but he is far more qualified than Obama, Biden and McCain ... combined. BTW I am agnostic not mormon. Not that it matters what I think since I am not even a yank and won't be voting. I am just yet another opinionated Speakers Corner dweeb. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

What annual income puts you among "The Rich"?

The vocal "I hate America" people here in Canuckistan are NOT the politicians and are NOT the business leaders and I do believe the silent majority still supports you guys. These "I hate America" people are your stereo-typical socialists who would much rather align themselves with anyone but America. The worrisome part of Canada is our "no questions asked" immigration policy. We have opened our doors to some people who should not be here. If you let enough [insert your favorite nationality here] people into your country, sooner or later the public opinion changes to that of the new comers and when the new comers hate your neighbour, sooner or later you (by proxy) are deemed as someone who also hates your neighbour. I think there are problems in both countries (not to mention problems all across the globe) and Amerca would do themselves and the world better if you guys became a little less militaristic and listen to what other people around the world have to say. But when push comes to shove, people like me will be supporting you guys over what the Russians and/or Radical Islamists may be up to. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
From a skydiving point of view, you are rich of you can do fun jumps at any time without ever questioning "how much is this going to cost me". In this case, I used to be rich, but I guess I spent much of my old wealth on my jumps. But skydivers and the whuffo world are two radically different topics. One of my 1/2 brothers has not filed an income tax return in about tens years and he works illegally under the table in the USA every summer as a waiter in the state of [censored]. But does this mean I am an experienced or inexperienced IT worker? Don't get me wrong, my favorite candidate in your election is "None of the Above", but people need to be judging Obama and his experience (or lack of). People should not be judging the income his brother lives on as to whether or not Obama is qualified to be prez. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Of an interesting note, (if you want to believe the vocal minority) strong hatred towards the USA in Liberal Canada grows daily and there is no shortage of Liberals here who are siding with their Russian comrades. How does that saying go? "May you live in interesting times". I see civil war in Canada's future with our ever growing "I hate America" open immigration policy. Soon there will be more "I hate America" people in Canuckistan than people who view America as a historical ally with a shared history. But I guess that is what happens when you have an "open no questions asked the more you are out there in left field the more you will fit in" immigration policy like we have here in Canuckistan. Not that it matters that much, Liberals disarmed themselves a long time ago, but just thought you'd be interested to know the ever growing hatred coming from your northern borders. What annual income puts you among "The Rich"?
CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm sorry I have pretty much ignored your presidential race as of late, but if this thread was started because Obama said this and McCain said that, I have to laugh. Just remember when it comes to taxes you Americans are some of the lesser taxed people around the globe. People think $22 (or even $25) jump tickets are expensive? Come to Canada with our much higher taxation and enjoy our $35 to $38 jump tickets. Better yet, go to Europe. I think it is even higher there. This is known, the fiscal situation of the US government is not a pretty picture and whether new taxes are required for all of Obama's "trust me I will fix all your problems" socialism or McCain's "I plan on continuing GWB's military spending", America's government debt grows out of control. So who feels rich out there? I sure as heck don't. But I also don't feel poor. But where will the world be 10 years from now? I say there is a strong possibility more and more of us will starting feeling more poor than we do rich. The middle class is shrinking fast. Very fast. What annual income puts you among "The Rich"?
CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes I would say your lifestyle is "rich". But that doesn't give you much for those possible rainy days at the end of the year. Not as many people wouldn't be losing their homes if they lived within their means and saved more than they do. In two weeks I will be coming off of a five month unemployed streak and I would have been screwed if it wasn't for my "rainy day" savings. Of course now I must start rebuilding this rainy day fund since it has been depleated from where it was six month ago. BTW I am not sure where you are going with this. Rich is nothing more than a preception. Money allows people more freedom to do things, but money alone does not bring happiness. Then again, no money often (not always) brings dispair. CanuckInUSA replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
It used to be $100k ... but now I'd say it's higher. So I voted $250k. Then again it is not necessarily what you make, but what you spend versus what you make. You could make over 1 million a year, but if you spend 1+ million you are hardly going to be rich at the end of the year. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
You will also want to practice flying your rear risers on your skydives (up high not low to the ground) since rear riser flight is important in GL. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
