  1. Nice ... some swooper is immortalized in google. Plus turning over those power lines must be trippy. There is a DZ I have swooped at in Alberta that has power lines I turn over and dive down on and it's not easy to tell yourself (they will not be an issue when you come out of the turn). But it is the right thing to do if you want to make the entry gates. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. I never knew Kara's last name, but it sure looks like her. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Close ... their first meetings on the infamous grassy knoll you refer to, was held in secrecy on "Jekyll Island". If you don't know anything about the Federal Reserve or their history you can continue on your blissful journey. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. It is true Barack Obama is a million times more intelligent and likable that the previous moron who held the job. But if Obama really was serious about helping the America people, if he was serious about REAL change, he would shutdown the "Federal Reserve" instead of borrowing trillions of dollars from this very same organization thus ensuring present and future generations of Americans (and people around the world) are in debt up to their eye balls and channel the majority of their income tax dollars into the pockets of the already ubber rich banking cartel. I am sure most of you know this, but for those of you who don't know this, there is nothing Federal about the Federal Reserve. It has nothing to do with the American government, it is a private organization. So why does American continue to let the Rockefeller family and the rest of the international central banking cartels control the nation and it's policies? No I am sorry Virginia. There is no Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny is not real. GWB did not cause the current crisis (he's not smart enough to have even conceived it). The Federal Reserve caused the crisis and their new puppet Barack Husein Obama has no plans whatsoever in changing anything. It is full steam ahead, borrowing and spending money the nation does not have. No I am sorry Virginia, despite what your eyes told you and the commemorative DVD your parent's purchased for 3 easy payments of $39.95 each, your savior Barack Obama did NOT part the Red sea. It was all smoke and mirrors. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Living in SoCal, I'm going to have to say no to this. My guess is SoCal is far more ethnically diverse than the entirety of Canada. I don't for a second doubt that SoCal is not ethnically diverse, but have you even been to one of Canada's big cities lately? Name a country any country and I guarantee you there will be people from that country living in one of those cities. BTW ... interesting thread, one of the rare ones that is not all that partisan with it's politics. I was just curious to how people feel and enough people have told me their opinions. Common consensus seems to be ... NO Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. It took me 4 posts before I mentioned that the person in question was a Muslim. BTW ... you can have the Canadian Muslim terrorist Omar Khadr. Despite what Liberals tell you, the majority of Canadians do not want him. Have fun with this thread ... I have got work to do today and will NOT be posting here during the day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Should military service be mandatory? First off let me state that I feel there should be a distinction between combat roles and non combat roles. I do believe that combat is best left to the volunteers so I am definitely not asking if combat should be mandatory. Anyway you look around society and what do you see? There are millions of less than inspiring people who feel they entitled to the easy life, but few show any sort of responsibility or work ethics. I could pick on the overweight XBox generation (they are easy targets) but truth be told these trends started before the computer gamers ever hit the streets. If governments are going to spend trillions creating "make work" projects in these less than stellar economic times is it better to feed a person a fish every day or is it better to teach them how to fish. I am far from perfect, but a brief stint in Canada's reserves back in the early 1980s really did wonders in turning my life around and it taught me a lot about personal responsibility (plus shooting the machine guns was fun ... cleaning them not so much fun, but there was a price to be paid to be allowed to shoot those machine guns). I feel that if Canada and the USA made non combative military service mandatory to both sexes, it would do wonders towards helping both countries teaching people some much need life skills. Of course one needs to be careful not to create an atmosphere like the Hitler Youth, but it has to be better than the current path we find ourselves in. Plus it might help some people identify with the nation they call home more. Look at Canada's military (LOL yes it is small, but we have one) and there are virtually no immigrants in it. Yet Canada is probably the world's most ethnically diverse nation. Why is this? Is Canada not worth their effort? What sort of message do they send (we will take from your country but give nothing in return). So "yes" or "no" ... should some sort of non combative military service be mandatory. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Haha ... I actually did (voluntarily) move back several years ago because I was only there working as a temporary NAFTA worker and thanks to years of "I hate America" rhetoric coming from Liberal Canada, the INS became rather difficult to work with in regards to renewing my TN-1 work visas. I just kept the screen name ... what was I going to do, start a new "CanuckUsedToBeInUSAButNowBackInCanuckistan" name? Despite taking a 10% pay cut + paying more taxes on a dollar which is worth less than the US greenback, for now at least financially I am better off here only because I get to live in my house which is pretty much paid off (and well what can I say your economy sucks right now). But Canada is freaking annoying with it's dependency on the Liberal nanny state and it's "everyone should be on house arrest" attitude and I see America making the same mistakes Canada made years ago. Obama is a great speaker and a likable character (yes he is an improvement over Bush), but it appears that he is only a front man and there is a real rotten smell coming from behind the scenes. When Hollywood and the MSM use their money to influence the lemmings ... well it is a recipe for your new nanny state you guys are heading towards. PS: I like America more than I like Canuckistan. But thanks to "I hate America" Liberals in Canada, they made being in America harder for a NAFTA technology worker like myself. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. This is a two day old story. It is NOT old news. A TV execute from a station he personally setup to promote "How Muslims are misunderstood" cuts off the head of his wife because she files for divorce and this is nothing more than an honor killing in the Muslim community. So not a peep on TV from any of the MSM networks (only a regurgitated AP news wire story), not a peep from your Women's groups, not a peep from any of your other left leaning citizens coalitions. Sure there are lunatics in every society. But do the math ... the MSM refuses to report this story because it does not sit well with the message they want to brainwash their lemmings with. Liberals have turned Canada is to a haven for crime (crime actually pays here). Liberals do not believe we should punish people in Canada because after all they are nothing more than poor victims of the world who need to be nourtured (ie: controlled) by the Liberal nanny state and you folks are heading down the same path we are on. Oh by the way, Canadian Liberals want their homegrown terrorist back (Omar Khadr). We keep telling you guys, you can keep him, but Canadian Liberals want to parade Khadr down the streets of Toronto as the hero they think he is. Who cares if he decided to bare arms against an ally of Canada in a foreign land he had no business being in. Some people would view these actions of Khadr as treasonous. But not here in Canuckistan. In Liberal Canuckistan Omar Khadr is a hero for killing Americans. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. The evidence is there that America is turning into a nation of fruit loops just like Canada has been for years. In Canuckistan a man takes his two infant daughters into -40 degree weather wearing only t-shirts and shorts, he abandons them because he is drunk as a skunk, they die and what happens? Our Liberal media and our Liberal justice system views the man as a victim of the world because he has a drinking problem and sentences him to house arrest when in reality what they should have done was deposit him in an open field in the middle of nowhere with -40 degree temperatures so he can contemplate what he put his two daughters through. Keep up the good work with your desire to turn America into a Liberal nanny state. Canada sure is setting a good example for you and your media to follow. Who needs to have personal responsibility ethics when "BIG GOVERNMENT" will be there to look after your every need. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. I did some searches before I posted NBC ... nada CBS ... nada ABC ... links to the CNN stories but not their own story. In Canada CBC ... nada CTV ... nada to me NBC, CBS, ABC, CBC and CTV are the MSM media I was referring to. CNN and FOX while popular are cable networks. Besides it is all the same story word for word. What the heck ... who cares if this man cut off his wife's head. Why be responsible for your own actions when Liberal governments promise they will look after every aspect of your life for you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Why is it if you search "Muzzamil Hassan" at any of the main stream media websites (NBC, CBS, ABC in the USA and CBC and CTV in Canada) you get nada, nothing, ziltch. But "Google" the same name and you will see "Muzzamil Hassan, 44 founder of the Bridges TV station charged with beheading his wife because she filed for divorce". - Feb 17th, 2009. What the MSM trying to hide? Is beheading your wife not news these days because it will hurt the Liberal message to their lemmings that the world is full of nothing but victims and Liberals feel people should not be held responsible for their actions. You know up here in Canuckistan a year or two ago our Liberals tried to change a crime bill that would see people who committed armed robbery, arson and auto theft spend their time under house arrest instead of spending time in jail (plus we are the only the country in the world where you can blow up an airplane killing 300 of your fellow citizens and still be allowed to walk free in society). But at the same time the Liberals feel that those nasty ducks hunters better register their rifles because true Liberals believe that a gun registry will forever rid the nation of all gun crime because the nanny state will be there to take care of your every need. Be careful America. You have some major issues to work out (Bush was not a good president), but you are on the road towards becoming a nation of dependent nanny staters like we are here in Canuckistan and reporting the beheading of the wife of a prominent TV executive is just not sending the right message to the lemmings that need to be brainwashed. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. What ever you folks in the USA do towards improving your healthcare system, DO NOT ... I repeat ... DO NOT LOOK TO CANADA on how to run a successful public healthcare system. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Lame ... LOL Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. I attempted to watch them on "HULU.COM" and I was greeted with a "We are sorry, our video can only be streamed inside of the USA, blah blah blah" error message. Now don't get me wrong, these are just commercials and not worth getting worked up about. I would have to ask a European friend to see if they get the same error message. LOL ... it's a conspiracy!!! But ... I still say Canada is LAME!!! Nothing but a bunch of politically correct nanny state dependent wussy chimps in this country. Haha!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. I am not that different than you regulator (though I have probably had half as many jobs as you have had). But I have been working in the IT world since the mid 80s and the longest I ever worked for a company was 4+ years (it happened twice) with the average only being about 12-18 months per company. Of course nobody wants to lose their job when they are not the ones initiating the termination, but I do have to laugh at some of the people who panic when faced with unemployment. I am sure I have not seen it all, but I feel like I have seen almost all the ways companies like to lay people off and so now when it happens I have that "been there done that" feeling. I have some sympathy for the younger generation in times like this because I know what it is like. I finished school in the early 80s just in time for one of the nasty recessions of our time. But sometimes tough times are what are required to bring people out of their comfort zones. We in the western world have become rather soft when it comes to living standards and lifestyles. The world is changing folks. Gone are the days of "a job for life with a generous pension". Those who are unwilling to adapt to this ever changing world will be left behind. We all need to become more entrepreneurial and do what we need to be proactive towards making ourselves and/or our products more marketable. Waiting for the government to create a job for you is NOT the way to move forward in these times. Carpe Diem. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Right and the CRTC has nothing to do with this censorship. LOL Canada has the CRTC. How much more lame can you get? The folks at Pravda would be proud. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. It may not have been reviewed by the ref, but the replays we saw and the replays the guys in the booth would have seen, showed that the Steelers defensive player got his hand on the ball before Warner's arm was moving forward. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. First off great game, congrats to the Steelers and the Cardinals for putting on a very entertaining game. But ... as the title of this thread states CANADA HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST LAME COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. We don't get the good Super Bowl commercials, instead we get the lamest most "politically correct made for wussy chimps" commercials here. I guess this is because Canada is fully of politically correct wussy chimps who can not survive without their government nanny state masters to hold their hand from the cradle to the grave (am I allowed to slam my own country? LOL ... too late). Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 23 and LOL I s##t you not, my pregame prediction was: Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 21 Damn holding call for a safety caused me some major bragging rights. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Thanks for the kind words folks. This is the first time someone who lived with me, someone who depended on me for 15 years passed away and it is not easy. I know at least one of the people who replied to me had to experience this with their own child and I can only imagine what they went through. Scratchy will be cremated and next summer I will take her ashes on a jump and release them into the skies. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. A lot of what you wrote could also apply to myself. I hate to admit this but I stayed on the ground for the entire summer of 2008 and my jump numbers from the summer of 2007 were not something to boast about either. Why did I not jump? 1) First off I am back in my native Canada (which is experiencing some down right arctic weather right now) and skydiving up here is just not the same as it was for me where I did the majority of my 1600 jumps in Colorado from 2002-2006. 2) I had an old cat that was starting to require more attention (she passed away this morning). In the good old days I could go away to the DZ for the weekend and leave lots of food and water for her. But as she aged, I could no longer go away for more than 24 hours. So as much as I loved her and as much as I will miss her, the burden of having to be close to home has been lifted ... for now. 3) I was unemployed during the summer of 2008 and I used the time to do some renovations on my house. 4) Last summer the price of fuel was crazy. Driving to the DZ (not knowing if I would even be able to jump) and having to deal with high jump tickets while being unemployed just was too much. 5) The Cypres and Cypres2 in both of my rigs need to be sent in (heck the old Cypres might even be close to the end of it's allowed lifetime) and the reserves in both rigs are out of date. There are riggers here in Canada, but there are not many. So there you have it. Lot's of lame excuses why I have allowed myself to become uncurrent (actually I think caring for my old cat wasn't so lame, I am not the type who accepts neglecting animals). My profile lists my current canopy as a JVX 87 (and the last time I jumped it in the summer of 2007 I was still ripping some monster safe swoops with it). But it is a good thing that I also own a Spectre 150 because I am not so sure I should be jumping the JVX 87 anytime soon. I knew I was never going to be one of the best (age was not on my side as I am now 45) and not being able to swoop all 12 months of the year hurts me. But I did have several full and fun seasons on the competitive swooping circuits and was lucky enough to be allowed to compete in numerous regional Colorado and Pacific Northwest swooping events, two CPC Championships and two PST events. Now that I am free to travel more, I will get my reserves repacked at some point and I will get back in the air (not sure how much swooping I should do, but at least I know how to properly train to be a swooper). I just hope the economy doesn't tank even worse than it has. If you believe the media, it is really bad out there. But I still see tons of people with money running around the world. Anyway ... to the new skydivers who may read this. Skydiving is a great sport (definitely worth doing). But don't let it consume you to the point where the only thing that matters is your next jump. Been there done that ... RIP Scratchy (my recently deceased cat) I will be taking your ashes up for a skydive. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. My 17 year old cat (who has been with me since 1993) woke me up at 6:00 am with cries of help and within minutes I watched her die. This is obviously upsetting to me. I loved her dearly and she was a good cat and a great friend. But it is also something that was expected to happen sooner or later (she was 17) and I guess I can do more traveling now that I don't have to be close to home to care for her. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. LOL ... the other dude sounds more like a skydiver than you. You decided to get above her? So that you can freefall into her soon to be open canopy? LMAO ... some safety concious skydiver you are. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I miss CO ... but I do have a well paying job (at least for now) up here in the frozen north. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Listening to the main stream media you would think the USA is on the verge of collapse. But I am not buying it. There is so much wealth in the USA there is no way in hell the US economy has collapsed and that everyone needs to be bailed out. Look around you ... people are still spending thousands and thousands of dollars to skydive, people are still spending money on their entertainment, there is no shortage of people flying around the country meeting each other in bars for drinks, no shortage of people saying they will be off skiing and snowboarding at the resorts and look around you ... millions and millions of people will be attending professional and college sporting events this weekend alone with the average person spending $50 on their entertainment ticket (not counting how much money they will spend on transportation, food and drink). So America before you tell the world how hard up you are and that you need government handouts (in reference to your media) please remember you are so much richer than everyone else in the world. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
