Danielle Smith is the new leader of the upstart "Wildrose Alliance" provincial party in Alberta Canada. Ms Smith is more than just a pretty face. She is a very intelligent person. Keep in mind Canada's firearm laws are pretty restrictive compared to the USA, but here is what Ms Smith thinks about possible gun law changes in Alberta: Finally if people out there are curious who this woman is and you have some free time, visit her website to read up on her various policies as well as listen to a few of her radio interviews. It is rather refreshing to have a fiscal conservative libertarian running for office after all these years. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Pat Robertson acting like, well, himself, again.
CanuckInUSA replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
I recently heard some researchers are starting to think computer games can help people who are showing signs of developing Alzheimers since it helps them keep their brain active with their eye hand coordination. Clearly Pat Robinson has lost it. He needs to spend more time with an xBox or Play Station and less time talking on the 700 Club. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

That link does nothing for me. You shoulda used This Link. Of course, I'm mainly impressed with her intelligence. ROFLMAO ... you could not possibly be implying that it is bad when a woman is attractive? Open minded people should listen to what Ms Smith has to say before they go judging her based on her appearance. But Ms Smith has nothing to do with Queen Pelosi (at least not yet) so I will cease speaking about her here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

He was also a nazi sympathizer. Why do you support Hitler? Good grief ... hmmm ... no I do not support Hitler, you see first off he is dead. It is kind of hard for me to support someone who is dead. Secondly I was not alive when Hitler brought terror into the world and if I was alive I would have been on the side that was fighting him. Was I guilty in this thread of NOT reading every supplied URL? Yes guilty as charged. So I will back off slamming Queen Pelosi for her desire to have her own personal 200 person jet. I was wrong to imply she needed this jet. There I said it. But you are dreaming if I won't take future pot shots at Pelosi because she is a certifiable nut case. But I will also go whenever I hear Sarah Palin talk that God chose her to be a VP candidate. Lately she too has been acting like a certifiable nut case. Finally, before any politically correct affirmative actioner tries to accuse me of being sexist since I am slamming both Pelosi and Palin, I am hoping that this woman becomes the next premiere of Alberta ... you know that some what important province in Canada that supplies the USA with more crude oil than Saudi Arabia does (but most people don't know this for whatever dumb reason). Of course Ms Smith has nothing to do with Queen Pelosi, that is unless Pelosi wants to bite the NAFTA hand that feeds the USA's energy dependency. In which case if Ms Smith ever does become premiere, she will be an important person to listen to. Ms Smith is in the early stages of her political career, so it remains to be seen how far she goes. But she is impressing a lot of people up here with her intelligence. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Why are people not more angry at Wall Street?
CanuckInUSA replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't view Wall Street and the Federal Reserve as the same entity. Wall Street is where greedy brokers and greedy money market managers gather to trade things which often have little to bear on whether a company is poorly run or if they run a tight ship. What happens on Wall Street often does not make sense on main street. The Federal Reserve are the ones who are taking your money and turning around and lending it back to you for their profit. The Bilderberg Group is out to make us all their slaves. I total support the idea of reforming "The Fed" ... but will the Bilderberg Group allow this? They have something lucrative and they will not give it up without a fight. I am assuming you are not directing this to me personally. I assure you I am not rich (at least not Wall Street rich) and I am not poor. I am somewhere in the middle and I am just lucky enough that I purchased a house before the markets took off and was lucky enough that through hard work working for corporations, my debt is fairly low compared to the average Joe out there. I shit on porcelain not gold. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Why are people not more angry at Wall Street?
CanuckInUSA replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't know ... what are you proposing? Civil Unrest? Anarchy? something else? Maybe people realize that while corporations are far from perfect they still allow people to earn a living if they put a little effort into their careers? Capitalism is far from perfect. It has it's winners and losers. Businesses are not in business to employ people. Businesses are in business to make money. I know this makes leftists and marxists extremely angry. But since when have leftists and marxists ever been concerned about their work ethic. What is the alternative? An end to the free markets, an end to Capitalism and a rise of Global Communism? I value my personal sovereignty. While I acknowledge the greed of Wall Street, I find Wall Street far less offensive than the alternative where the government tells me what I do for a living, tells me where I live, where I can travel, etc, etc, etc. Now the Federal Reserve is a different can of worms. The Bilderberg Group is out to mess all of us over. but it will likely effect future generations more than the present. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Want to talk about being terrorized ... the thought that Nancy Pelosi could possibly be the Grand Poobah of the USA would bring terror down my spine. I sure as heck don't want to see Sarah Palin be prez (IMHO she is not the right person) ... but Nancy Pelosi be the head honcho? Good grief ... scary ... Canadian politics is a joke (if America ever cared about what happened in the rest of the world you would know what I mean). But the only thing worse than Canadian politics, is US politics. Interesting ... in 1927 Charles Lindbergh was able to fly non-stop from New York to Paris in a small aircraft, but in 2010 Nancy Pelosi needs a 200 seat aircraft to travel a similar distance? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Hmmm ... you should NOT bring Canada into this Drew. As long as Canada is allies with the USA, Canada does not need to spend money on it's defense like other countries need to spend. The US has proven time again that they are 2nd to none when it comes to invading counties. They just really suck at occupying them. But if the USA ever wanted to feel good about it's ability to occupy a country they could do it in Canada. Liberal Canada has disarmed itself and the people who do have weapons tend to like America. But if the USA did not have it's military, Russia, China ... heck Somalia could invade and occupy Canada. But did I miss the memo? The title of this thread was about Nancy Pelosi wasting tax payers money using a 200 person Jet to charter herself back and forth across the country. I didn't know this thread was instead about the military complex. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well since we are now allowed to swear, what the FUCK does myself being involved with skydiving have to do with this FUCKING thread? You can't be serious when you say I am in the wrong sport. Nancy Pelosi is grossly wasting tax payers money (she is not the first nor is she the last politician to do this). In a time of global economic troubles, Queen Pelosi (one of the most powerful people) refuses to lead by example. You need to put aside your partisan politics for once and recognize this. I do not always agree with what Bill Von has to say on every subject, but I respect the man because he is capable of of acting in a bipartisan manner. It's not hard, but it can be time consuming. There is a Kerdi shower kit that you can purchase that comes with the floor pan and drain. It helps to make the shower water tight before the tile is laid (plus you can put down the kerdi membrane on the walls to make the walls water tight before the tiles are laid). There are a lot of resources on the net to educate you on how to do the job and do it right the first time. Google "kerdi shower system" and go from there. If Obama signs the UN's Agenda 21 Treaty, there will no longer be a US Constitution. Not saying he's about to sign any treaty today or tomorrow, but he is heading towards this and today's youth are already being re-educated in school to believe in this global economic sustainability agenda. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

No need to worry. Pretty soon under the UN's Agenda 21 treaty Obama is heading towards signing, general aviation will be deemed as Economically Unsustainable and all private aircraft will be seized and destroyed. BASE Jumping will be the only parachuting sport and violators who leave the high density human controlled zones will likely be arrested and/or shot. Sounds a little far fetched? Maybe ... but anyone who agrees to give up their freedom in order to satisfy the UN's Agenda 21 is asking for this type of world. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This is more than just the UN's desire to talk away people's rights to protect themselves with guns. This is about the UN taking over control of your lives. If people do not want to watch the entire 9 minutes and 14 seconds of the video below, fast forward to the 8 minute and 33 second mark and tell me if you agree or disagree with what the commenter is saying. For those of you who disagree, I guess you do not believe in the US Constitution and you believe the UN has the right to tell you how will be living your life moving forward. I think what happythoughts posted here is one of the best things said in this entire thread. Kallend if you are not against "banning" please elaborate more on how you think the laws can be better replaced. Most people will agree that we don't want mentally unstable people shooting up places where we live and work, but there seems no easy solution when you take the "red" pill and the "blue" pill is artificial bliss. Historically I was anti-gun (what can I say I was brainwashed by Canadian Liberals), but then thanks to some gun debates I have had here I became gun neutral. However lately I find myself becoming more open to firearms (I did actually get to shoot them when I was briefly in Canada's military back in the 1980s, so it's not like I don't have some exposure to them). Obviously if you bring a gun to a fist fight, shit is going to turn out bad. In light of what is happening around the world, we are finding ourselves repeating what happened in the 1920s and 1930s and if we are not careful we will find ourselves back in the same crap the world was in during the early 1940s. I am sorry when the [insert whatever you want to call them] come knocking at my door to tell me I no longer live there, while I may find myself out gunned I am not planning on going quietly. If defending oneself from oppression and tyranny makes me a loony, then lets get the party going with some "Loony Tunes". There is no shortage of times in history when people who could not defend themselves were prey upon by those who where there to be aggressive. Up here in Canuckistan we have some pretty anal gun laws. But fortunately the LIEberals have failed to ban them outright ... yet. In the past I know I have debated some folks here on the need to have weapons and then I adopted a "I am neutral on firearms, I am not for them I am not against them" stance. But lately I seem to be changing ... that's right I am thinking of obtaining my "Possession and Acquisition License" which will allow me, someone with no criminal record the right to own a 7.62 caliber semi-automatic rifle for the primary purpose of target shooting and maybe hunting those nasty gophers farmers refer to as rats when I am on crown land. I do not feel I need a weapon for personal safety from thugs mainly because I don't go around associating with the criminal element, so they don't really know I exist ... but rest assured if society ever does take a turn for the worse and some undesirable criminals, zombies, terrorists, militias or yes even government police and/or armies ever come knocking on my door, I want to know that I will at least not be defenseless like millions and millions of Jews, Gypsies and ethic Russians were in Europe in the 1930s and 1940s (not to mention the millions of Cambodians who disappeared). But I will be sure to thank the LIEberals after I drop the first five bad guys and the sixth bad guy kills me, because Canuckistan's LIEberals have passed a law which only allows me to carry 5 rounds in the mags for any weapon I may own. Oh here is a funny video for those who have an open mind and don't believe in 100% gun control http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZS7Jdg24j4 Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Gilbert look shaking on many many plays, but you have to believe he gained a lot of experience in this game which will help him next season and the years to come. It was a tough blow for TX to lose McCoy so soon in the game, but they should be proud of their effort in the 2nd half. The Longhorns could have easily rolled over and played dead, but they did the opposite and made the 2nd half worth watching. BTW: Congrats to the Crimson Tide for your undefeated Championship season. New Poll: 2009 BCS National Championship, who will win?
CanuckInUSA replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
I almost turned the game off at half time. I am glad I didn't. Tough break for Texas to lose Colt McCoy on the 2nd offensive series of the game. But kudos must go out to the Longhorns. They could have easily rolled over and died in the 2nd half after that tough 1st half. But they didn't. They played hard and made it a very interesting game. At times McCoy's backup Gilbert was out of his league. But this evenings game will go a long way towards making him a good (possibly great) QB in the years to come. Congrats to the Crimson Tide on your undefeated championship season. With tons of talent returning next year the SEC and even the entire NCAA better watch out. Can Alabama repeat? Time will tell. Now will some high profile school please play Boise State. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
New Poll: 2009 BCS National Championship, who will win?
CanuckInUSA replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
Alabama fairly easily manhandled a good Florida team in the SEC Championship game while Texas just barely squeaked out a win against a decent but not dominate Nebraska team in the Big 12 Championship game. Based on these results one would think the Tide should roll tonight. But the only time you ever see the best SEC team play the best Big 12 team is in a Bowl game. So just because 'Bama looked good against FL does not mean they will automatically squish TX. There is a reason why they play the games. Anything could happen. I just hope it is an entertaining game. My crystal ball is saying the Crimson Tide will win, but my crystal ball was made in China and I am not sure if there is or isn't some toxic sludge that oozing from my Chinese made crystal ball that may be clouding my judgment.
