Unless someone is a Clifford Olson type of killer, you know damn well that a life sentence in Canada does not mean life. To top it off we have that lovely 2 for 1 deal which is used by the defense lawyers to their advantage. The Canadian justice system is NOT balanced. It is a fucking joke. Criminals of the world come to Canada ... our justice system is setup to treat you with all the rights and privileges you could ever imagine. If we catch you murdering someone and find you guilty we WILL sentence you to life in prison. Ohhhh aghhh ... sounds scary. But let's examine this. Life in prison in Canada is 25 years. On average it takes about 4 years from capture to conviction. With our 2 for 1 program, that means you can knock off 4 years from the sentence. But life in prison is never life in prison, since we strongly believe that 1st degree murderers should be eligible for parole in half this time. So 25 years is actually only about 12 years (on average), drop the 4 years for your 2 for 1 and someone who is convicted of 1st degree murder in Canada has a decent chance of only ever serving 8 years in prison. Meanwhile the victim of the murderous crime is given a real life sentence ... in that they lost their life. Balanced criminal justice system? Balanced only in the eyes of a Liberal. I can't watch YouTube video's on this computer I am using now (sites like YouTube are blocked), so I will need to watch it later at home. But as sad as this may sound, I think we are living in a pipe dream if people ever think war will end. The strong have always preyed on the weak, and the not so weak fight back. People die ... it's been like this for thousands of years. One thing I am sure of though is that many of us (myself included) have never experienced war up front and personal and those of us who have not experienced war do not have the same understanding as those who have been there. It is easy for me to fire up my "Call of Duty" games and experience the chaos of battle, but it's no biggie when I die. I just hit re-set. Because of this, I am fairly aggressive in those games. But I was watching a YouTube video the other night of some recent real world raw combat footage and it was interesting. The US soldiers had cornered some guy in a building. In my "Call of Duty" game I would just throw a frag in, storm the building and shoot the enemy dead. But in real life, you could tell the real fear of possible death in these soldiers actions. Eventually they got the guy, but it took a while. We think one shot is all that is needed to get the enemy, but the reality is that soldiers usually (on average) expend thousands of rounds just for one kill. Over the years, I have not paid much attention to the damage done in Iraq, but after watching some of the video recently I can see much of the country is in ruins thanks to this war. War is hell (at least this is what we are told), but I can't see it going away anytime soon. However it would be nice if politicians stopped using it as a tool. We are lucky in North America, the US civil war was the last time a big conflict took place on North American soil. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

The Taliban is part of Afghanistan's "political fabric,"

There are bombs going off in every war. People dying in every conflict. Take the lowest common denominator and you can compare anything you want. That still does not resolve the Afghanistan issue. It's FUBAR'ed ... damned if you do, damned if you don't. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Was there Nukes in N Ireland? Was there a risk that the Catholics or the Protestants would gain control of these nukes? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

If you want to compare fruit to fruit, then yes there is a religious conflict in Afghanistan just as there was a religious conflict in N. Ireland. But that is pretty generic comparison. Afghanistan is an Islamic nation. There are those in Afghanistan (let's call them the Taliban) who want strict Sharia Law (heck their interpretations of Sharia Law are the most radical the world has ever seen) and then there are the Islamics in Afghanistan who want to continue practicing their Muslim faith, but they do not want this strict Sharia Law interpretation where public executions are carried out for the most minor of offenses. Hardly the same scenario that was occurring in N. Ireland where the Catholics wanted to united with Ireland and the Protestants want to stay aligned to the United Kingdom. There was no Sharia Law issues in N Ireland, there was no question of Catholics or Protestants taking control of Pakistan's nukes. But hey this is the internet where people want to argue ... so sure why not. Afghanistan is just like N Ireland ... lets take sides. I can't talk about US Liberals, but up here in Canuckistan, Canadian Liberals have such hatred for Conservatives that they have decided to take sides with their Taliban buddies. Canadian Liberals freak out when a Taliban is taken prisoner, but rejoice when the Taliban attack the invading crusaders. The hatred Canadian Liberals have towards Conservatives is so strong, that Canadian Liberals seem to think if they treat their Taliban friends nicely, the Taliban will be open to Canadian Liberal's morals (same sex marriage, drug usage, infidelity, pornography ... you know all those things Taliban love doing ... ). Afghanistan is FUBARed ... damned if you do, damned if you don't. I don't have the answers ...except I do know Liberals have much more in common with Conservatives than they do with the Taliban and it would be nice if Canadian Liberals stopped thinking of NATO as crusanders and stopped thinking of the Taliban is their political allies. The Taliban want to kill Liberals just as much as they want to kill Conservatives and they the Taliban are laughing the way Liberals and Conservatives continue to wage war against each other. The conflict in Northern Ireland was NOT secular. It was between the Romain Catholics who wanted to unite with Ireland and the Protestants who wanted to stay a part of the United Kingdom. comparing Apples and Oranges ... again What's happening in Afghanistan is different than what happened in N. Ireland. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Some men just can't keep their dicks in their pants. My late father (who divorced my mother soon after I was born) was a retired Air Force jet fighter pilot and a retired airline pilot. He is an example of a man who would just not be faithful and screwed around with any skirt who would let him. I have 2 siblings that share the same mother and father with and another dozen or so half siblings who share the same father from numerous different wives (these are the ones I know about, how many more are out there that I don't know). Of course my late father was only an airline pilot, he never sought public office. Not to pick on one man, but I wonder how many little "William Jefferson Clinton JRs" there are out there? "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" BTW ... How is Tiger's dental work coming along? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

The IRA didn't hold public executions in their soccer stadiums. The IRA didn't execute women for being women. But Afghanistan is much more challenging than N. Ireland. No easy answers that is for sure. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

If you can believe it, our Liberal judicial system will be releasing these Jihadist within the next couple of years as free men. If the USA ever releases Omar Khadr (a Canadian born man who was caught by US forces in Afghanistan and is accused of throwing a grenade and killing a US medic after the fire fight was over) is ever released from Gitanimo and returned back to Canada, he will be greeted with a hero's welcome parade through the streets of Toronto. If you were smart you would start keeping a careful eye what goes on up here in Canuckistan. I shit you not, there are millions and millions of people who hate your guts, who would love to see the USA destroyed. Some of these Canadian citizens who hate your guts are actually from Somalia, some are from Yemen, many from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, etc, etc, etc. But most are actually born right here in Canada. I know I will likely catch shit from a few Canadians for saying all this here on dizzy.com ... they will deny it. But deep down they know it's true. There are millions and millions of Canadian citizens who would be very happy if the USA was to suffer another major attack. Of course there would be millions and millions more Canadians who would be angry, sad and disgusted. It is a divided nation. Keep an eye on Canada ... under the Liberal Party of Canada leadership (which will return to power at some point in time), there is a "no questions asked" immigration policy. PS: Google "Air India Flight 182" if you are curious. Canada is the only nation on this planet where you can admit that you built the bomb which blew up a 747 killing 300+ people, and still be allowed to walk as a free man on the streets. The judicial system in Canada is a fucking joke. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/06/02/f-toronto-timeline.html http://search.cbc.ca/search?ie=UTF-8&site=CBC&output=xml_no_dtd&client=CBC&lr=&getfields=description&proxystylesheet=CBC&oe=UTF-8&searchWeb=cbc&q=bomb+plot+case Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I am sorry, you are the one who insists on comparing the incident behind this thread with the lawlessness in Somalia. If you had never made that comparison, I never would have jumped into this thread. I do NOT support the fool behind this thread who took 8 lives in Virginia. It is ludicrous to compare the anarchy in Somalia with gun crimes in the USA. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Lunatics murdering people ... yes the two incidents have some similarities. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Too funny dude ... you are correct, everyone else is wrong. You should be a politician. "George the Russian" feels there should be a world wide ban on all firearms, and that law abiding private citizens should never be allowed to own them, only the police should ever be allowed to be armed. Then everyone will live happily ever after in La La World. That is until the police come knocking at your door in the middle of the night telling you that you don't live there anymore. Of course you say this would never happen in your Utopian society since everyone is so happy at how the state takes care of them ... but history tells you that, well you were sleeping during history class. There is no shortage of times throughout history when the strong preyed on the weak. Given a choice between living in the anarchy conditions of Somali versus when Stalin preyed on the ethnic communities of Russia, or when Hitler preyed on the Jews/Gypsies or when Pol Pot preyed on the helpless people of Cambodia, etc, etc, etc ... I will take Somali's armed anarchy any day over being a helpless "soon to be dead" victim. You are dreaming if you think you will rid the world of firearms. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

First off Somali does not have a government. At least not one that resembles anything we in our Western culture are used to. Secondly besides anarchy, the only thing that is prevalent in Somali is their belief in Islam. Tell me ... what does a Libertarian and a devote Muslim have in common? Nada ... nothing ... Once again you are all alone out there in Left field trying to compare these Virginia murders with Somali. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
Lay off the crack cocaine dude. Somali is NOT a Libertarian state. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
Somali is an example of anarchy. If America ever get as bad as Somali, then it too would be a living hell. But you are rather far out there in left field comparing the murder of 8 people by one deranged person to what is happening to Somali these last few decades. Compare this shooting to Columbine? Yes Compare this shooting to other mass murders? Yes Compare this shooting to Somali? Apples and Oranges. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yeah, you can find little bits and pieces of them here and here and here and here and here and here and . . . I guess it is "buyer's beware" on the used market. I better look for a new model if I want more "bang" for my buck. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

World Communism ... Today's adults may not want it, may not believe in Communism. But the youth of the world are being indoctrinated as we speak into believing in "Economic Sustainability all in the name of controlling Climate Change". Unless parents of today start taking a more proactive roll in raising their children to be independent, there is nothing stopping this indoctrination. But most parents do a piss poor job raising their children and prefer to let the state and the media do it for them. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Not to worry Chuck Thanks to the United Nation's "Agenda 21", soon the state will be doing your thinking for you. They will tell you where you can live, they will tell you where you can travel, they will tell you what job you will be doing, they will tell you how you will get to and from your home/job on their green public transit system. They will tell you what information is acceptable "Climate Friendly" reading and what information is unhealthy and not sustainable. They will even tell you not to worry about raising your children because they will be all too happy to raise your children for you while you are off working at your green job. Every aspect of your life will be under their control. It's called the "Sustainable Economy all in an attempt to control Climate Change". Go to University, the professors there will be all too happy to tell you about it. In fact you do not even need to attend University anymore if you happen to be a young child. Tomorrow's adults are being educated today on how important the "Sustainable Economy is towards controlling Climate Change". The future of the world's climate is dependent on the ability of the state to evaluate the skills of your child at as early age as possible. Once again Chuck, no need to worry about being confused. The state has all the "Climate Change" answers for you and they will be there to manage every aspect of your life in the most economically sustainable climate friendly manner from the cradle to your grave. It will be bliss, and the best part is nobody will be left behind. Everyone will be equal, equally screwed. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
That one definitely goes down in the "that has to hurt" swooping history books. I didn't see it up close and personal, but I have the 6 or so different videos angles from the folks who were up close and personal with it. But the good news is the swooper (TB) recovered and he jokes about his swoop gone bad. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
Someone posted the video in the swooping forum yesterday. It was an interesting attempt. This fellow appeared to start too far back and lost a lot of his speed during his dive before he leveled out across the water. But I can't really blame him, that is definitely an intimating object to attempt to swoop through. Plus while his swoop did not end the way he wanted it to, he is still alive. Clint Macbeth did something similar a few years ago swooping through the Arches in Moab Utah. Different object, different swooper, different challenges. But still similar and I remember Clint telling me about this swoop that he was scared as #### before he did it. But he did it. BTW ... are you sure it wasn't a 1000 meter exit? The media is definitely not someone to rely on for accuracy. From the video I saw, it looks like a normal hop n' pop altitude. Definitely higher than a 1000 foot exit. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8467851.stm Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Actually we could begin by killing off all of the Lawyers (nothing personal). But we would still have billions and billions of people in China, India, Africa and elsewhere still to deal with. Funny, growing up the population of the world was around 4+ billion people and now it is 6+ billion and growing rapidly. The problem this planet faces is not CO2 ... no the problem is the cancer called humanity. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
