  1. I never really wished to be on a team. Then I needed an excuse to go to the Dutch nationals again next year, and a friend and I started a 4 way team. We found two more people and we even found a free coach. I had maybe 600 jumps at the time. The other three had 80, 80 and 120. We had fun, we learned a lot (even if maybe I learned different things than the others), we did good. We placed last at Nationals, but we had a hell of a party. Johan. I am. I think.
  2. These days, it might also include tracking and angled flight or Atmonauti; freefly competitions also include belly positions. Then there's hybrids, with a bellyflier with a hanger or a rodeo, which might include head-up or head-down positions elsewhere in formation, and wingsuit rodeos in a tracking formation. Overall, I'd class those as 'freefly jumps'. To me, most everything that isn't something else is freefly. There's even canopy freefly It's not a very descriptive term these days .. Johan. I am. I think.
  3. If there's a camera on the jump, there's no discussion possible - the camera gets to dump in place. Everyone else tracks off. If there's no camera, you could plan for one person to pull in place - but having everyone track creates more separation overall. If you didn't plan it this way - dive the plan. If more than one person decides to pull in place - you fill in the blanks. There might be two blanks to fill in If he's having issues landing off, address those. Plan to land together, whether on the DZ or out. While being pissed might not produce the desired result, I wouldn't say you're way off base here. But do try to get him to see the error of his ways - and if it takes having someone else talk to him, have someone else talk to him (with him). It is a safety issue, so it should be taken seriously, by him and you. Just yelling at each other isn't going to do much good. Johan. I am. I think.
  4. No pain? Did they use the stock slider? What would be the advantage of using a PDR over, say, a Triathlon? Both are rectangular, relatively cheap, can be had in sizes from 99 to 260 or so, but the Tri is ZP and already has a bridle attachment point. I honestly don't get it. I imagine if you're on the PD Factory Team, PDRs are lying around, but for normal people? Do they like white (or baby blue) better than neon rainbow? Johan. I am. I think.
  5. Or get a Triathlon. Can comfortably be opened from full flight. Will fly straight in 5 twists at 1.8 w/l. Fully rectangular :] Johan. I am. I think.
  6. And it shows you were willing to show it. Five jumps on the same model and size should be a non-issue .. right? Right? (Well, maybe, if upsizing for the demo .. ) Johan. I am. I think.
  7. It sounds too complicated. You're welcome. And please consider equipping the 4-wheelers with airbags, seatbelts, helmets &c. It just wouldn't be safe without. I have difficulty imagining the things the, by then very bored, skydivers might do with the quads anyway Johan. I am. I think.
  8. I'll let you know when I have made my 10 predeclared jumps landing in a 10m circle
  9. If you won't take his advice, don't ask for it. Be safe. Be smart. Johan. I am. I think.
  10. On last count, uhm, zero But rules interest me. If only because they might be imported Greetings from Holland (the one in Europe ), where we do not have rules for demoes, but do have rules for wingloading, size, currency and experience. But you knew that, didn't you? Johan. I am. I think.
  11. ***No RULE can stop you from doing ANYTHING! If you don't have the common sense to follow them or figure out why they are there in the 1st place. I'd qualify with that canopy, and then be within the rules to jump any canopy the same size or larger into demoes. And rules haven't stopped me from doing anything for quite a while. Which does not at all imply I'll actually go and do just anything. So please don't you imply any such thing. I was pointing out the letter of the law. Johan. I am. I think.
  12. Some? A lot? How about. like, almost one and a half thousand ? Put those behind one another, and there's your video Johan. I am. I think.
  13. Try mms://media2.hosting.nob.nl/ftv/20060913_227300_FTV_0000fun_350.asf If that doesn't work, hammer my ADSL at https://www.wiltink.net/users/johan/20060913_227300_FTV_0000fun_350.asf Not making them clicky, because the mms-link won't work (Sangiro!), and this way people won't have incentive to try my home webserver before the original source. Johan. I am. I think.
  14. Who's been jumping that then? Can't be you - you don't even load a 135 at 1.2 Maybe I should volunteer to test the openings at 1.4-1.5 Johan. I am. I think.
  15. At 41 jumps, just get an analog. Then, as you progress, you may find you want more or different functions. Buy another, different one. Before you know it, you have 5 of them, all different, and you can pick the right one for the job *and* loan one to somebody
  16. Give me 10 knots of wind, and I can land my Triathlon 120 within that circle. I might be able to do it on a Tri 99 in a couple dozen jumps. No rules would stop me from then jumping a Velo 99 (or bigger) into demoes, or am I reading this wrong? And isn't it meant to be sort of tough? Johan. I am. I think.
  17. Yes, that sounds about right Can I have my hand back now? How do you measure that, on the top or on the bottom of the arm? Johan. I am. I think.
  18. 3500' 2500' 1500' these are set 500' low intentionally (!), I like to maintain AA myself. recently was surprised by the first beep for the first time in years (literally). mostly never set breakoff higher, even if it is. flatline used to be 2000' but I heard it a couple of times during opening and set it lower. Prodytter goes in 500' increments, otherwise flatline might have been 1700' or 1800'. Johan. I am. I think.
  19. Yeah yeah, nice article. And one of these days you're gonna get my name right. The published version mentions Tristan (but doesn't update the '7'), did we export him or was he never Dutch in the first place? People wanting to practice their Dutch look here (3MB, but nice pictures). Johan. I am. I think.
  20. I have my palms up in a track (too many birdman jumps
  21. I wasn't sure about the three lines on the rear riser anyway. Thanks. Johan. I am. I think.
  22. In this thread is this picture of a left reserve riser. The rig is supposed to be Rig, wings-two handle cutaway, BOC,RSL main- skymaster 290 res. Tempo 250 st.cypres The picture shows five lines from the front riser and three? + a steering line from the rear riser. Is this normal? Johan. I am. I think.
  23. One word: TRAFFIC. On my DZ, below those clouds be gliders. Johan. I am. I think.
