  1. Good for them....sounds like they found a little section of heaven, in the midst of the "Cesspool of the Midwest" that is Columbus...
  2. It's MAIZE and BLUE....and they powered and dominated their way to the national championship after the 1997 season....their 4th national championship, if I recall correctly. The Buckeye lucked their way to their 2nd championship after the 2002 season....Coach Tressel directly attributed their success that year to the extremely large amount of money OSU had in their "Slush Fund for Bribing College Football Officials" at the start of the season. 3. Years ago, I had saved enough money to retire for about 18 months, and midway through my retirement took a job selling cars for about 6 months, just because a) a good friend basically lined the job up for me, b) I had always wanted to try it, and c) if I wasn't good at it, I wasn't going to starve.
  4. Same cat, next day. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  5. That's pretty damn cool. Tonight was my 6th date with a 26-year-old (I turned 46 last week). But she's divorced with 2 small children, and has more maturity than a lot of the childless 30- and 40-somethings I've dated. I guess having kids makes you grow up in a hurry. And I still haven't told her I jump....but I guess I need to, pretty soon. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  6. Jeeez....I hope your book will be easier to read than that was.
  7. You know, I never had any desire to be a TM.....then I see pics like that. Putting a smile that big on someone's face has got to be cool. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  8. When dealing with strangers, my motto is "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." When dealing with family, friends, co-workers, or others I have regular contact with, my mantra is "do onto others AS they do unto you." 9. So, the optimal scenario would be to tie the bungee cord around your neck, right ? I did two bungee jumps before I started jumping. Having done both, IMO the bungee jumps were scarier. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  10. Damn.....Dangerous Dan was a cool guy (that's just what I called him -- in reality, he was a very safety-concious pilot). He could always crack me up, and even let me steer the Otter a few times at Raeford. It was alway "his pleasure" delivering jumpers to exit altitude. I missed him a lot when he left Raeford. It's sad to hear this.....my best to his extended family. I know all the Raefordites (and myself) thought highly of him. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. 11. But I know I suck.....Madame Remioulle might not be as self-intuitive. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  12. But that was never in doubt, was it ? Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  13. It needs to point to your right.....pointing it to your left creates another potential snag-point for a right-handed throw-out. Or so I was told. Don "When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all."
  14. Don't worry about the Irish. They would always make the Top 32, because so many sportswriters graduated from there. Although I've always considered the Irish cowards for not joining the Big 10, I guess they were right in the long run. Penn State took the next invitation, and they've fallen steadily downhill. Hard to make a run at the national championship year after year when your own conference is beating you up every week.
  15. It's time to end this BCS farce. Take the Top 32 teams after the season, seed them, and have a tournament as in basketball. Ideally, I'd rather see the Top 16, but adding one extra week eliminates a possible Fresno State or Boise State being ranked in the Top 25 but being left out, and whining about it ad nauseum. 32 teams could finish a playoff in 5 weeks....games could be scheduled for both Saturday AND Sunday, so the networks could get their bucks too...I'm sure the non-NFL networks (NBC, ABC, FSN and ESPN) would wage a bidding war for the broadcast rights, so the NCAA wins again. Higher-ranked team plays at home, until the Elite 8....Elite 8 games and on through the finals are played at neutral sites that would normally have bowl games (i.e. Arizona, Pasadena, Florida, etc...). The Bull Crap System doesn't work....a playoff system isn't totally fair either, but it's better. Would you want your NCAA basketball championship game played between two teams that were voted in, or between two teams that fought their way into it ? 16. What an awesome two days. First off, big thanks to Tom Aiello for loaning me a rig to jump, as I had trouble finding one big enough for me. Not only that, but over the last few months he's given me lots of helpful tips on techniques and gear via PMs. Tom, your generosity to a complete stranger will not be forgotten. Secondly, my huge gratitude to Todd Shoebotham of Apex. Not only for his insightful thoughts during the first jump course, but afterwards when I saw him in the lobby during the packing seminars. Not only did he completely pack my rig, he also took A LOT of time answering my questions completely, and would even ask if I understood everything before he moved on to the next technique. And not just my questions....there were about 6-10 people crowded around watching, and he aswered all their questions thouroughly (and humourously, as the situation warranted ). Todd, thanks for giving of your time when that had to be a commodity in short supply for you this weeekend.....and the packjob opened up quickly, softly, and EXACTLY on-heading.
  17. I wouldn't mind one of those DVDs, if you can burn an extra....I saw a lot of great interviews and exits. One of the media guys asked if I would do an interview, but I told him I wasn't purty enuf for TV.
  18. I'm not naming names, but my favorite weather hold story involved 40+ mph winds, a large chute, a runway, and a handy Big Wheel......the front wheel separated at about 35 mph, and the rider broke his arm and collarbone during the ensuing crash. 20. It might be the only thing they make that would actually fall out of a tree.
  21. And if you're driving down from the North.....don't forget that the town of Summersville is having "Open Dragster Night" on Hwy 19 all this week....auditions will be held throughout the city limits. Be sure to swing by and audition.
  22. Nah, I don't want Ivan's job. I just meant it was funnier the first time you posted it in this thread.
