Thank you all! It is comforting to know that my DZ isn't pulling a fast one on me. I just hope now that the weather will help me out, so I can get in at least a few jumps in this year before the DZ closes for the winter.

I have been out of skydiving for two years now. I had been working so I couldn't get out to jump. Since, I now have a "real" job, I am thinking about getting back into jumping. However, I have never completed my A class (26 jumps.) The DZ(a) I have been dealing with, says I need to start all over, since it has been two years. Another DZ(b) told me I need to start from the begining also, since this DZ(b) want let anyone that has less then 100 jumps for DZ(a) jump there. So now what do I do?

Awesome pics! I would have to agree with you, Ogden Point is a steller place to go diving. I'm heading back there again with some divers in November from Calgary. Can't wait!! Vancouver Island was indeed rated as the best diving by Sport Diver. We have the page framed in the scuba shop I work at. Some years I hate being a DM/Tec DM, no time for skydiving

Then again, I do not know of many countries that one would be allowed to be critical about its national leadership. Only in the USA. i agree with the point you made. But lets be careful about the words one chooses to say. All democratic countries have right to question the leadership skills. Its all part of the checks and balance of power. Since this is a worldwide forum I would add that countries such as Britian, German and Canada have these freedoms not just the States.

Don't keep your mouth shut. We each have to right to voice our concerns. If there is facts by all means share the facts. But if it is a conversation without facts no sides wins. and thats what I'm trying to voice. I'm just trying to bring awareness to the two sides of the coin.

Amen to that!!! I haven't been out skydiving since October. Winter in Canada sucks!...but on the otherside of things scuba diving under ice is what gets me through until skydiving starts up in May

I guess that people just don't like to hear bad things said about their countries. I don't know about that. I usually joke about my country with friends. But I try not to speak ill of other countries.

Too begin things off I'd say I'm not a "regular" here at dz.com. I usually just read the forums since they used to be a gathering place of great minds and ideas. Lately though I've noticed that these forums are now becoming tools to drive hate and anger towards others countries and beliefs. What is written in some forums discuss me. Such topic headings as "Anti-Americnism" inwhich many people here thought was uncanning. But in other forums such as "News on CNN" some wrote jokes about the French. What is wrong with this picture? If someone from France wrote something like that about Americians all hell would break lose. Then there is the forum "Dear Sunshine" inwhich a joke was written about deporting Canadians. Yes I know that these were written as a joke but lets remember that if you don't like other nations seeking harshly about Americians THEN DON'T SPEAK ILL OF OTHERS! It's just common sence people. What has happened to this place. Skydiving from what I know, is not only about flying and being free; its also about the social aspect of the sport. A "family-hood" as many of you have put it. The last thing I want to do after a tough day at work, is coming here to see many people knocking on each other. I used to find DZ.com as a place where I came to relax. But lately I've realized that doesn't exist here anymore. Yes the world is going to shit, but does DZ.com need to go with it? I don't think so, we're a group that has choosen to be different then the world. So lets start acting different and become friendly. Goodnight!

whatever happened should not discourage us from doing what we love. it hurts, but once in a while it happens. Thank you for yuor words of encouragement. The media will (and is) going to use this to rip the sport that we all love. BLue Skies

It's been 22 years, and I still see it sometimes in my sleep. ECV I know what you mean. I once lived in this small farming community that had a volunteer FD. So I joined this volunteer FD at the age of 20y/o. One winter morning I got a call to go to a farm down the road. I was told to "take my time. There is no fire here but your scuba gear will be needed." Which I thought was weird. (I was the only one at the time that dove.) I showed up 25 minutes later with my stuff and was directed to this farmers dugout. Though the dugout wasn't iced over. Turns out that this farmers son aged 10 drove a snowmoble over the dugout and the ice broke. I was called in to retrive the young body. Its been 4 years this winter and I can still see the look that this young boy was giving. I wake in the middle of the night sometimes sweaty and short of breath; wishing that this image would never come again

It is often easier to say such things then to actually figure out what this striss might be...or for that matter solve the problems. The biggest striss for me right now is not working. I've been w/o work for 4 weeks now. And then to top things up its the Christmas season. Never really liked this time of year. So I guess the striss in my life is not being able to work. Sure I can get a pt job working in some store for Christmas...but then I'm back looking for work after the New Year. I really don't want to go through this again

I have done a fair bit of exercise before going to bed. I've even tried doing the exercises on morning TV to see if I can sleep in the morning...nothing has worked. I even went for a 4 hour scuba dive yesterday (Friday). Yet, I'm still not tired...
