**WARNING NEWBIE HERE** In a case like this, would it be best to have the main shipped back to the manufactor for an 'offical' test and report? Oh is this something that manufactors don't (I understand that they will charge you, being IF they perform such a thing)?

Hey Andrew, you nailed on the head. The problem here in Calgary is that labourer jobs are easy to come by. Whereas more management jobs are a little harder to get. Just because it takes nothing to train labourers to do a job. Thank god, I had a desent bank account before being let go from my last employer!!! :)

This is New Age Boss speak for.. "you are asking for too much money"... they would rather hire someone with less experience and whom they can pay a lot less for. The topic of wage came up once. And that was when the guy's assistant called to arrange the interview. I took the average of 10 of the larger companies, in the same industry here in town (all wages were based from job postings). And then rounded down to the next whole number. My logic is simply that with an average starting point in the local industry, I am not setting myself up for instant dismissal for asking to much. And secondly, that I am not acting like I am not confident in my abilities by asking for too little. Once again I have no idea what or how to go about this topic during interviews.

I know you're having a frustrating time trying to find a job, and believe me, I sympathize. Please take what I tell you as advice for improving your odds in an interview, not as a criticism of you personally. Your reply, although well meaning, could be construed as you assuring him that you will get bored, because that's what he's expecting you to do. Does that make sense? I'm not sure I'd know how to take what you said if I was interviewing someone, but I can give you a more appropriate response: INTERVIEWER: "Well, you're a bit overqualified for this job, and I'm concerned you may get bored after a while." APPLICANT: "I understand, but I believe any job can have meaning, and I apply myself to every job as if it's the most important one. Being a part of a successful team is what I'm after." This is just what I'd say, but it makes the company seem more important than your personal aims (in the eyes of the interviewer). Just my .02, but I have interviewed LOTS of people. Thank you for the advise. I will be honest and say that I even knew that my remark was not the wisest when I heard the words coming out of my mouth. I appreciate your advise. As I need all the advise I need right now. As I have been fortunate not to have had many job interviews in my life. Thank you!

** WARNING- THIS IS A RANT TO VENT SOME ANGER ADN FRUSTRATION!** So on June 20 I was fired from my job, due to unresolvable issues, between me and my employer. Not too bad, as I didn't like the direction the company was going, and how the new (foreign) employees were being treated. So I have been job searching since then. Yet, this process is frustrating as all the interviews I have gone to really haven't worked out yet. This morning I had an interview for a great hopeful. Well known, family oriented and large company in the city. Well things seem to be going well during the interview. Share my work history, education with the guy conducting the interview. At the end of the interview he tells me, that I have what there are lookig for, be that he "worries [I] may get bored, as [I'm] over qualified for the job position." I smile and reply by saying "Well I will try not to let you down then!!" He replies with "Thank you for coming. Good luck with your job search." And thats the end of the interview. I mean WTF. What does it mean I am over qualified. I am only 30 for fuck sakes. I am to young to be fukin over qualified. And besides what does this even mean. Was this guy implying that the job position is not challenging enough and that is why the position is available. Or is he worried that I am going to try my luck at getting his job if I where to be hired. FUCK!! **THANK YOU FOR ALOWING ME TO RANT** Edited for spelling and to please pass the vibes!

Wow... this is wrong. I am shocked that no one checked her apartment. That no one cared to check out the smell coming from her apartment. Or that no landlord or bank wondered were their mortage/rent was. Truly sad.

For the summer hiking I do I have a MEC Ranger Hat that I love (http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_listing.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302698795&bmUID=1214271219162) For Hot weather pants I have a few pairs of these and love them. As they re breathable and they don't weigh that much either. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442620844&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302698621&bmUID=1214271357353 From what I can find out, MEC does ship to the US. Hope this helps.

I am sorry to all those that witnessed this accident. During my 4th Skydive a number of years ago I witnessed a jumper go in. I left the DZ that day realizing how dangerous this sport can be. It took me 6 years to understand the dangerous and the risk management, and I am back. Though I am sorry to all that witnessed.

I was looking at one this evening here in Canada. It was introduced about 2 weeks ago. The unit is impressive. the item that I looked at has threads for lens on the exterior, opposed to interior like most other sony products. The housing is light weight and yet it appears to be tough. It is not a plastic housing and yet I can't remember what it was made out of... but tough. This cam is really inexpensive ($980.00CND) compared to the CX7 when it was first introduced. Though the good news is I have been able to find the CX7 for about $600CND, when that Sony has discontinued them here is Canada.

Christ man... this brings back horrible memories. A few years ago I feel a sleep on my buddies futon after a night of drinking. I awoke the next morning tied to the the fucking frame and my fucking shirt pulled over my head. My buddy and his GF thought it would be funny to wax my chest. Let me say that the it hurt like hell and it WASN'T funny.

Pack it with styrofoam and a note. The note should say something like 10% off FUTURE purchases from you! That should get him thinking!
-
Whole Shit... this kind of sounded like the conversation my boss had with me. Right up to the point where he fired my ass. Though still put a smile on my face!
-
Yup they aren't totally useless!! Though I will be shit faced tonight. I showed up to work and the first thing my boss does is hands me an envelope. He gestures for me to open it. I'm thinking its a birthdays card or something. Well I open it and totally surprises me. As in the envelope is a notice claiming that I am being fired and that if I want to recieve my pay cheque for the last month to take that up the legal deparment. So all I can say is Happy FUCKING B-Day to me I am unemployed!

Single point restraint / Seat belts
novacaine replied to Squeak's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
QuoteWhen I spoke to Jack Hooker last month, he reassured me that he had sold plenty of belts in Canada, but Transport Canada (Federal gov't equivalent of the FAA) still gives some DZOs a hard time about installing anything except for stock Cessna seatbelts.Quote Rob, outside of Skydiving where else would this type of restraint be usefull? Since most GA planes have proper seats. -
Lol Fuck that's right, your no longer drinking!!

Yeah I'm on "Stockbook"... err... "Facbook". Actually I kind of dislike it. As my GF broke up with me the other night as she didn't like the fact that my ex wife is on my friends list. Hence the reason for "Stockbook"!! http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=848660553 Edited for spelling!

My first few skydives were back in 2002. I lost a bet with some buddies and had to go skydiving with them. I was scared shitless. During that summer we did 5 jumps. Each time I jumped, I really didn't want to be doing a stupid skydive. I really didn't understand the point of jumping from an aircraft, let alone fly in one. It wasn't until last year that I thought of giving skydiving on my own terms, a shot. And guess what? I loved it. I found that since I wanted to do skydiving, that I wasn't nervous (ok I still was, but it was way more managable for me.). I didn't have the scared shitless feelings, or the panic of flying my canopy. Why did this suddenly change? I think it was do to the fact that this was a sport that I really wanted an effort to try. And on my terms. So the question that you need to ask yourself is, why are you doing this? Once you have answered with an honest answer, you maybe able to notice yourself being less nervous, like I found. Good Luck and blue skies!
