I have Nextel and use it thoughout a 5 state territory that I cover. I also have a T-mobile phone and have had Verizon in the past. I really like my Nextel Phones. Verizon has hands down the best coverage, but you will pay more for it. Sprint is hands down the worst in the midwest(I am based out of chicagoland area) I have unlimited plans on my phones. If you go with nextel the i90 or i95 are both very good phones. Stay away from the i530 even though it is a newer model. Worst phone I have ever used. i730 is a great phone. You will not have as good as coverage as Verizon, but you will gain great features. Where you travel to(DZ location- ect.) may determine whether the Nextel will work for you. I use the Web based features on my Nextel on a daily basis. TWC, Mapquest, Up to the minute sports scores(play by play) E-mail ... much much more. I also have a T-mobile Pocket PC phone which I can navigate any website with IE. I use this phone for getting my E-mail(pocket outlook) and the occasional web site. Besides the E-mail and reports(it has Excel and Word and is great for storing PDF which I can send[email or fax] from the truck) I use the Nextel more frequently. It is so simple and quick to use compared to other providers web services I have used. I am looking to getting a Verizon again, but I would really hate to give up my Nextel. I need to see what has changed in verizon as far as web navigation. Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

I am not sure what the fuck you are trying to say Really? An investment banker who is an advid target shooter loses his gun rights because he is convicted of insider trading. He gets caught on a range and is back in prison with the burdon being put on the taxpayers. Stopped from what? Working? Paying Taxes? Supporting their family? Yes I guess your right. Gun laws do stop criminals. And I suppose you think most criminals are violent? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

85 sq ft thru 107 sq. ft. Jump with what you are comfortable/competent. Some will say jump with what you normally jump, but too many people are not(or should not) comfortable with their current canopy. Night Jump at SDC. They had about 20 cars lined up in the main landing area. I went over and threw a big 270 hook and swooped the pond. The next day a good friend of mine, who had never talked about it before, decided he wanted to swoop the pond also(daytime of course) and came looking for advice on how to practice for it. A few weeks later he was Dead. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Six Hunters Murdered on Private Land in Wisconsin
craddock replied to Viking's topic in Speakers Corner
It's not all that uncommon to find deserted tree stands up here in Wisconsin. I have never heard what type of stand this was.(ladder type, Hanging, or a simple 2x4 or 2x6 framed permanent stand.) Although not legal to build these type of stands on public land, I would venture a quess that there are far more 2x4 type stands put up on both public and private land than commercial stands. I have lived in WI most of my life and have came across many unused abandoned tree stands. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! Thats may be the most absurd statement I have heard. I know many, many people who have specialty target rifles, trap model shotguns, target pistols, ect., some of which are quite expensive. People do not pay 15 grand for a trap style gun to go in the woods and hunt with it. Nor do they own it for self protection. I have friends that compete in handgun matches but keep their pistol in a safe in the basement when there not at the range shooting. Self protection never crossed their mind getting into shooting. I also know people who compete in trap, skeet, or sporting clays with guns designed specifically for that purpose who have never hunted in there life. Most households I know have at least one gun. The amount of people I know with skydiving rigs is a small fraction of my total family/friends. I have never lost anyone close or seen someone die from a gunshot wound. I have seen too many friends/people die skydiving. I have also seen first hand deaths in motorcycle racing and in snowmobiles. Still a small prcentage of people I know own these compared to those who own guns. Which do you think is safer? Owning a gun, or owning a rig? I vote we Ban Skydiving Rigs. Then snowmobiles, motorcycles and soon we had better get rid of automobiles. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Yes and if I was forced to chop every partial mal above that "hard deck", I would have a good number of cutaways added to the four than I did chop. I wonder if you would not have a few more also. The Cobalt 95 that I jumped flew very large. I would have thought I was under a 107ish canopy if I had not known better. Best opening canopy I have ever jumped. The Cobalt 75 I flew again seemed to fly larger. The smaller the canopy the less this effect will have. I have talked to other very capable pilots that have felt the same way. An ex Atair factory pilot jumped a 65 and 75 and now jumps a 79 on a competitors canopy. Regardless of your or my feelings toward Atair USA there is something to this. Having jumped several of their canopies I can attest to this. I have no attention of ever purchasing an Atair skydiving canopy for many reasons although I may purchase a Troll MDV. I would never second guess the Quality control of this canopy and would also purchase a 245 compared to my 260 Mojo. I do understand your dislike for Atair USA , but there is more to the company than Dan Preston and they do make some good products. Not everyone takes a high interest in trying to out swoop the next person. My fiance has no interest in swooping at all. Does this mean she should still be jumping a Manta since the has never been able to outswoop or equal me under one? Seems like kind of a pathatic rule for downsizing(since many people don't swoop), not that I have any opinion on this individual though Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! How much do you load your reserve?
craddock replied to deurich2003's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Well I disagree thats all. I am loading slightly above 1.75 and while I have landed it downwind a couple of times by choice, I just do not see the point for everyone to land downwind under reserve to just see if they can. They can find out when the time comes if they ever need to. Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side. -

Main Canopy was hard as a rock out of the d-bag.....
craddock replied to LawnDart21's topic in Gear and Rigging
Well I thought he was talking about storing a rig, not leaving it in a trunk while at work. This condition does not happen overnight. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side. -

I had this problem in one of my rigs last month. Sure glad I decided to repack it. No, it has never been stored next to a heat source. Do you know people who actually store their rigs in these conditions? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side. -
Hope, this helps Not that much. I am looking for the Grade of stainless used. For those who have answers on its strength I thought they would know. "Stainless" is a very vague term. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

?? Can you then tell me what grade of stainless is used on hardware?? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Could you please tell me what grade of Stainless steel is used. Carbon steel is stronger than many of the more popular Stainless steel alloys Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Due to the lower riser pressure on my PD 106R, I have no problem grabbing up at the links to pull them down. I have got some nice swoops out of it; one into the "backyard" carving past a tree at the end as I ran out of real estate(fence). But... If your reason to add dive loops is "to get a little more forward speed for excellent stand up landings" then you may need to reconsider your choice of reserve(size). Or get some more practice jumps on one. I don't think you should have to induce speed to get a good landing on a PD143R unless you are really loading it up. Although I have never jumped one Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Your right it may have not malfuntioned. I have jumped other rigs after a winter layoff. I have also pulled the "brick" out and put it back in the d bag and jumped it just to see what would happen. In this case however, it took a very unusual amount of Force to seperate the nylon. It made a very clear unzipping? sound in doing so. The small nose inlets(Xaos 27) had to be individualy peeled open along with the rest of the canopy. It is not uncommon at all for a canopy that has been packed a while to remain in its d- bag shape after it is removed. I think that is normal. This was a different situation that took me some time to pull all the panels apart so that it could even take any air in. I really doubt my tired 24" PC would have got it open clean. I think by the time/if it opened it would have substantial line twists. Mabey if I dumped above 4000 to give me time to clear everything by 1000 I would have been alright. In regards to the Navigator you jumped: That was f111 correct? My case seemed to me to clearly have been caused by the heavy ZP coating that PA uses in combination with a very tight rig. I can not imagine an F111 canopy having this issue or even an older ZP canopy for that matter. Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! I have never heard of an experienced jumper grounded for dumping at 2k. Hell- we do Hop and pops from there when it is a low cloud ceiling. I know I have never been grounded for it. I am usually dumping higher than 2000 That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

I just repacked one of my rigs that has not been jumped in a while. It would have surely been a mal. This main is stuffed into a container to small for it which led to part of the problem. I had to physically unfold the canopy. Every piece of nylon had to be peeled from the nylon it was in contact with. I could yank the thing all over by the bridle and it would stay in a nice little "brick" waiting to go back in the d-bag. I have yet to jump it and find out if the permenent looking creases and wrinkles will come out. I will never store this canopy in this rig for extended periods again. 2,500-jumps+, x-brace, & 16-yrs old
craddock replied to rmsmith's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
???? since when had it been a requirement to hold an A,B, or C licence to be qualify for a D? Most people I know skipped over the costs until they actually need a licence for some purpose and then applied for the highest they were eligible for. edit- Never thought abought the jumps not counting later becuase they were done being underage- Just looking at the cost issue. If someone does 2500 jumps not needing a licence, whats the big deal to crank out a few hundered more that are eligible. I still don't understand your question on the cost issue. Why should it be any different cost once eligible regardless of age they started jumping at? I am missing something here. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! There is a difference between a cypres fire and a cypress Save. I would have a couple cypres fires if I used one. Josh That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

Yesterday I opened up a skydiving rig to change the risers. I have not jumped it in some time. This would have certainaly been a malfuntion had I jumped it. I am not sure this relates much to BASE though as this canopy is ZP stuffed into a container way to small for it. Shaking the canopy violently from the bridle it remained in a small "brick". I had to peel every panel/fold apart from the adjacent material. Seperate material to open up the nose, peel open the slider ect. I realize that my Mojo is f111 and packed fairly loose into the container, but I have a new veiwpoint about jumping old packjobs.
