Maybe if Mr. Hijazi had considered this he wouldn't have been associating with know terrorist, and would be alive today. US citizen or not, you hang with terrorist, you can expect to be treated as one. And don't think for on milisecond that he didn't know who he was associating with. You should be. What I was told when I started was "If your not scared, your stupid". As a jumpmaster I dread going out the door with someone who's cool, calm & collected on the ride up. 99% of the time they exit and freak. I guess Apprehension qualifies. Welcome to our world.

I question the "oh shit" setting. Isn't it possible to have a mal and still get slowed down enough so the audible won't trigger? Once you pull you should know how long it takes for a good canopy. If you have a mal, you should try to correct it to your decision altitude. If you don't know what your altitude is and you can't see your altimeter, your at decision altitude, chop it. Don't wait for an audible to tell you your to low as it's performance may be affected by change in fall rate due to malfunctioning canopy. (in other words, it might not go off). Probably nothing since it's attached to the main riser, and designed to pull the reserve pin as the riser departs when the cutaway handle is pulled. "Probably nothing" refers to the rsl & reserve deployment, blowing up main at high speed is probably going to hurt a LOT! So don't do it. Glad your here to tell us about this. and KUDOS to you for buying your beer.

Got my SCR in 94. Paperwork all filled out. Never sent it in. ("that's enough $$ for a skydive"). However, I do have my trophy on my mantle.

Looks like your already considering the right things. mmmm... You've been doing King Air exits? Otter exits much eaiser. Just be sure to practice before you go. If your going to SDC it'll probably be newer gear. Try to get a canopy along the same size as your used to. If it's a differnet type canopy, ask about the differences, (toggle response, flaring). Be sure to look at an aerial view of the DZ and try to have a landing plan before you board the plane, Including where the "outs" are. (keeping in mind that wind has a tendency to shift and spots have a way of going bad.). Have someone regular to the DZ go over this with you. Since you already know 1 of the JM's that's cool. but by all means... if there's a DZ.COMer where your going, Look them up! Have Fun. Be Safe. BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' I was talking to Brad at the DZ one day after he had moved back to Houston, and I hadn't yet seen the video. Later that evening some dude come's up and ask me who he was, I told him and the dude asked "Was he the drunk in the Quincy video?". I hadn't seen nor heard of it but my reply "Probably". It never fails. Whenever this subject comes up someone is always going "ash dive". And I'm one of em. However, (I gotta tell ya), I have a friend, let's just call him Fucker, with a whole new spin: Fucker: "I want to be creamated, and then have my ashes brought to the DZ, and mix em in some viniger. Then have all the chicks on the DZ stand in line and douche me. Ready-Set-Douche!".
