I'm the fire warden on my floor. I went to a class held by the fire marshall who explained what it was we're supposed to do. My job is to make sure people know how to get out which I'll accomplish by yelling "FOLLOW ME!" as I get the hell out of the building. But I didn't get a bright orange vest. It's supposed to be mid 70's here in Houston today. But I guess up where you are, 40 feels like 70. Have a GREAT day. Larry 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

More, what would you do if's?
Luminous replied to Hooknswoop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1) Not going to happen. 2) Land to the south (1st canopy down rule) 3) Wave off video dude and pull pilot chute. 4) This varies with breakoff altitude. given 3500ft breakoff I would probably track less and "begin my deployment sequence by 2000ft". Most video dudes I jump with would have pulled at breakoff altitude regardless if the team is still turning points. 5)point, yell, wave, try to get their attention or someone's close to them attention. 6)Same as #5 7) Rear risers. 8) Attempt to discreetly notify him of the fact. If unable to do it discreetly then scream it at him/her. 9)Yell "Pilot chute out!" and keep the friggin door closed. 10)Probably a flat as possible turn to the (definitly) right and then flaring to land. Verify other person is OK and if so, chewing their ass out for landing in the wrong direction, after I make sure his mother's not hanging around somewhere. What do I win? -
Handle Touches/"practice" pulls?

Ok, I polled "Every Jump" but I'm sure on occasion I miss it because I'm talking or somthing and all of a sudden the doors coming open. You didn't have a 99.99% of the time. -
I think you started off great! Last weekend was "Make 5 jumps, get the 6th free in the same day". Can't beat that with a stick. And I'm not sure but it's possible that it wasn't just a last weekend thing. Dave? BSBD Larry "In an insane society a sane person seems insane" - Mr. Spock

My heartfelt condolences to Leigh & the rest of the family. And also to their friends in Dallas & Florida. Very good people... Larry

I'm hesitant to advise you on your flair past what's already been posted about where to look. So I'll advise: Feet & Knees together, Prepare to PLF. Standing up a landing is cool. Walking away is so much better. Heal quickly.

I'm not much on New Year's Resoulutions but I now have one I think I can handle. I resolve to make it to Aggieland at least once this year. (bout damned time) BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

I jump at both. please expand on this? ADDED: Nevermind. I just get ticked when I see comments like this. Both are great. I frequent SDH w/ occasional trips to Spaceland. flyboy, how many trips to SDH? "Know what your talking about".

I rekin he's not ready for that until he starts 'fixin' to do things and cussin in two syllables. (IE: 'Da-Ummm', 'Sheeeee-it'). Welcome to Texas & see Y'all at the DZ. BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

An EXCELLENT point that I neglected. Smiles make the skydive go so much better.

I actually didn't think about that until the JM opened the door and I was looking at the ground.

Feed the fantasy.

nope..... in my case, that's exactly where they belong. 1500+ psycho packs on batwing 153 w/ no adverse wear & tear. No bridle extension. A psycho pack is simply another method of packing. Just as likely to work/mal as any other method. my 2cents. BSBD & Happy Holidays.

I find it ironic that someone with such a low opinion of this site has achived 'Veteran' posting status. If you don't like it, don't play. BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

Saturday, 8am. Skydive Houston. Show up and bring some friends for a 4way scrambles. You don't need to bring a team as teams will be randomly picked from the pool of participants. This means that 3 LUCKY people will be given the challenge of holding me stable for a few jumps. This can be loads of fun, and you don't need to be a hardcore RW person to participate. As a matter of fact, you don't need to be a regular RW person to participate. (Nick?, Levin?). http://www.skydivehouston.com BSBD 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.' Mr. Spock

4 way scrambles at SDH this weekend. Come Play.

2400 jumps and counting. I still get it. I think it's healthy and helps to keep me alive. When I started I was told "If your not scared, your stupid.". That still applies.

They're currently in the Armed Forces. Your not. Sorry, it's that simple.
