How Long Did It Take For Your "A"?

Main/reserve sizing with regards to two canopies out.
a97virago replied to trigger's topic in Safety and Training
I have had a side by side, and it was while I was still on student status. I was taught to gently steer the 'dominate' canopy. But not really know the student gear all that well, I got confused. And ended up turning a side by side into a downplane when unstowing the toggles. I like the idea of using the outer most rear risers to steer. It seems to bge easier to remember when clear-headed decisions are a must. And by the way, it only took me a split second to remember that a downplane was bad and chopped it. They found the main, but we lost the freebad, that is until this past weekend (over a year later) Larry A-43434 -
So much beer, so little time...
a97virago replied to a97virago's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sounds more like "Where's Waldo" Actually, if you know the answer to that question, you know where the beer is. But if you don't, It's at fingerlakes skydivers in Ovid, NY. Come share a beer with me to celebrate Larry A-43434 -
I can't say anything about FFing a dolphin, but I just got mine (newly new) and I love it!!! Larry A-43434

Well, I figured I'd get this out here! Made my first jump on my first rig today, and had my first REAL stand-up landing on it! It's a nearly new Triathlon 220 and at a pinch over 1:1, it flew like a DREAM!!! The 2 jump I made this afternoon were more exciting and satisfying than the 30 I made previously! When I came down, I was excited as I was after my first tandem! Just felt like sharing that with every! The beer is in the fridge, help yourself! Larry A-43434 -
I'm with fund!!! What type of company or job requires you to carry that much insurance? And is it really worth it? Larry A-43434

I couldn't find an owners manual anywhere on the Altico web site. Any hints as to where to look? Larry A-43434

I just got my first rig (BEER!!!). It's a dolphn container, but sadly it didn't come with the owners manual. Does anyone out there have a copy (scanned or PDF) that they could e-mail me? And more to the point, what's the flap closing order. I opened it up to inspect the canopy and forgot to note the closing order and bridle routing. Now I'm not going to be jumping this just yet (have to have my rigger check it out too and repack the reserve), but I'd like to know if I have everything right. Thanks Larry Slosberg A-43434 Larry A-43434

My Opinion (for what's it's worth) Doing a tandem first lets you relax, enjoy the ride/view with out the stress of AFF. If you find that you LOVE IT (and I'm sure you will) then proceed onto AFF. I went through Tandem progression (5 tandems, 5 IAF, etc) and I don't know if I would have been all there if I had started out AFF. But that's just me Larry A-43434 Larry A-43434

Did anyone notice about 40 seconds into the video, the guy with a torquise Jav had his main pin cover open??? Yikes!!! Larry A-43434 -
Who was the experienced skydiver that said that "it takes moments to acquire level flight" from a down plane??? Nevermind, I don't want to know. But having HAD a downplane, there ain't a damn thing you can do, but cutaway!!! Now maybe he had a bi-plane or a side-by-side. But then again, I'm just nit-pinking the media. Hope Mark Dow is alright! Blue skies! Larry A-43434
