  1. thanks for the info. About how long out should I take the spot? Of course it varies on the uppers and winds etc. Also about www.flybirdman.com their link to hooking up a wingsuit is broken. I've read the manual on www.bird-man.com but didn't know if they had pictures etc explaing it a bit more.
  2. A "short bus" is the bus the special ed kids ride to school. Because there aren't too many of them their bus is "shorter"
  3. We have a farmer McNasty north of our dz. He has been known to try to rip gear off students, confronted with a large knife, he has said that he has a large collection of gear stored in his shed...He also makes sure he parks his irrigation system AS CLOSE to the landing area and in the worst spot possible as he can
  4. yeah i did, was just curious which one was the best and or easiest to do for a beginner.
  5. I've been curious about this to, which way is the best way to exit? Facing the rear or the front? Which is easiest? Pros and cons?
  6. Well if you can make it I'll be there for sure. Come pierce the skys of KS with me too if you're coming through this way
  7. Wow! must be pretty good considering there are only 48 sates on that map
  8. Is this true? A couple people visited our dz today and said they were going to make their first bm jumps at the Skyvan boogie in Nebraska in July. Is this true, anyone know?
  9. That's a kick ass avatar you got! I'll have my suit on Wednesday, already planning for the weekend!
  10. Not a BMI but agree with Kris, there is a lot of stuff going on, body awareness, location in teh sky, limited movement etc. There is just a lot to think about. I like the 200/500 rule. I could never imagine myself putting on a suit myself with 200 jumps. I still have so much to learn, I often look back and remember me with 60 jumps going to make my first night jump and someone making a joke saying "hey wanna wear my camera?" I said "SURE!" not knowing the different in anything. It's more knowledge than anything else
  11. I'm not a chick but I say stay with the one you have. I don't know, it's just more you or something
  12. www.idrink.com great site, you tell it what you have in your house and it makes the drinks for ya
  13. Well thanks to SM1, Superwoman and all you guys who answered my questions I'm hooked. Lookie Lookie what I just bought I'll have it next week. So who wants to break the virgin sky over Wamego KS with me?
  14. Lou, thanks for that article. I've been looking for something to present to our exec board, s&ta and pilots about before we start flying at our dz. mucho obrigado
  15. Met him at Moss Point but think we were too drunk to remember lol
  16. Well here's a view from a newbie. I just made my first jump with Check (SM1) at the Mardi Gras Boogie. I have 525 jumps, about 250 in the last year and been in the sport for 3 years. You want to have the experience, there is A LOT to think about when up in the air and the more you jump, fly your canopy, get airtime, the better off you are in the air and better prepared for anything that may happen. The more current and the more jumps you have, the more body aware you are as to your opening position, position in flight and so on. Make it up to Wamego sometime and talk with Tony, Thor or Jill who all have many more jumps than I do. I see you jump at Air Capital, keep in mind there was an incident there almost 3 years ago with someone flying a wing-suit and could have been prevented with more training, currency and some common sense. He had the 15 jumps less than you... If you're bored skydiving come to Wamego or go to Kingman and we'll challange you, maybe you just need to jump with some different people to open your eyes. feel free to drop me a pm and also to crash at my house anytime you feel like coming up here Chris
  17. Hey I know you, you're that dude that's on AMW!!! Quick someone stop him!
  18. I'm on my 5th year at Kansas State University I started in Econ at Kansas Weslyn University then came to KSU in international business, then they dropped Int Business so I took marketing, then I switched to Economics, then back to Marketing and doing a minor in Econ instead and NOW I'll just finish my marketing and econ and do MIS instead in Florida. I'm a professional student
  19. dude the club just bought some more protec's and i swear we have a brand new purple one. i'll double check and all, but hey if you wanted to replace our purple one with any other couple we can just swap, they're just student helmets. It's a full cut, ears and all.
  20. Has a nice philosophy on life. I'm sorry, I'm not
  21. hey man I have had that feeling more than once. I'm the club's president/DZ manager. I pretty much do everything and then some around the club and dz. Am always there to open shop, am always the last to leave and do paperwork. Answer all the emails, get bitched at, am sometimes the only instructor/coach at the dz, only person to show up on time etc. Some days I just wish I was a normal skydiver, someone who just showed up whenever I wanted to and magically manifest was open, the planes were pulled out and I just sign-up for a load... This will never happen because I am dedicated to the sport and won't let anything happen to the club. What keeps me in are the videos and students who stick around. I just taught a class 2 weekends agoe and then had 5 tandem videos as well. Because of the season I hadn't done a tandem video in some time. The first one kinda sucked, the 2nd one kicked ass and made the rest of the day for me. Then one of my students stuck around, made a 2nd jump, learned how to pack, helped pull the planes in and then stuck around and made sure there wasn't anything else he could do. Then the next weekend he showed back up, made 3 more jumps, already knows how to pack, has built a website for himself and his skydiving activities and is constantly active with learning. For that reason I enjoy still being around even when I don't feel like I want to. The students who remind me of me when I was learning and remembering how the instructors were with me. I don't know man, i'd say just get back out there and try to find something about the sport you love. try a new discipline, jump with some new people, have them challange you more maybe just my opinion
  22. -Friday nights -Money -School -Whuffo friends -not having a credit card -Motorcycle -Time with family
  23. Really depended on the person I guess. If it was someone I have been married to and cherish our relationship and something happened, then I'd probably quit skydiving. Though if it were just a casual relationship then I'd tell them to take up golf and get over it. Although all too many whuffo/skydiver couples break up because of A.I.D.S Altitude induced divorce syndrom
