help finding online scheduler for jm's etc...
kansasskydiver replied to kansasskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I'm trying to find some code/software that would allow for our jm's, coaches, tm's, packers etc to log into a site and post what days and times they are going to be at the dz. can anyone help me out? anyone know of such software that would allow people to post etc. feel free to send me a pm as well. the closest thing i've found is the qlogger, but it's too scattered and confusing thanks in advance, chris -

Instructor/coach/TM lost fun in skydiving
kansasskydiver replied to kansasskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Just curious about this subject as I've talked with some people who have mentioned that skydiving just isn't as exciting as it used to be after getting their ratings. Please vote, even if you don't want to reply, I completely understand -
after abpout 30 mins of this, i can do it. now it's not a perfect circle on the ground, nor is the 6 in the air, but my foot doesn't go the same direction as the 6 yeah i hate my job

Using altis to gauge swoop height
kansasskydiver replied to conor's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
no kidding, i'm still a novice to the swoop, but all summer i was used to started my turn based on visual, always visual, alti is a 2ndary device when you may not be sure, but in that case don't swoop if you're unsure. One of the farmers cut the corn... that really screwed with my swoop. i found myself being lower than usual and still in my carve. so be careful when jumping at a new dz where you're not familiar with the landmakrs, and be careful when something changes... that 8 ft of corn could have been a problem if i wasn't alert chris -
last time i heard someone say that, i got my camcorder and shot some pretty interesting video...

No i don't have any children, sorry I brought up a sensitive issue, but i would much rather pay 200 a semeseter and have my books provided. Also, keep in mind we pay over $1000 per semester to "register" in classes plust campus priv fees, technology fees, parking etc

There is a huge discussion on jump numbers and experience. In my opinion, you can make 1000 jumps in a year, but if you've only been around for a year, you haven't really had the true feeling for the sport and the people. Again, this is just my opinion, but I believe time in sport and jump numbers are correlated to experience

When I was in Brasil teaching English, I made copies of all the important text that I needed my students to read. The actual books they learned out of were provided by the school. I think college books should be like in k-12, provided by the school for use.
-
Kallend, I'm glad to hear a professor's opinion on the subject. A lot of times, the profs get money for using the bookes, atleast I know how that get's handled here. So it sucks when the profs are selling off books new for $200 and getting 10% of the sales. It's just a big buracracy, but oh well. have to get that little peice of paper to keep daddy happy and get a good job down the line huh

how long after you buy them do you ahve to return them?
-
Geeeeeez... Ok I'll quit my bitching now

So college has startd up, tuition has increased, and I'm required to buy 5 books about 120 each, pretty damn close to $600 bucks. WTF is the deal with the whole "let's rip off the poor college students" I bought the books I needed for this week, just got on half.com (thank goodness for this site) and got my books for $229. Then when I get my books in, I'm going to return the ones I had to buy to the book store. Geez, never thought college could get any more expensive. There are 2 book stores in town, both owned by the same guy, so he just jacks up the prices. So if you're a college student, go to Half.com I highly recommend it! Blue skies Chris
