  4. Hostels are the way to go in my humble opinion. Their cheap, usually clean, and easy to find online. I just went to France and England in September and found the best rates on Priceline. This is a last ditch effort if your committed one going and you are not bound to a particular schedule. My round trip was $493. You may also need to be creative on your airline bookings. It was cheaper to fly to Frankfurt Germany then to London as a seperate round trip than it was to fly direct to London. If you are traveling then you may also save money by purchasing a round trip to your starting point and a seperate one way from your final destination back to the starting point. I also agree with VanillaSkyGirl. Local French was nothing like my high school French. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy

    1st night jump

I know, I know. BEER Short version: 1st night jump - tinted goggles on night jumps suck. Long Version: I was filling the extra slot on our 2 plane fleet of 182's all day. You know - tandems with video, AFF students no video, blah blah blah. I am manifested to go once again with an AFF student but was asked to wait one load and join 3 other experienced jumpers of whom I am the least experience. F'in A sure I say. Well this delay put us right up to the limit of sunlight and finally the DZ owner pulls out the strobe lights. With a puzzled look I state "Ummm, this is (long pause...thinking for way to say it) my time before my second night jump. While I know this will not save me from buing a case of beer I had to give it a shot. We board the plan, we get to 9K and I start my prejump check. Helmet - check, chest strap tightened - check, dark tinted goggles - oh F#%^... I put them on and look at my wrist. Damn thats one dark looking altimeter. It never really got that bad but I think it could have been worse. I pulled at 4500, as planned and instantly tore my goggles down to my chin. Mental note: helmets straps stop goggles from being pulled down to the neck. As I pulled the highest I was able to see the first two land but found myself amazed at the canopy of the 3rd jumper. Everytime her strobe went off the entire canopy would "pulse" with the light comming up through the canopy. It was really cool. I then set myself up for landing, tail lights to head lights as instructed prior to boarding. Then the best... With all my friends watching I drop right between the vehicles being used to illuminate the peas and did a picture perfect landing. Then there was beer. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
  6. Online traffic schools are GREAT. I, ummm, recently "earned" a ticket for 90 in a 65. (could have been worse) I paid the money to the Inyo county courts, did the online time and POOF, no ticket on my record. If you can go to any traffic school then its worth it. If you are going to a traffic school then any online version is better than classroom time. (I know this personally) ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy

  13. I'm not sure I would consider this a "reality" show. In my humble opinion, it would fall in with shows like Trading Spaces or a home remodeling show. Basically you are getting advice from someone knowledgable in a specific field of expertise! If it were a show about sex and a women was telling you how to "perform" better there would be NO PROBLEM right? (example used for effect) ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
  14. [hang head in shame] Yes I watch it. [/hang head in shame] It is a cool show really. Some of us boys just need help. I watched last nights show and you just know that boy is getting layed (by his now fiance) once they are out of camera sight. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
  15. Almost any brand, double strength, triple sweet & low, cream. Hell I just wish they had a caffine patch. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
  16. Damn this is the truth. My caffine breakdown. 00 to 10 ounces - people die 11 to 30 ounces - people should avoid me or else 31 to 50 ounces - people may not like the reply 51 to 80 ounces - theres a hint of civility 80+ ounces - OK now the day can start in earnest. ------- D.T. 17. Not to offend any ladies here but I would have to say DOVE. Every since she promised me the ride of my life, should I drive 3000 miles to get it, she is the only one for me. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
  18. Decided it was time to purchase one after I put a white strip on a friends black helmet. (yeah, I wear white tennis shoes to jump in...) ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
