How much should I expect to pay for rig assembly/reserve pack?
grue replied to grue's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks for the help guys, I think I'm gonna have the reserve and main shipped right to VSE, so it arrives as a cohesive, jumpable rig cavete terrae. -

I distinctly remember using the phrases "in general" and "seem to be". Personally, yes, I feel it should be illegal to smoke around children completely. Kool-Aid, Diet Coke, TV Dinners, PB&J haven't been linked to as many causes of sickness and/or death as smoking have, and the children make the choice to consume those anyway. They don't make the choice to be born to parents who blatantly disregard the wellbeing of their children. I personally don't care if people smoke around other smokers, and for that matter, I don't have a problem with people out and killing themselves. It's their life. It's when they start damaging the lives of others, especially others that can't do anything about it, that I begin to get annoyed. cavete terrae.

I don't agree with it on a distraction level, I agree with it because, in no particular order: 1. It's damned annoying to sit in traffic and have to smell smoke from other cars. 2. It's annoying as shit when smokers fling their butts out the window and bounce 'em off my car, for one, and for two, it's littering. Smokers in general seem to be about the most inconsiderate demographic I've ever found in terms of cleanliness. They leave their shit all over the place. The world is NOT your ashtray. 3. Maybe it'll cut back on the amount of parents who smoke with their kids in the car. The kids don't smoke, don't force it down their throat. Any responsible parent should be looking out for the best interests of their progeny, and that does NOT include giving them cancer. cavete terrae.

If thats the case, it will probably be winter when you get your AAD. I'd have to say just wait until the reserve is due for a repack and then have the AAD installed. Be safe. Ed That's probably what I'll do. The only reason I'd have 'em crack it open beforehand is if I go back home before my first repack, since Australia requires AADs now. cavete terrae. -
I should also mention the density altitude was 4,500 when I made my jump... WOW that ground was coming up quickly on that busted-ass F-111 7cell! cavete terrae.

Ya know... that's not a bad idea. The thought hadn't even crossed my mind. incidentally, I won't be getting a Cypres for a couple months, how much of a pain in the ass is it going to be to have that installed after the rig is assembled, etc? cavete terrae. -

Just thought I'd find out what's about average to get my new Infinity assembled, the Fusion 210 installed, and the Smart 220 installed and packed. They won't be here for another 6-7 weeks, but I'm getting antsy cavete terrae. -
That cracks me up so much, when people who've never flown before, jump out of the first plane they fly on cavete terrae.

Saturday is my sky birthday, and my dad is going to come do a tandem...

Eeek. Yeah, I'm gonna be on a familiar canopy, and he won't see me land anyway, and so long as I don't completely fuck it up, I'll greet him as he lands cavete terrae. -

I'm gonna torment him just a weee little bit, haha. I'll presumably be going out right before him, so something along the lines of "Remember... whatever happens to you two... I'll be fine! Watch that first step, it's a dooz-OHSHIT!" and fall out of the plane cavete terrae. -

Amazing how when I am fully prepared to pay for music, I cannot find it. Help?
grue replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Yup, no joy on any of the songs. I did end up "acquiring" Jos Sanon though, so I think I'll just order the MM9 CD from back home in Australia and have it shipped here. cavete terrae. -
hehe. At this point, I'm comfortable jumping in anything more than a litte under 20 (17 and under I'm happy, in other words), and I'm on an F-111 7cell I'm really excited to get my new gear though, the idea of actually going FORWARD in the wind during landing is intriguing But yeah, it'll be dead of winter here, cold and shitty, so I figure I should get out of here and jump my ass off somewhere, especially if I wanna have enough jumps to do a HALO at Mullins' place next spring/summer cavete terrae.
