Thanks :) I actually did my first few sit fly jumps in tshirt and shorts, except for the very first one... that was in cargo pants, and they inflated and flipped me over, because I wasn't ready for that In any case, it seems like I can get into the sit regardless of what I'm wearing. Now I just need people to keep sitting with me so I can get some more pointers! Hard work, ahoy! Head down by Christmas! cavete terrae.

Negative. The wait is for the container. The main canopy is slightly used, the reserve is a stock item from Aerodyne. Both canopies are being shipped to VSE so I don't have to wait an extra weekend to get my rigger to assemble and pack the rig. It'll be shipped from VSE ready to jump. cavete terrae.

Yeah, I had my tshirt tucked into the pants, with them cinched down tight. cavete terrae.

I found this somewhat odd... yesterday, I was wearing BDU pants and a plain tshirt whilst flying. I had very little trouble getting into my sit when I did a 2way with a much more experienced freeflyer, and also had no trouble on other jumps whilst sitting. I thought this was somewhat interesting, and probably a good sign. In any case, would it be a good idea to intentionally wear clothing that'll make what I want to do MORE difficult, thus training me for the worst case scenario, and making "normal" situations more easy? cavete terrae.

0:4:3 Did a sitfly with one of our resident freeflyers, he said I'm doing really really good So that was my first sitfly with someone else Did my first head-down dive, just to see what it was like. That feeling of acceleration is I couldn't hold it for more than a couple of seconds, though. I kept falling out of it. First time leaving the aircraft before we had planned. One of the cylinder heads started overheating after we started climbing after putting out a student, so it was decided we'd leave the aircraft at 6k. cavete terrae.

You guys are not going to believe this. That dropzone saboteur made an appearance here, too!! My friend was doing his first jump off the static line, and the Bad Man™ changed the wind 180 degrees once he was on final, and put a cornfield in his way! He had to do a downwinder into the corn because nobody can stop this guy! We suspect he even stole Jarrod's arch, which is why his jump went so badly! cavete terrae.

I called to ask about shipping costs, since my rig will be shipped ready-to-jump, and happened to ask what the estimated ship date was cavete terrae.

Anyone ever flown on a CRJ (Canadair jet) with their rig? Help fast!

I'll take that out and chuck it in my checked bag. cavete terrae. -

Thanks for the advice. I didn't realise that I could have a rig bag PLUS something backpack-sized. I thought it was something really small, like a purse or something. Guess I'll just throw the gloves, alti, log, goggles in with my laptop and stuff in a backpack, and use that as the "other" carryon bag. cavete terrae. -

For real--everyone knows that a Glock 21 is the way to go--he may be unstable! Walt My personal belief is that the H&K USP .45 is the only way to fly cavete terrae. -

I'll just go to WalMart and buy a sport bag of some sort that'll fit rig, logbook, gloves, goggles, alti. That way even if the rest of my baggage gets lost, I can still jump. cavete terrae. -

I have a feeling my Infinity with a Fusion 210 and Smart 220 isn't gonna play that game. C'est la vie. I'll buy a nice durable gear bag to protect my baby cavete terrae. -
I have no idea what you're talking about. In Australia, we use "Pom" as a slang term for someone from the UK. It's shortened from "P.O.M.E.", which is an abbreviation for Prisoner of Mother England. cavete terrae.

Eh... I suppose. I just like having it RIGHT THERE, where absolutely nothing can happen to it, you know? Not to mention the rig will be two and a half months old at that point, so I'm going to still be ultra paranoid cavete terrae. -

It's not a big aircraft (50 passenger I think), so I'm curious if it's one of those "we'll take that, sir" type of things where they mercilessly throw it into a wheelwell or something... If I fly into Eloy on the evening of the 23rd, I miss a day of jumping, but I take a 737 and an Airbus 32S. If I fly in on the 22nd, I have to take a CRJ and a 32S. Which would you go with? I want to book my tickets tonight, since I'm using FF miles. cavete terrae. -

Just to make things clear, I'm a planner. I plan ahead on everything. Always have a plan, always have a backup, that kind of thing. Today, in the midst of listing out how much money I need to allot for the Holiday Boogie, I realised that Omaha's airport probably doesn't get a lot of skydiver traffic, and called the TSA office there. I spoke to a very helpful woman, explained that a few times in the next few months, I'll be travelling with skydiving gear, and I'd like to carry it on. As I expected, she wasn't entirely clear on the rules for such a person, and she proceeded to look them up. After informing me that this woudn't be a problem, and that if they did want to inspect my gear, which she stressed was unlikely, that they'd do it with me right there. Then, she asked if I knew when I'd be travelling with the rig. I said probably sometime in October, and definitely just before Christmas. She then gave me the direct number to her office, and said that if I wanted, I could just call her a couple of days before I travel, and she said she'd notify her screeners to expect a skydiver on such a such day at such a such time to streamline the experience for me! I'm totally blown away, and still stunned now! But... it could be a trap cavete terrae.
