  1. Can't you buy that in a drugstore? It's called 'Epsom Salts' over here in the States. That's a different thing :) cavete terrae.
  2. Oh definitely, but to not let me buy it at all because it's potentially a danger is preposterous. Put a nice little sticker on it that says "Hey, this can kill you", and let it rip. I just go crazy over the cotton-swaddled mentality of society these days. My way of thinking is that if I kill myself by making food, the world is clearly better off without me in it. cavete terrae.
  3. Before I lost weight I'd go to about 25 knots. Now I'd be coming straight down in that, so I scratch at 20 until I downsize again cavete terrae.
  4. Wrong, Grue, have you tried buying some from a slaughterhouse, they always have it. I get mine by the half kilo, lasts me about a year. Apparently (according to a few places, anyway) it's illegal for them to sell it right to me. Apparently I might poison myself!!11oneohmygodweareallgonnadie. I did find a food supply depot that's happy to sell me unadulterated sodium nitrite but their shipping cost was a bit exorbitant so I skipped it this time. $19 to ship 50 grams? Loooool. cavete terrae.
  5. Saved by the internet, got it online in time to brine it tonight and have corned beef for next weekend! DOwnside is that I had to buy pre-blended salt-nitrite "curing salt", so I have to throw away the salt, spices and sugar and stuff that I measured out the other night cavete terrae.
  6. http://cheeseunderground.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/game-changer-fda-rules-no-wooden-boards.html Jesus tittyfucking christ… cavete terrae.
  7. True, but it just looks wrong :( It's hard enough to get the brisket in the first place (most butchers overcharge hellaciously for it), I don't want a funny-looking corned beef at the end. cavete terrae.
  8. Fun adventure: Try and buy sodium nitrite or potassium nitrate in Australia without having to go online. Christ. cavete terrae.
  9. As if handcam isn't already shitty enough value compared to outside video, now the customer has to do everything himself? cavete terrae.
  10. A good friend had a ball-under with a Sabre 1. We actually heard him scream from the ground, he thought he ruptured it but fortunately didn't. cavete terrae.
  11. Static line. Knew I wasn't really interested in a "one and done", decided to go right into training. AFF was out of my price range, and a 5 hour drive minimum besides. cavete terrae.
  12. don't trust them. They make up everything. cavete terrae.
  13. SURELY you have it logged? … says the guy who doesn't log. I spent two years jumping every weekend without logging or joining USPA. I was one of two dropzone pilots and thought why the hell would I want to bother paying money or writing things down, it's just screwing around at work. Looking back I really wish I had put a pen on paper, life for the last couple years would have been much easier. I'm currently back-filling mine from the digital altis to the paper logbook because I decided I want to get instructional ratings. Uggghhhhh cavete terrae.

  15. That's the spirit! …and I should be stateside by then so I'll come harasscelebrate! cavete terrae.
  16. Just thought about how my 10th anniversary of my first jump is the 24th of July, but that falls on a Thursday. Clearly a celebration is in order, but in such a situation would you try and round people up for midweek (winter here) jumping, or just celebrate on the Saturday? PARTAY! cavete terrae.
  17. I used to have to replace a couple of bands every jump, which I attributed to having HMA lines. I moved to small black tubes on my centre two locking stows, and the small beige tubes for the outer two and all the non-locking stows. I now replace one every ten jumps or so for the non-locking stows and every 50 jumps or so for a locking stow. It's been nearly a decade since I made the switch, so I can't honestly tell you if it's had any effect on my openings. For the tandem rigs I pack at work, we use bands all around, double-stowed on the non-locking stows. The TMs claim these give the best openings, and since I'm not up there I don't really have any grounds to dispute their claim. cavete terrae.
  18. Or have your parents visit you. Why go to the UK ever? cavete terrae.
  19. If uneducated NIMBY retards hadn't held us back this wouldn't really be much of an issue. But hey, atoms are scary. cavete terrae.
  20. Well… there can be very good reasons. cavete terrae.

    What is it?

Neo-Victorian testicle branding tool. cavete terrae.
  22. I've been toying with the idea of going here for a while now. Is it just me, or did the price spike recently? I could swear it used to be in the $350 range, now they're advertising it at $550. Am I imagining that? Also, I know where this is located, but why don't they give their location anywhere on the site, except on the calendar (which is for some reason full of scuba diving course listings)? Did they start to travel around with it? Yup, used to be 350-400. Planning on going there once I move back stateside, annoyed to see it's risen but that's the game. High enough now that I question how much I want to do it. cavete terrae.
