  1. Check my dad's shirt: http://spiceweasel.net/dadshirt.jpg cavete terrae.
  2. If I remember correctly, the swooper slid to a stop and the canopy collapsed into the fire/embers. It didn't burst into flames and burn to ash, and he did yank it out as quickly as possible, but I seem to remember that it was substantially burnt, i.e. to the point that only the mfg could fix it, if anyone. Blues, Dave Ouch cavete terrae.
  3. Solid royal blue. Why? It's my favourite colour, and I've always liked solid colour canopies. EDIT: It also stands out on the ground. Might be slightly tough to see FROM the ground though. cavete terrae.
  4. Barrack for the underdog! cavete terrae.
  5. Since Mike Mullins is a Fed Ex captain on their airbus planes, I have no qualms with Fed Ex getting their packages through on time. Weirder yet, Mike is based out of Tennessee, and my parachute is made in Tennessee... I wonder if it'll end up on one of his planes cavete terrae.
  6. Already done, I got paranoid :) They updated my info for when they need to contact me. In theory I shouldn't have to pay tax or duty, but I'll have to pay the processing fee I'm sure. cavete terrae.
  7. Interesting. What's involved with pre-clearing customs? Hm, I just realised they might not have a current phone # for me, since it changed since I put in the order. That might be.. problematic. cavete terrae.
  8. So how messed up was the canopy? cavete terrae.
  9. Ha! I was visiting a DZ several years ago and a guy's new canopy showed up while he wasn't there. A certain well known canopy pilot threw it in his rig and jumped it just so he could rib the owner about putting the first jump on it. He was carving the swoop and ended up hitting the fucking bonfire with it. I've since wondered how that explanation went down. Blues, Dave Oh shit cavete terrae.

  11. The ONLY change I would make to mine would be a longer chest strap, which is pretty damned minor cavete terrae.

I think he had a jammed Xenu cavete terrae.

  14. I have never once seen the US Postal Service's tracking actually work, but we'll see! cavete terrae.
  15. Realistically nothing's going to get it here for the weekend unless I'm willing to pay an exorbitant amount of cash, so I'm just going with the "1-3 day" option and expecting it Monday. cavete terrae.
  16. I went with US Mail. $50 cheaper and gets here just as fast. THe main difference is that I can't obsessively track it like I could with UPS cavete terrae.
  17. From: Precision Subject: RE: fusion 190 order confirmation Date: January 3, 2007 7:26:17 AM GMT+11:00 To: grue Good Afternoon Stephen, Your canopy is ready to ship. Do you want me to ship it US Mail or UPS? cavete terrae.
  18. Weight doesn't matter a whole lot if you have the muscle to move it. I'm 6'3", 225lbs or so and I had the 2nd fastest 60 yard sprint time on my uni soccer team, vs a bunch of skinny guys. Why? Because muscle weighs more than fat, and I have a shitload of short twitch fibres vs long twitch. cavete terrae.
  19. The pattern at Eloy depends on where you are landing, but it is clearly indicated in the briefing, or at least was for me. That having been said, you can't really expect to dictate a certain pattern as a blanket for all DZs, because such a thing might not work for all DZs for one reason or another. My DZ back in the US, if you're landing in a certain area and crops are high, you can't execute a left-hand pattern if you want to land to the south, because your base leg would take you right over the runway. Well, I guess you could if your base leg was about 60 metres wide and the pattern was adjusted for that Veeeeeeery long landing area, but not so wide. cavete terrae.
  20. I know who the wingsuiter was cavete terrae.
  21. Yo Dave! You guys get those updated logo files I emailed, for the new products? My email went whacky and accidentally nuked a bunch of stuff,, so let me know if not! ANNNYYWAY I love the 182 and 206 because that's what I learned to jump on. I love the Skyvan because I love the tail exit (haven't jumped a CASA) I love the Otter because of the big door I love the King AIr for the speed But, if I had to pick just one for the rest of eternity it'd need to be one of the tail loaders, because of the versatility. High capacity, not horribly slow, raft jumps and big tubes are possible, etc etc. cavete terrae.
  22. Do you know what sort of canopies they are using? cavete terrae.
  23. My brain just exploded. cavete terrae.
  24. I think Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller) said it best: "The more exposure you have to bad things, within reason, the better your immune system is. This is why I like to fuck dead things I find in the subway" I paraphrase, but it was along those lines and one of the funniest things I've ever heard on the radio cavete terrae.
