That hardly qualifies as unassailable logic. There are a couple of assumptions in there that may not be accurate. We're all assholes to somebody. Don't worry about it.And don't worry about dating. Do things with freinds. Group activities. Don't be looking for a girlfreind. Just a freind. When I was going through the same thing, I found that I had a problem with the word "freind". I found that I have no control over who is my freind. I only control who I am a freind to. I can choose to give my freindship to some one. I can't make someone give their freindship to me. That's their choise. It might be asked, "Are they a freind of yours?" I say, "I don't know, You would need to ask them. I can tell you that I'm a freind of theirs." You would not think it a hardship getting out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the aid of a freind. If anyone has ever done the same for you, you can probably count them as a freind. So, be a freind and you'll find you have freinds. Also, be a freind to yourself. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. It was "the" film when I saw it in early 1974. Wings would have been about 76 I would guess. What about "Proof". "like a bb into dogshit"...... I saw Masters in Dec. of '69. I always liked the idea of skydiving from the Ripcord TV show but when I saw the scene with all the oranges I knew I was going to do it. Two months later I got the chance and my life started down a very different path. Truman Sparks always reminded me of Norm Ross. Norm wann't spacey like Truman but every bit as laid back. How Many American Christians Are Really Atheist?
Niki1 replied to skyrider's topic in Speakers Corner
Ridiculous...christianity is not even mentioned in the bible...It's just a word describing something/someone with whom you believe. My responce: Yes, it's that beleif system that the apostles/disciples created. He didn't have to...He's God. If you've studied scripture you'd see that Jesus often told others to do this and do that for his miracles to come to fruition... My responce: You're using the book we're talking about to prove the book we're talking about. Is that like using a word to define the word? There are many attacks on scripture...God has surely provided us with a defense: "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. If you want to talk descrepencies...list them...be specific. Lets have a real debate. I'd love the challenge...are you up to it? My responce: You're using the book we're talking about to prove the book we're talking about. Is that like using a word to define the word? You seem to present much about what you don't understand...do you even know the difference between a disciple and an apostle? My responce: Yes, I used the wrong word. (Good thiing I wasn't one of the translators. It's interesting that the picking and choosing was done by the romans and ironiclly enough their picking and choosing really has nothing to do with their doctrine nor belief...they simply found a way to control the masses...the scriptues they chose are are humourously out of touch with their definitions...It proves the point that those without the spirit cannot discern scripture nor even understand it...almost everything the Romans say about scripture is antithetical to it. My responce: Constintine was the Roman Emporer who commioned the work. He was the emporer of the eastern half of the Roman Empire. He was a christian. He chose between 2 clerics. One from around the northeast Med and one from Cairo. He chose the one from the NE Med. The one from Cairo would have chosen to include other writtings as well. LMFAO...lets believe the traitor. perhaps he'd have some credibility if he didn't kill himself over guilt. Your argument is hillarious...do you even see the irony? You'd rather believe in something with less credibility than the words of many that you say are not credible. My responce: And a gospel of Mary. The Mary Magdeline character in the Bible is probably a composite of severel different women. And why be so down on Judas? If Jesus had to die for all the sins of the world, then Judas played an important part in your salvation. As we've learned earlier, this is not the case if you've actually taken the time to study scripture...either biasedly or not. My responce: Just because you or I say something doesn't mean the other has "learned" it. AND You're using the book we're talking about to prove the book we're talking about. Is that like using a word to define the word? In't not a video...it's a book...100% accurate in it's original language...both literally and metaphorically. My responce: I intended the quotation marks to indicate a metaphore. The new testament wasn't written as a book. It was a collection of selected works writtin at different times and places. 100% accurate? The kid who says the star slid toward him is problably telling the truth. From his point of view. Can something be literal and metaphorical at the same time? Humans are rather thick. My responce: This has been proven down through history. I know for certain. -

Jesus did not create Christianity. The disciples did. Jesus didn't do any writting himself like Mohammed did. Not any that have been found, anyway. Everything we know about him is second-hand. His gang wrote accounts of his life and even they have descrepances about what happened when. These guys wrote what they heard from their own perspective. I wouldn't think they intentionally shaded anything but it wasn't like they were keeping diaries. They wrote their accounts years after the events. And some of the accounts weren't written by the disciples. They were written by some one who heard the disciple tell it. So it wasn't like "verbal video" as it might have been with some one constantly recording the events as they happened. So these slightly varying stories were passed around for a few hundred years. During this time, a lot of folks heard the stories and thought there were some very good ideas in them. And then some one decided to gather them together. But not everyting was included. Some one did the picking and choosing. It would be fair to think that things this person didn't agree with were not included. Supposedly, a "Gospel of Mary" has been found. Even a "Gospel of Judas". So "christianity" was created, not by Jesus. but by men who may not have gotten the story exactly correct. That's the best case. The worst case is that they shaped it to their own purposes. To think that the Bible is the "verbal video" that is 100% accurate just doesn't pass the logic test. It's been through over 30 translations even before all the modern day "versions". I think Jesus was a good man, a cool dude. I like to think he had a sence of humor. Even if his ideas were a littled mangled, a lot of folks thought they were goof enough to live by. It's the people who subvert good ideas for their own purposes who are evil. Wheather it's to motivate a large number of people for a crusade or jihad, to warn a neighbor of the dangers of hell. Jesus wasn't a militant. He didn't demand anyone to beleive. He just put the ideas out there and the listeners could decide for themselves, take it or leave it. I wish the modern day christians would be more Christ like. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. If you shoot someone in the US, there's a pretty good chance that you will be arrested. Handcuffed, booked and thrown in jail. You may or may not face charges. You may or may not be convicted. A lot of that depends on the attitudes of the local PD and prosecutor. Look at the gun possesion case in New Jersey for an example of that. It will not be fun, simple or cheap. I was taught that if I pull a gun out in public and point it at someone, plan on being arrested and spending $5k in legal bills. If I actually pull the trigger, it will cost more like $20k. My life is worth that, but my car stereo isn't. All that only happens if the polece get involved. I live in a pretty rural area on a dead end road with not many other houses around. If some one breaks into my house, I don't plan on calling the cops. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. WOW, you took a long time to pass! When I got off static line, I wasn't unstable, I was freestylin'. I was ahead of my time. Lyle Cammerons mag had a cartoon around 1970. It showed 2 guys looking out the door. One was saying, "Left turn, right turn, back loop. left turn, right turn, back loop. Damn, I thought he'd never come to the end of that static line." Of the about 500 AFF jumps I've made, the majority of them were with 2 who I was lucky to know. The first was Mke McQuire. Maddog and I got our AFFIs together and did the Palatka courses for a year or 2. The student always felt as if they had Mike's undivided attention. The attention to detail was excellent. If anyone sees him, remind him that practice doesn't make perfect. It makes permenent. PERFRCT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. The other waa Joe Morgan. One of the most professional (without being cold) I ever knew. His debriefs always stressed what went right. And the students left wanting to come back. Then pour another one, and relax...Ya jackwagon! I don;t think "getting somewhere" is the goal! Hell, you can peddle all the way to drunk. And the more you peddle the stronger you get. The more you drink the lighter the load gets. This is a winner all the way around. Except for the cops and the beer on the beach thing. I know! wrap a big plastic label around the kegs to make them look like coke cans.

That would be a great beach cruiser. In about 6 months.

In about '88 or '89 I had an opening on a Mavarick that was the HARDEST opening I've EVER had. And I've had Piglets and Starlites. This opening was so hard that I could use my right arm on the way doen. The feeling came back in a few hours but I still wwnt to my chiropractor Doc Gaffney in DeLand. He took X-Rays and I waited in a treatment room. He came in withe the X-Rays and asked, "When did you break your neck?" HUH? The X-Rays showed 3 of my cervical vertibrae (sp) had grown together. No isign of where the discs used to be except that the middle one was a liile out of line. There was a nasty crack going doagonally through the now single piece of bone. He said that probably was cause by the recent hard opening but when had I broken my neck to cause the fusing? The only thing I can remember is when I was 5 or 6 years old I was jumping out of a swing to see how far I could go. Well, the last time I tried I was swinging way too high and wound up comming out of the seat backwards. I fell problably 7 feet and landed square on my head. That may explain other areas of my life byt my neck was sore for a while and I soon forgot about the incident. But ever since, I've had less mobility in my head movement and more suseptable to muscle spasisms in the neck and shoulders. Since I've always had the problem, I've never noticed the problem as a problem. I guess I've compensated for it in the sports I've participated in. Very subliminal! Oh my GOD!!! try very hard to not make typos and mistakes that the grammer nazis can pounce upon. And the first one in a long time is this one. I don't use the word (I don't even know what it means) So I don't think it's subliminal but it is funny even if it is on me. Thanks for pointing out my fox paw. People who want to be offended will find some thing to be offended by. I don't agree with most concepts of "God." But I don't care if others do. As long as they don't try to force their belief systems on me. I don't force my beleifs on anyone else and I require the same from others. Kind of like the Golden Rule. And I try not to assume discrimination before it happens. I would do business in a "christian" bank as well as a "jerish" or "muslim" bank. As long as they treat me like they treat every one else. I don't kike green bottle beer either but I don't care if you drink it. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. I know, we're not supposed to admit things like this. But there are some movies that can be called "Chick Flicks" that we might watch instead of Rocky Part whatever. Mine, (one of them) is "You've Got Mail". Tom Hanks can do any kind of role. He's a modern day Cary Grant. And Meg Ryan is... Wel that's private for me only. I got to thinking about this a week or so ago when my wife pointed out that Ihe movie I was watching was a chick flick. It was the privacy of my own house so I saw no harm in it. But it did get me to thinking. So, what movies of this "genre" do you like? Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done.
