Oil companies want tax dollars to protect them against climate change

This is my largest concern, when the news broke my thought was "Fuck, two years too soon." I would much rather that the next President be chosen by American voters. Don't think that either Trump or Pence could win it but I absolutely don't want Pence to remain in D.C. any longer than he needs to. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I just looked at their website. To give them their due, it was actually "Manafort found guilty on 8 counts in fraud trial; mistrial declared on others". Not so bad. But it did come after the headline item about the suspected killer of a young white woman having been caught -- and he's an illegal immigrant. Say what one will about the details, I suppose a murder can take precedence over politicians' white collar crimes. They're back to barely a mention of it. I guess 12 hours (while Trump was sleeping) was long enough to risk backlash from their target audience (Trump). They're leading with the illegal immigrant murder of Mollie Tibbetts, there's a picture of Manafort and Cohen with an article about GOP midterms, another of Manafort for an article about him being pardoned. That's all, buried in the Times. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
DJL replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
In the meantime even Fox (Well, Fox2 St. Louis) is broadcasting accurate information on man made global warming. I wonder if we'll get this in time or we'll leave future civilizations with a very well documented description of how we drove the car off the cliff. https://fox2now.com/2018/02/26/nasa-releases-time-lapse-of-the-disappearing-arctic-polar-ice-cap/ "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
I think the only reason it's become prevalent recently is because Hobby Lobby didn't want emergency contraception to be involved in their insurance package. Their claim was that a pregnancy starts at conception and therefore Plan-B is an abortion. I think we all know that a pregnancy will not continue if the fertilized egg never implants. No humble opinion needed. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Campaign finance issues aside? Yeah, we'll leave those out. Nothing wrong with infidelity except for infidelity. Other than that it sounded entirely consensual. Blackmail? Maybe. Sounds like they're perfect for each other. I don't want to hear any cries of victimization from her or that she's doing this to expose him to the American people. If she gave a shit about the American people she would've done this without a paltry $130k payout. I'm going to wager that she burned through that pretty quick and realized the only way to keep the gravy train running was to use it for publicity. Levonorgestrel is a common birth control, Plan B is only a more concentrated dose of it. It cannot act quickly enough and is not powerful enough to affect the endometrium, they list it because they have to describe every possibility as to how it may work. There is no evidence showing that this actually happens. Studies have shown that it will not stop a fertilized egg from implanting: https://ec.princeton.edu/questions/ecwork.html "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I was having a conversation with several friends about making Plan B available by an Uber driver with a Plan B Pez dispenser and that I would support legislation that would make it cheap, free, or more readily available in a effort to reduce unplanned pregnancies. Now, regardless of whether it will have that effect is a separate issue but after a very long discussion I realized that they think Plan B is an abortion. I do understand that there is a history of opposition to Plan B and that at some point it was thought even in the medical community that it stopped a fertilized egg from being implanted. It's unfortunate that this language made its way into the FDA description but there is now overwhelming data showing that Plan B will not stop a fertilized egg from being implanted, that it does not affect the endometrium, that it only stops fertilization. So, I'm curious how much people understand about Plan-B. Edit: Wups, sorry for misspelling "Contraceptive" in the thread title. Mondays, ya know? Not if you got nothing to hide! Makes perfect sense. Agreed, what I've been saying all along. If T gets in trouble it'll be for trying to hide something. For him to be implicated in collusion they would need a recording or several corroborating witnesses. Considering how many people have flipped on him at this point I'd say that they don't have that and therefore it didn't happen. The only thing pointing at him is how much knowledge he had of the meeting with T Jr and I don't think there's much criminality there because it seems like that particular meeting didn't develop into a formal case of collusion. They had the meeting, it was the wrong move and they swept it under the rug which was also the wrong move. T Jr will probably see the inside of a courtroom for it and maybe he'll get a slap on the wrist. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Right. You wouldn't want to distort your world view with any facts, would you? I guess you'd have to ask yourself why the MSM exists. Do you really believe their sole purpose is to give you the facts? Oh hell no, especially Television media. I've entirely stopped watching TV news, there's simply no way to adequately convey the facts of a situation within the time-frame in which they need to do it. She really is a huge piece of opportunistic shit who leveraged the Presidency of the United States against a paltry $130k. At this point, beyond the basic concept of infidelity, I could give a shit less it he was having sex with her, it was obviously consensual. If there was campaign fraud it's because she and her lawyer orchestrated it in a form of blackmail. Sure, call it what you want but in the end she withheld information that could have further exposed what a piece of shit he is to middle America voters and for that my message to her is "Fuck You, you trailer trash piece of shit." Setting aside Ron's views, the "degree of Christian" thing is something I've never understood, especially from my perspective as a previous believer. I understand that there are cultural Christians, they go to Church, sing the hymns, go home and barbecue, etc and it's all part of being a proper WASP or Baptist or Catholic etc so your grandma keeps you in the will. What I don't get is people who say they believe in a God but take no further effort to learn about their religion and live according to their faith. If that's what you believe, that your afterlife is dependent upon adhering to your faith then there is no other thing in the world that should matter to you. I'm not being hyperbolic by saying that your existence and eternal soul depend on your understanding and adherence to the religion. Yet, those same people have barely an equivalent of a 6th grader understanding of what's in the bible. Maybe it's that the only people who remain religious are those who are somehow incapable of understanding that Christianity is a self-contradicting pile of mythology and superstition. Is there something about being a Russian that makes it inherently illegal to get information from them. If someone was looking up financial dealing that Hillary Clinton had with a Canadian national do you think they would not get that information from a Canadian bank or deal with Canadian people? BillyVance's "You Can't Make This Up" News Stories Thread

This requires some further expansion, the people meeting with Don Jr. said very clearly that their efforts were at the behest of the Russian government. The information Steele gathered was commonplace intelligence gathering which includes people who are Russians willing to provide information (This does not mean that his sources were truthful and not working in a counterintelligence capacity, e.g., the pee pee tapes). The two are entirely opposites. Let's say that someone running against a New Jersey mayor hired some investigators to do some digging and found dirt on their opponent via a mob snitch, they turn it over to the authorities and the person goes on trial - that is an example of what the HRC campaign did. The counter example would be a campaign member meeting with the mob as part of a coordinated effort for them to get a specific person elected. Edit: Further expansion is that if you think what the HRC Campaign did was wrong then you have to REALLY think that what the Trump Campaign did was wrong. There's a spotting Ap in which you can input the winds aloft and get it to spit out the probable landing location. That said, knowing where it was chopped more important, you'll need to walk the entire wind line but if there were cross winds it's not likely you will never see the tandem again. The NRA Says It’s in Deep Financial Trouble, May Be ‘Unable to Exist’
DJL replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm amazed at the number of people who are too scared to go to the local stores unarmed in the USA's safest era (wrt to violent crime) of the last half-century. Little old ladies used to do it regularly back when violent crime was a substantially bigger problem. Nothing screams "I'm a coward!" like a civilian openly carrying a gun in public. I'll wager 90% of them just like to be seen with it. Basically the Buck Knife on the belt loop crowd found a new fashion accessory. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
