I'm curious if at this point we could've endured the same losses by identifying the companies that had intellectual property and technology transfer issues and simply paid them to produce their products in the US.

From the article, doesn't seem like they're using standard production batteries for their test flights. Perhaps this will help to push the "NASA Batteries" into production use. Even if the ROI is similar to turbines you have to imagine the short haul market would see the value and help develop it.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
DJL replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Except the steady rise in temperature shows that to be false or else we'd also have periods of balance. If you turn your refrigerator off and move the frozen peas in with the milk to keep them cold that doesn't mean there's an offset by the gains in milk cooling. Scientists barely even agree that the gains in snow in Antarctica offset it's own loss in ice, so it definitely doesn't represent a global offset. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/is-antarctica-losing-ice-or-gaining-it/ -
Do you often run into situations in which you need to specifically state that 1 in 10 was destroyed and state it in a way that people will understand you're speaking in the context of it's Latin use in the time of Visloths and Vandals?

That hits on a point I like to make in Virginia where open carry is a right but nobody utilizes it. Even all these people with "Shall not be Infringed" tattoos down their arm don't carry a gun. It's annoying to carry a gun because it has to dictate every action you make considering that it's pretty unsafe to leave it unattended. I know only one person who actually carries and he's a huge 2A nut so it's part of his identity.

This is that example of some things being better than thought, some things being worse. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2019/12/10/greenland-ice-losses-have-septupled-are-pace-sea-level-worst-case-scenario-scientists-say/?utm_campaign=post_most&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=Newsletter&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1 -
Mostly because bored 22 year olds with guns and live ammo leads to stupid shit happening.

The Constitution also doesn't dictate the specifics of how the 2nd Amendment is administered. I don't think this one case requires us to rewrite anything, we're not exposing a real threat. It could be seen as either exposing a loophole or an example of how little threat "foreigners" pose even if they're scary Muslims considering how isolated this is. I only bring this up at all because it seems odd that something (firearm ownership) which people practically pray to as a tenet of our country requires no further steps to analyze the background of a person who isn't even a citizen. The uppercase "HOWEVER" is that this guy went through a government background check so what were they going to find anyway?

I think a DZ is a bit too unique for comparison in the context in which we discuss a gig economy. We instruct for personal fulfillment and to offset the expense of the sport in addition to the extra income. We don't really gripe that tandem pay hasn't gone up in a long time and part of that is because it's not caused by DZO's squeezing employees while their stockholders get rich.

Opinion: Protections are things that protect persons from harms and illegal acts. There's a long precedent of non-citizens not having the same privileges as citizens. While this doesn't mean that a non-citizen should not be able to purchase or possess a weapon there's no reason why the process shouldn't be more stringent, just as there's no reason why the process shouldn't be more stringent overall.

There's no magic word that means someone goes to jail for saying something. Even if I posted on my FB page that I was going to kill somebody there still needs to be credible intent. This guy is just an asshole. Considering who he's threatening I'd say they have the clout to appeal and continue the case if they thought the verdict was improper.

You're having a bout of Nihilism and it's no big deal, something that passes and comes and goes and comes back again and goes again. It's part of passing through the years and trying to figure out why the fuck you're busting your ass just to uphold the premise of a normal life in which you're supposed to make money and do this and do that and then blink out of existence at a higher probability as a function of your age. Hobbies, spontaneity and internet porn help.

There was no indication he was serious but he crossed the line in making a statement like this. He got what he deserved which was getting raked across the courtroom.

And has been interpreted to mean different things. But in any case, the clever little film is still bullshit. The second amendment was written to provide the loosest interpretation and broadest coverage, this is shown time and time again in the writings of those involved in its inception who wanted to use it to help assure the American colonies that no group of states or citizens would be at the mercy of a federal government to protect themselves from either that government or from smaller security risks. However, there is no law that rises above public health or cannot be annotated to protect citizens from misuse. Just as speech is protected but not when it's used to incite illegal acts, weaponry can be restricted if that type poses an undue risk to citizens. The rest of the discussion is about where we draw that line.

Exactly. I hear Brent makes his employees shine the chrome on his Bentley during weather holds.

Got it. There's been data that they've gotten worse where they always happened but everything I've read on IPCC lists them in the ambiguous category with a theory that they'll increase in some places. I believe the same was said for hurricanes, for both we haven't been tracking them for very long and their natural variability is outside of the scale of our observations. -
And of course you answer your original question too. The most latest breaking info is that he was able to purchase it even though he's a foreign national and I think we can all agree that the 2nd Amendment didn't get written to let non-citizens purchase firearms so easily. I don't think the fact that's he's a Saudi is relevant considering that US citizens seems just as likely to become radicalized for some bullshit reason whether it's a gay man who said he was shooting people in the name of ISIS or someone shooting up a Synagogue. They're all fucked in the head.

"1% isn't terrible and we are starting to see the effects of a labor shortage with increased pay but there are simply too many people and we're advancing automation more than ever. " Exactly how I quoted myself. We're in a good job market and we're at as low of a rate of unemployment as we'll likely see but we've still not creating a situation in which salary increases. There are many people willing to take low paying jobs and not complain about it.

Is this another example of a thing you're saying they didn't exactly get right which you think therefore invalidates all the things they did get right? Would you mind providing the IPCC quote on their expectation on droughts? As it currently stands their statement is that there's inadequate information because the study period is too short to observe anything beyond natural variability but that it will likely increase in some places and decrease in others. What you're saying isn't exactly damming. https://wg1.ipcc.ch/presentations/Sbsta_drought.pdf -

Sounds good, let’s do nothing and check back in 20 years and see if it’s progressing as they say. -
You're talking about that one little part in 2016? That's ignoring most of the graph. As for wage growth again, steady through Obama to Trump. My joke aside, a President has little to do with the economy during their own Presidency. As for hourly earnings, pretty flat still: Real wage growth taking inflation into account is pretty bad: 1% isn't terrible and we are starting to see the effects of a labor shortage with increased pay but there are simply too many people and we're advancing automation more than ever.

Don't fret, Trump is already deflecting blame from Saudi Arabia: Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump King Salman of Saudi Arabia just called to express his sincere condolences and give his sympathies to the families and friends of the warriors who were killed and wounded in the attack that took place in Pensacola, Florida.... https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/12/06/trump-king-salman-said-saudi-people-angered-pensacola-shooting/4355837002/
