Sail before steam? out of date concept or not?
DJL replied to Andrewnewell's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think sailing is a perfect metaphor for all parachuting activities. In fact, I think we should communicate with each other under canopy via phonetic code flags. Here are a few examples: Slow Landing direction? Haiku These would be quite easy to just hoist up your lines for all to see. Furthermore, vesseles over 390 ft^2 should be required to trail a steaming cone. Wait, they do... "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
Can that act as an external DVD on your computer also? It looks like the only device connection for a computer is a USB port. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

How do you feel about the smokeless flash pans? I think it’s a step forward but it seems like my glass is a bit overexposed. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I agree, there is special place in hell for the PT Cruiser. I fight the urge to run it off the road any time I see one. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

[N] is it possible to pack your chute backwards?
DJL replied to superman0710's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This isn't any big deal. The best way to land this is to swing upside-down in your harness so you're facing the correct direction. Flare your rear risers with your legs and run it out by walking on your hands. I've done this lots of times. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
Alright, I've gone through The Who "Live at Leeds" a few times this weekend already. Great find. Thanks. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

You might be thinking of the Ben Harper cover. Already a good song, and his cover is tremendous. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I agree. I don't like how dave sings - it sounds like he's gargling - but I like the instruments. I was pretty dissapointed with everything starting with "These Streets" and afterwards, it was all so studio. Skid, yeah, the MTV unplugged was pretty nice, you can't beat a chill acoustic show. I always cracked up at the tools they had in the audience. I'm not sure if any of them had ever even heard the music, just got tickets on a connection, but they knew how to clap. And they clapped in time through the whole fucking show. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Uh, so if your wife fakes an orgasm "Oh, yes...yes...yes, I'm having an orgasm! You're so...OH!!!" ("O" face).... I'll let you finish the thought. Or does she say, "Honey, I'm not getting it this time, just letting you know - so that we can maintain an honest relationship - that I'm just putting on an act, 'Oh, yes...yes!!!' "? I found a good starter lens at best buy for $35. It came with an array of step down rings. Do a search on here for the various conversations as to which lens is used for what, etc. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Yeah, when I pulled it out, I said, "Damn that's small." But the camera still looked pretty big next to it. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I think #1 is the best. The binding tape really makes the difference, but yeah, it has the potential to get dirty quickly. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Coincidentally, I watched it last night. What a shitty movie. It was really as if Shamla-ding-dong started every scene with "Ok, rememeber, dead-pan and monotonous; this is your utopia...Take 15 - DEADPAN!" Luckily I had just bought a carpet at home depot so we got to spend the movie talking about how the rug matched the sofa and whether the rug was worse than the movie. Well, my birthday was in December, it's my 29 and 3 months day! Phree I got the kit. I'll have to get nice and sloshed again to get some proper lenses. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I'm glad someone caught that. I'm neither a Kevin Costner nor a Susan Sarandon fan but it's a good quote. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
