The people who were on this aircraft need to take spotting a bit more seriously. I've seen tiny aircraft from altitude and there's no way someone should miss something of this size and shape against the ground. Also, it's not just the spotter's responsibility. Everyone can look out the windows. A few months ago I saw a plane that would have passed right beneath us parallell to jump run just by looking out a side window as we turned onto the jumprun leg. I wouldn't even feel comforable with soap and water. Yeah you might flush some sand but you're also hydrating and dehydrating materials. Again, I'm no rigger or chemist but am interesting in a technically based response to my assumptions. I think the USPA is just acknowleding that there are better systems in place than what they can currently provide. If they got involved would it really be education or just regulation. Both would help but only education would improve the pool. I would personally like to see a canopy course as a requirement of, at least, the D license. I think the current license program is a joke.
