It costs money to train a cop and there's even a selection process for aptitude. When you think about the $ it would take to have what amounts to an armed militia inside every school in the country the concept becomes prohibitive. Next, you somehow need to be able to identify a shooter and have the teachers get there in their penny-loafers fast enough to keep anything from happening. Next, there will be teacher turn-over and retraining which means more money to keep the system in place and effective. In the long run it won't happen. Schools hardly have the budget to keep graffiti off the walls. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

It's easy to forget that the USSR was fighting a very cold and bloody war a long time before Normandy. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Just pick up a few E-2's or C-2's and...well, you should find out how much $ goes out the exhaust pipe...then put them to work on a DZ. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I'm surprised that such a thing would exist. A capable pilot could inflict a lot of damage and death if allowed to fly again. Pilots who were shot down were put back in action as soon as possible. This is a great and touching story but from everything I've read it looks like Charlie Brown continued dropping bombs on German targets. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Probably because it's trending right now. Not all things that are trendy are bad. As far as advertising and recruiting goes...the social media slam makes sense, but boards do not as gyms are local. I just think its a lot of fun and a great workout. Very personally rewarding. I am surprised at the feeling of accomplishment I get after a good WOD, it's very similar to a good base jump. The network is national so it would make sense. I know absolutely nothing about it but I'm finding out that it would be a good program for me if I went to the gym. It's very similar to how I worked out when I played college lacrosse. But I prefer to get my workouts on the 200 acres of trails behind my house and on the various rivers in my area, the smell is much better than that of people's BO and an overheating treadmill. Why am I getting a social media slam from Crossfit. I have people on Facebook blabbing about their work-outs and now I'm seeing it on forums. My assumption is that people are getting rebate for extra time for posting it to boards. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Of all the things you've said on here that's probably the biggest crock of shit. I think it's annoying that people pick on your for your religious views but you've stepped outside of that scope for this little gem. You picked a great example of soldiers whose lives have have done great things for the country. Do you want politicians who will send soldiers to their deaths for purely political reasons? You're a Vietnam Vet, right? How about escalating a conflict on the grounds of a couple of overeager 19-year-old E-nothing Sonar Techs because the administration wants containment in a SE Asian jungle nation. Then 40 years later you have every single one of those politicians state that the war was unjustified. How about a President who invades Iraq while the mission in Afghanistan in no-where near complete? That action cut the budget to Afghanistan by 5.3 Billion Dollars in the first year and then exceeded the budget in Afgh by several times in the coming years to a total cost of $3 Trillion. I don't know about you but I have a couple of friends, teammates, and classmates who could've used that budget to pay for better armor on their Humvees, better forward scouting for enemy activity along roadways, and better detection of IEDs. And then of course those same politicians state that the reason for invading Iraq was invalid (R AND D party members). Our soldiers are not cannon fodder for political agendas - we citizens require more. We're unwilling to put someone in power from either party who does not value lives. While we must be a nation who is willing to get our hands bloody when the time comes we cannot send soldiers to die every time a political rift arises. "No jumping EVER." Hmmmm... Sounds like a challenge to me. I think I see canopies in her future, perhaps next summer. What are the legalities? The only off DZ jumps I've made we're from a balloon and a glider. Does that parachute symbol on the sectional mean we can jump there without FAA hassles? I wonder how many other "phantom DZs" exist on maps? 377 So, for a jump at a place not licensed as a DZ all you need is a waiver for said location. Sounds like one could obtain the waiver without the AO knowing about it. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

It probably was a dormir that someone enclosed, maybe even with a balcony door that could have opened to a porch or a possibly a separate exit if the owner rented out the upstairs. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Ok, nevermind. There will be no advancements that could make this work better and get rid of some of the problematic issues that plagued previous models and concepts. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Look at the history of the flying wing. It's an example of how the technology wasn't there at a given point to make something work. Now imagine a military platform that could allow soldiers to float 50 ft above an urban warfare environment surrounded by bulletproof glass. Just a little photography advice. Dogs who are pictured in cages don't get picked up very quickly. Take it outside and give it a toy to play with. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
