  1. I personally don't see any cons in using an RSL with a WS. I like RSLs. My sport rig and WS rig both have RSL connected. The only time I don't use it is when doing CRW and BASE Memento Audere Semper 903
  2. Very true. I think you guys should saddle this once for all. I got an idea. We set a cage right on the visitor center at TF. At the right corner TA and at the left corner JU. The only rules are no biting, and no testicles hitting anything else is permitted. Last BASE jumper standing wins and the defeated can't talk shit about the winner anymore. What you guys think? 3. Read my post again please. I said that IMO Stane's method is more accurate than what PD and others use. The fact stays: A Cobalt/Apha 95 measures almost like a Stiletto 107. Memento Audere Semper 903
  4. I jump an Alpha 99 and a Viper 105. They are incredible canopies but they do measure bigger than the "same-size-on-the-paper" PD canopies. I actually think Stane's method for measuring canopies is more accurate than what PD and others use. But if you want to compare a Cobalt 95 to a Stiletto you must compare it to a 107 not a 97. 5. You are forgetting that Stane measures canopies differently from PD. A Cobalt 95 is about the size of a stiletto 107. Memento Audere Semper 903
  6. That looks like a neat simple system. The only problem I see is in the case of a water landing where you have to cut-away ASAP before drawing and now you have to yank on three release systems instead of just one. I think the single most important factor is the cable length. Please make sure you have at least 5" of slack. I would like to know the actual reasons for the failure of the 3-ring systems. Where (in the system) did it actually happen? What did brake? In one case where no apparent damage was seen I could speculate that the cause was the length of the cable/s. Memento Audere Semper 903
  7. Funny shit man! Memento Audere Semper 903
  8. Don't throw it towards your feet. Throw it on your side almost like a normal BOC, the only difference is that your arm is straight and you do the same movement with the other arm. At pull time I pull my arms in, bend my knees a little, touch the handle, and expand the wings again like I mean it, re-close, and wait... Memento Audere Semper 903
  9. Been there done that. If you are the giver use lots of lube; sharks' ass is rough If you are the taker you might have the time of your life As for the big grab toggles this is not the first time I hear a similar incident. Are yours the really big ones? I have not seen your set up over the week-end. Memento Audere Semper 903
  10. As stated I like HMA continous lines. As for the lower break lines I like 400 LBS dacron due to its good abrasion properties. Memento Audere Semper 903
  11. They use HMA (technora) lines like all Precision's canopies. I don't know what kind of lower break lines they use. Precision now uses 400 LBS dacron lowers. IMO Precision's set up is the most elegant. Memento Audere Semper 903
  12. This is the roughest estimate. There are probably about 1000 active BASE jumpers worldwide. Probably the annual average is around 50 jumps hence probably 50000 jumps worldwide. Lots of probably... Memento Audere Semper 903
  13. I'll be there arriving Tuesday night in SLC. I got a room at Motel 6. If anybody is interested in sharing it gimme a buzz. Memento Audere Semper 903
  14. 3-4K due to the canopy I have on my WS. If I was just allowed to jump it with my BASE rig... Memento Audere Semper 903
  15. Do you know how far up you are able to reach? Memento Audere Semper 903
  16. I jump a S3 with a Viper 105 @ 1.64. Not the most conservative choice but it's a beautifully opening canopy. There is a lot of pilots doing WS jumps on highly loaded X-braced. I guess it comes down to what you feel comfortable with. I love the way my Viper opens and on few occasions I had line twists and it flew straight. There is one advantage in jumping HP canopy on WS: While you are unzipping, stowing, loosing up, you can steer the canopy with your legs, thing you cannot do with a lightly loaded canopy If you want to play safe make a good ten jumps with a bigger square. It's your call. Memento Audere Semper 903
  17. It's a cargo bin. http://caravan.cessna.com/ If I had the money I'd get a Porter Memento Audere Semper 903
  18. A reserve canopy is just your last canopy to fly Memento Audere Semper 903
  19. Joe's system is great. I charge 150 for mine that works differently from Joe's. Memento Audere Semper 903
  20. I did a litte math and here are the results: At full canopy flight a PC will pull with the following forces: ~ 15 LBS for a 48" ~ 13.5 LBS for a 46" ~ 11.5 LBS for a 42" ~ 9.5 LBS for a 38" ~ 6.5 LBS for a 32" That said I can only tell between a 42" and the 32" I use to for test jumping off planes. The canopy flares a bit better with the 32". Memento Audere Semper 903

    Weird mal

Do you have any more details on the jump? Any witnesses? Possible causes? Thanks. Memento Audere Semper 903
  22. This must be one of the funniest things I've ever read. Memento Audere Semper 903
  23. Based on what? DZ.com BS? Tempos are fine reseves as long as you do not overload them pass The MAX SUSP WEIGHT like many do and then they bitch about it. Go figure. I flew a Tempo 150 and I was impressed by the performence. Several at my DZ have flown Tempos and they all liked the way they flew and landed. None were overloaded. Some cannot say the same about Micro Ravens... I have two Tempos 150 @ 1.15. I cannot say a single bad thing about them. I agree that Tempos don't have the reinforcements that PDRs have. Keep in mind that the max exit weight of the Tempo 150 is much lower than the one for a PDR 143 (254 LBS). As long as you stay within PISA's limits you're fine. I would not jump a Tempo or any other reserve over the max susp weight. Memento Audere Semper 903
  24. With too much balls, too little brain, and too little info even the best mentor can't keep you from the inevitable. Just my 0.02. Memento Audere Semper 903
  25. By weight of jumper what do you mean? Are both at the same WL or the 218 is more lightly loaded? Memento Audere Semper 903
