The toggle cannot go through the ring You want leverage not additional layers... If you think about it with slider down/removed, we are not using any de-multiplying strategies; we just pile up a ring and a toggle on top of the eye via the while loop. I hope it makes some sense. How about this: The proper way to stow the brakes is LRT hence while loop (WL) into the eye of the bake line, loop into the ring, toggle into the loop. Now imagine a second white loop (2WL) that runs right below the existing one or above it. Now you pass the WL though the eye, then the ring. At this point you pass the 2WL into the normal white loop and finally the toggle into the 2WL. Can you picture the three-ring idea here? The force on the toggle itself would be greatly minimized. Dude, You've been having some bad luck with brake lines Memento Audere Semper 903

I forgot to mention that. I also know of several instances of that, again poor rigging from the manufacture stand point if you asked me. Tom, are they still being made or pretty much everybody switched to cloth type? Memento Audere Semper 903

Keep the sarcasm for yourself, that was not a personal attack on my part. So you know, the vast majority for blown toggles are due to piss poor rigging that by the way includes piss poor maintenance. I assure you that I will never have a blown toggle, really. Said that, route the brake lines in the rings and let us know how it works for ya if you obviously don't see the advantage in leaving them out. Memento Audere Semper 903

The only way to blow a toggle on slider down/removed is improper rigging (unless the line or the loop break of course). Learn this and use it: LRT. edit for spelling Memento Audere Semper 903

This is a PM I got from Clint MacBeth because Idid not know about Moab that time of the year either: So it seems nice, you don't sweat too much climbing and no winds... Memento Audere Semper 903

Wife will be gone and I'll be all alone so I decided to spend couple of weeks in Moab jumping like a mother. Probably from the 17 to the 1st or so. If you are interested please PM me. I'm clean, do not snore or stink but I might fart if I eat too much dairy Memento Audere Semper 903

Version 2.6.0 is very bugged. I have never had so many problems with any other previous versions in including Betas. I am also a FR for Alti-2 and expressed my concerns about the latest version quite few times. I know they are working on it but please if you have problems with the 2.6.0 e-mail Alti-2 being very specific what the problems are. Memento Audere Semper 903

Send pm to Abbie "cornishe" with one of your pics. If he likes it he might make the trip for free and teach ya the stuff. Memento Audere Semper 903

You gotta love the gas tanks!!! Nicely done, 30 sec of leveled flight! Memento Audere Semper 903

Not when it comes to the fines and charges but if they find out you are an "alien" (you gotta love that term) they could contact HLS (the new name of INS) and you might risk deportation... It's my understanding that a foreign jumper used this strategy to go back home when he ran out of dough. He jumped a very high profile object, got caught, and they bought him a plane ticket to home (the deportation). I think Tom knows the story in details. Memento Audere Semper 903

What did blow out, the stitching or the zippers? Memento Audere Semper 903

If you had a broken back before (like I had) a bit of bulk is the least of your worries. Besides, shaving off few pounds from your belly will make a body armor not so bad to wear I have a Velocity and wear it on all my jumps but TW and BD or terminal walls with grassy landing areas the size of Texas. Honestly the body armor doesn't feel bulky at all. One thing to keep in mind is that back protectors will do nothing against compression fractures (like when you land on your butt and vertebrae burst [my case]). They will do a lot for direct hits that are by far the most dangerous spinal cord injuries that could very easily lead to paralysis. Memento Audere Semper 903

Cuttingaway is fun...that would have been a great excuse to do it. In a situation like that I don't have to cutaway because I think I could land it safely but I would just for the fun of it. How's that for politically incorrect? Memento Audere Semper 903

BASE canopies are like a shark stomach... Memento Audere Semper 903

It's my understanding that the MAX sus. weight is the max weight used to meet the min. standards dictaded by the TSO. By operating the parachute above the MAX sus. wieght the TSO is by definition not met. I could be wrong but this is my interpretation. I guarantee you that if somebody's family sues a manufacture because their reserve have failed because it was operated above the tested parameters disctated by the TSO they won't have much of a case... Memento Audere Semper 903
-
Again it comes down to interpretation. It's my understanding that the MAX susp. weight is part of the TSO standards so violationg the TSO standards in turn is violating a FAR. Memento Audere Semper 903

So by the definition of the regulation it's a fact. Memento Audere Semper 903

I thought was the opposite, large wings start generating lift at lower airspeeds... Memento Audere Semper 903

You are stating the obvious course of action. However if I lost altitude awareness, look down and things looks awfully ugly before I know I will be under a main. When I go stowed in BASE I don't even know how the canopy gets over my head. The trowing bypasses my consciousness altogether, a good thing because if I had to think consciously I'll be dead. I've pulled the silver only twice, I doubt I'll go for it if I'm low...even though I know I might end up with two out if I am jumping an AAD... Memento Audere Semper 903

Guys 50/50 is like playing the russian roulette with 3 bullets! Think about it, the normal (one round) russian roulette is 16%! Memento Audere Semper 903

The majority of deaths are due to object strikes or low pulls however the vast majority of injuries are due to landings, interesting landings. You only get good at something if you practice a lot, it's called learning I believe. On a BASE jump I get about 5-10 sec MAX canopy ride hence 100 BASE = ~8-16 min of canopy ride, not much really. There is a subset of BASE jumpers that at the 150 skydive mark pick up BASE and stop or get uncurrent in skydiving, that will sure compromise their canopy skills. No matter what you hear canopy skills do transfer. It's much harder to land a sub 100 loaded 2.0 than a big ass 7 cell @ 0.7. The better canopy pilot you are the more chances you have to avoid injuries on landing as simple as that. Do CRW, play with your canopy a lot, do no-contact CRW with HP canopies, learn how to swoop, take down, cross wind, trash it up high, haul tandems...all those things will dramatically improve your chances of getting hurt on a BASE landing especially if you are current. I take your post with respect Nick and I did not mean to put anybody down. I just wanted to point out that someone thought he was a BASE jumper after two BDs and two jumps and the result could have been even worse than what it tured out to be. Benjamin, great job on your first two! Memento Audere Semper 903

I tried shark fucking and it was fun until one day I had a bad experience with a great white with a bad attitude. That left some bitter in my mouth so I picked up BASE BASE is the shit I do to be in the moment, the greatest moments. Memento Audere Semper 903
