Original Back Home Boogie "Marvins"
Dougjumper replied to Dougjumper's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Well, the Boogie kinda Craped out on us the weather just was not all that good. There were some jumpers and Tandems but I elected not to jump myself. Upper atmosphere was looking nasty on and off. Seems like U could get a load together and as soon as jumpers landed it started to rain. All in all was ok for some but not the usual Boogie due to this stuff. We always have fall to look forward to.Thanks Marvin...until then Skydive..Skydive..Skydive.. The glass is half full or half empty doesn't matter. Let go and have the Lord guide your path. He will take care of it all. -
It allows the slider to collapse in a manner so you can either get it out of your way...ie allow for lines to expand or to make the slider not be so loud and flap through the air while flying your canopy..etc

Aerodyne makes some stow bands that I like called superbands U might check them out. Aerodyneusa.com They have changed hands since but give them a try.

I have soft links on my rig and fly the Xaos with a double kill line slider. I have found for the most part that I can choose to either collapse my slider and leave it above the softlinks or collapse it and pull it down behind my head. I have experienced with both and prefer it to be stowed behind my head. Just dont do as one of my friends did once and stow the slider under chin..not a good idea...it reinflated partially on turn to final and scared the shit out of him...needless to say blocked his vision momentarly...he made it out ok..but shook up a bit.....scary stuff..

Yea, I pack my rig most of the time when i jump. The only time i may not pack is if im at a big ass boogie and i get tired and pay a packer. Like Quincy 2000. I never had too much problem with packers except on one occasion had a damn hard opening...other than that No..Problemo.. The glass is half full or half empty doesn't matter. Ive Demoed a few and its really what you like. Some suggestions . Make sure its a quality Company thats going to be around for a while and parts will be available. Check the rigs background safety Record TSO's etc. Compare value with price.. I personally Jump a Racer..Thats a Damn good rig despite what some may say. Also own and Jump a Javelin. I like them both they both work and perform well. Keep in mind Safety and performance #1 looks #2 and you will be alright my friend..good day... The glass is half full or half empty doesn't matter. I would follow the advice of your Aff Instructor about packing. He or she should know about the gear you have been jumping and should help you in this manner. I learned side packing when I was new and later advanced to Pro packing. Its good to know both. If you have your own gear follow the recomendations of the Main Paracute Manufacturer. Learn to be good and proficeint at both will help you in your Skydiving Career..above all..if not sure...always ask...Blue Skies... The glass is half full or half empty doesn't matter. Yea, I know what thats like..Check this out jumpers.. I was at the World Freefall Convention in 2000 and was having a Damn good time when me and a friend of mine decided to Demo some Canopys. So we happened to stumble in Aerodyne's Display tent and I said hook me up. I was gonna Demo a Diablo 120. Well, talked to the pilot and told him we wanted to open up high and play a little so he said gotta drop U guys at the race track area so other jumpers wont burn through you guys. Ok got out, checked the spot looked good exit went smooth played some, checked Alt opened by 8,000 and it was history. Opening wasnt that bad but when I looked up grabbed slider Stowed it and was going for the toggles and their aint none..I about shit...ha..ha.. boy what a trip over tons of wooded area and just couldnt get the thing to fly right so..chopped it..needless to say ...It was a trippin day..Glad my friend Dan stayed with my main I had to worry about clear landing area...whew..right in a big Ass cow pasture and cows running everywhere... thank you...my Tempo reserve..Big lesson learned check out your gear and watch them pack it correctly. No blame here except me ..just make sure main is in d-bag correctly and risors are straight to main lift web............

uh...huh..huh...This guy really like doesnt get it or something. I fly a Xaos 78 but thats just it u gotta fly it..So I think he's upside down on Canopy stuff.. Ya...done the right thing...we dont need no stinking people dying because lack of experience..on high performance canopys... The glass is half full or half empty doesn't matter. Thanks man..I,ll work on the Body position stuff..Dont like line twists that much under me Canopy..even though its the most stable flying high performance Canopy I have ever jumped under line twists..
