  5. Probably not. I left yesterday at 6pm when I figured it was going to be overcast for the remainder of the boogie. My guess is that there are still a lot of people there drinking free beer and partying until the end of the event on Monday. The most interesting incident was on Friday morning. My teammate pointed out a low reserve deployment. I saw the reserve coming out of the freebag. The guy got about 5-10 sec of canopy ride before landing. We figured it was an AAD activation. My teammate said he saw everyone else in the group (4-way?) track away and deploy. This guy was just flailing and unstable, no main deployment. The next day I heard the rest of the story. He was kicked/ stunned at break off and although the ADD fired it did not deploy his reserve, he came to and pulled his reserve handle (?!?). I can't confirm the last part is true; That sounds really strange to me. Although it was not as strange as the guy who wandered up to the NSL tent and asked us if we had a fresh cypres battery for sale. Who brings a $100 AAD battery to a boogie? I asked him if he ment a Pro-track/ Neptune battery. "No, I need a cypres battery." "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
  6. It may also mean the government owes you Social security payments. Share the wealth brother. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
  7. Read the thread in Incidents. The mind boggles. Tell me about it. Tickets were $23. The weather hold reduced ticket price was $15, no guarantee on altitude. Weather holds are always the most dangerous time for skydivers.... "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

  13. If you're setting reminders in outlook and don't have the spreadsheet handy, remember that 120 days = 17 weeks + 1 day. Or you could quickly open your excel spreadsheet and create this formula in cell B1: =A1+120 Key in any date into cell A1 and B1 will tell you the last legal day to jump that reserve. Remember to format cells A1 and B1 as "dates" "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

  19. The Parachute Manuals are directed more for the professional rigger as reference material. Volume #1 focuses mainly on older round parachute designs. Vol. #2 focuses on the 'modern' Ram air parachutes. I would recommend The Skydiver's Handbook (you can buy it @ amazon.com) as a good starting point in addition to reading the USPA SIM. In addition, try reading container and parachute manufacturer's websites like the PD website. They usually contain a product information/ FAQ page and PDF's of the owners manuals. Most of what you really need to know you can learn from the product manuals, USPA SIM, and your skydiving instructors. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
  20. Lovely. I have some Aloe Vera Gel in the fridge if you need it. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
  21. Premiere is relatively user friendly. There is a learning curve and Adobe includes a tutorial editing "job" as part of the install package. I think Premiere is easy to use and I'm not the most technically savy person. My first editing job was compiling a seasons worth of 4-way footage together for my team. I learned as I went and at each point I had a question I couldn't figure out on my own, I was able to quickly look up the answer in the help file or find it in the user guide.

  23. From the S&TA Handbook Page 3 "The Regional Director may also appoint one or more S&TAs-at-large for the entire USPA Region. Some USPA employees function as S&TAs at large and can perform S&TA duties as necessary." An S&TA-At-Large could fullfil the role if the 'local' S&TA's have had their privlidges revoked.
