    The name was officially changed from Freak Brother Convention during it's 11th year, when it moved from Freeport to Quincy (1986). That was the year with the South Africa C-130 sporting the subtle "Roger Nelson's World Skydiving Convention" on the tail. It was definitely called the World Free Fall Convention in 1990 as diverdriver said. Oct. 1990 issue of Parachutist states: "Last year, Quincy missed having what should have been the 14th annual running of a meet begun by Roger and Carl Nelson in the '70s"

Out of about 200 jumps on the canopy I've chopped it 3 times. Once was due to a known packing error though. A Diablo owner at my home dz described the canopy as "twitchy". I've heard it called a Spectre on steroids. Both comments fit.

    My harness/container has large rings - canopies that I've recently demoed came with mini-risers so from experience I can say that the combination can be successfully jumped this way - BUT - I never had to cutaway this combination. The risers separated ok on the ground though.

    Heather - you already know there are guys in the skydiving world that date. Some of the relationships have lasted for the long term, some for the short. I know for a fact that you've seen examples of each at our home dropzone. . . some successful, some not. Are you limiting yourself to only skydivers? Holidays got you down? Eric

    There's one way to make sure he's 100% certain. Tell him!! Get it out of the way before Safety Day and you'll feel much better about it. All concerned should have no problems with it.

    You think this is confusing . . . during the Vietnam war era there was a similar "ritual" called a "dap" - (definition): handshake and greeting which may last up to ten minutes and is characterized by the use of both hands and often comprised of slaps and snaps of the fingers. Used by black soldiers, highly ritualized and unit specific. Can you imagine being transferred to a different unit or base and having to learn a new one each time ! ! !
