I just thought of something. Those Legos can actually become useful in briefing missions inside the cities. You can build the communities and be able to reconstruct for different missions in no time at all. I figure TF 121 will hire some eight year old kids to get to work and . . . _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

When you are at the south pole, the only way to go an easterly direction is spin clockwise. Want to go west? spin counter-clockwise. I think. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Too many i have to agree. You are right, there is no guarantee. What complicates things is third party presence. He didn't have the upper hand. I believe the clerk had a better chance of getting other people hurt than protecting them from the robber in the first place. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Yes he did. There's one asshole risking lives for his own selfish reasons. Who know's what the other asshole was thinking. the gunman got what he deserved. No Question. I was talking about the clerk. But you are right. The gunman would not have gone in there if he thought there would be resistance. I'm not anti-second Amendment by a long shot (I own weapons), but this video shows stupidity and is only good ammo for the Amendment to novice eyes. The reason the heading of that video was positive was because nobody got hurt. That was a successful exchange by luck. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

The robber fired the shot after the clerk "telegraphed" his intentions. Personally, I would not charge the clerk if I was a judge, but that clerk was very not-subtle drawing his weapon. I think the clerk was an idiot because he was matched 1 to 1 with the gunman and put the mother and child at risk. He was stupid and very lucky. Anybody else who uses firearms in their line of work agree or disagree? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

One thing I like about Mouton (other than the fact they are cheaper than their other four Preimer brethern) is they have a different label design every year. Their 2001 label was the the most recent that I like. I made a mistake getting into the top bordeauxs and have since been on the lookout for a much cheaper alternative from California. So far, Cakebread Cellars Cabernet is quite close but with a $80 price, i'm still searching cheaper. My goal is to break $50. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

That's an interesting view that keeps surfacing. Why isn't the US ready? Baby Boomers? Possibly ten years into the next major generation too. They were raised by their parents. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Well, hours after the attack we were within visual sight. The dust and smoke plumes and other buildings made it hard to see anything when I was looking at the mess from the bridge wing's binoculars. But I don't think that even if I was anywhere near the buildings I would be able to come to the conclusion that the Govt did it based on what I have seen. Yes. Definitely. I'm not big on the Supreme being stuff and did a lot of research. I didn't go the way of bigoted theism-hating a lot of non tolerant Athiests go, but I did study. Yes. I went to College for it. You got me here. I only glanced at it. I have a blind faith in the Govt's ability to not keep a secret and screw things up on a regular basis. the report is not my pillar of truth; my experience working in, with, and for the govt is. Sure. Why not? do you simply run the stop sign because you don't believe what Govt's trying to tell you? Is the traffic safety report missing some facts Did I misspell "teh" again? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

(off subject) that's what was wrong with that particular movie. They used "common" sense. This was an engineering/science problem. If you think you can get by using standard common sense in these fields, I invite you to listen in on Billvon, Speedracer, Kallend and others when they are talking shop in their fields. Actually, what they are doing here is asking leading questions without answering themselves. It's a common tool for steering people in the right way with discussions. The movie's theme was to put blame of 9/11 on the govt. They use common distrust in central authority (I met very few people who trust the govt) as an emotional appeal to get you to think about their leading questions. Most people who bought on these movies ask the same questions that are in the movie and provide the same answers given or implied in these movies. This begs the question of which states independent thought is the best if not the most desired trait. I'll allow the question to search by saying: independent thought isn't always the best way to come to a conclusion. Sometimes the right answer comes from established common thought. (common is not always bad) And sometimes it takes dicipline in the said "established common thought" to be able to come up with thoughts "independent", therefore groundbreaking. Rarely, independent thought about diciplines without a learned "common thought" background in said area, actually produces something fruitful. To sum it up, these movie creaters have shit for brains. So: 1. I believe "independent thought" requires some sort of cognitive dicipline before you can pave your own road. If not, it's just a rediculous thought. 2. Walking down the road completely naked with a sunflower stuck up your ass is not art. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Personally, I find it fascinating. Evolution of their belief isn't really something studied by the general believers. I don't see these as a threat really. To me, religion is a mystical or magical description of social norms and interactions. I don't see a dissapearance of the Middle Class. If anything, it appears to have broaden. Now Industrial America has definitely disappeared and gone overseas, but that's progress. and it definitely isn't a defining factor of Middle Class, income is. We advanced from an era that doesn't fit in a first world's economy. Industrial manufacturing is more for emerging markets as they are the only ones who can afford it. There's a difference between run on the banks and defaulting a home loan. What's the fear in this? Is this caused by precedence from a collection of dystopia filled High School reading list? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

The last place I would expect to see "Independent thought" is one of these Internet-Movie Conspiracy theories. These producers definitely do not want you to think for yourself. They want you to think like them. They are not opening your eyes, they are narrowing (focusing) your vision. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Agreed. I've actually learned a lot here: I thought they talked about Xenu immediately, not hold that very important piece of information until you are too far into it and have nothing else. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Improving America’s Standing in the World, pt 2
nanook replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
That makes sense. Long as we are not trying to satisfy a self-esteem (community-esteem?) need versus a Policy Strategy, I can get on the Improvement of America's Standing bandwagon. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
