I always vote on stupid or lazy. Build a better fail safe device, they will build a better stupid. Inventions will never satisfy the lazy. I have a feeling I will be able to market "Smart" electricity. "My Trons will smarten up your car"You probably will have those that fear too low a charge and always have to hook up. Alway keep it max charged, just in case of . . . I kind of wonder if everyone that waits till night to charge their cars will equalize the load of the Grid. That's millions of vehicles per time zone. Those cars are guaranteed to be on of the most tron hungry plug-ins in the house. You think maybe as much as an a/c while it's charging? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

The emerging markets are the biggest cause of oil prices. China has increased oil consumption exponentially and they are going to need more. Almost five years ago, a group of us taking a Global Business class were discussing this (brought up by my want of buying a gas-guzzling beast of a truck). So far the steady increase has proven to have been on track. I figure gas prices will be up to $5 by mid next year and probably hover at 8 to 10 a gallon before india and china's needs level off. As far a speculation. . . That's very hard to point at. Everything in life in the economic world is circled by speculation. Because Southwest airlines bought gas futures, they can still make a buck now. The dollar speculated by currency dealers and the IMF. All crops are specuation. And buying a case of Chateau Haut Brion is a futures market that is pure speculation that can't be tasted for seven years at least. It works both ways, it lowers and raises prices depending on how undervalued or overvalued it is. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I've always wondered about the 100% electric cars. Questions I have: You still need to recharge it somewhere. Electricity costs. There would be a much higher need for the electicity now. Business would probably charge you for thier use at their business. Wouldn't you need alternative source of electricity generation, vice oil, before we can even consider a electrical auto society? Coal supplies around 50 percent of US electricity, nuclear about 20 percent; natural gas under 20 percent, hydro- 7 percent, oil about 2 percent. Coal 50%. . . Oil 2%. . .There's my accountancy issue. Or, also known as, I should learn to google narrower keywords. So really, it's a non-issue for oil dependence. It's just a matter of increasing demand for electricity and power outlet drops in downtown. I see a severe demand for electricians both in the auto and public works industry. The concept of gas stations will disappear as storefronts charge you to park-and-charge or morph to eloquent rest-stops-while-your-car-charges businesses on large stretch of highways. Multiple private power companies may spring up. This would change society as much as the computer did. (why are my hands suddenly doing gleeful hand-washing movements?) _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

After all this, this your motivation? Searching out for the Bully? Are you so motivated by percieved weakling beat-downs just for the sake of beat-downs that you will blanket any information (if not mine) that points to reality? High school is over. Geez, sorry you got picked on, man. Do you really think all these programs would be in place if we were here for the oil? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Nope, no evidence. Original source. You can claim your win here if you want. But if you hear about this again, remember this conversation. They were very newsworthy. It was all over the news. He's willing and has used them on people. What relevance is the source of the weaponry? We're talking capability, Intent and opportunity here _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I voted no. Mostly because of the "immediate" threat. That stuff was found during the first gulf war period and was under observation by U.N types between then and the second war. To me that stuff is evidence of his desires. It would have been more than yellow cake by now if he wasn't constantly under scrutiny/sanctions. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I am not a civillian. I wasn't at home watching tv during that period of time. I could care less if you don't believe me, but this is all you are going to get. Apparently, you were watching the news during the late 90's to early 2000's. Okay, it was evidence of his huge chemistry expierment. We also know about when he gassed the Kurds up north. I remember reading about that in Time. That's an easy search. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Between gulf wars, Iraq has been funding terrorist groups that would go after us. The Navy sent many tomahawks to various terrorist camps during this period of time. You may have seen it in some of the news. A tamahawk strike here, tamahawk strike there. . . probably wasn't too important then. He has threatened us many times. He was persuing WMD's and had the program going till we invaded. Too scary for us. We found hundreds of tons of proof. We couldn't move it till Iraq was safe enough else the convoys would have been attacked and poisoned a huge swath of communities. It may have been on the news. It wasn't declassified till the shipment left the Gulf. There's more crap, but they may still be classified. We'll just have to wait till after the war. The propaganda model at its finest. Most of what I have read on this subject in SC including your "spends more money on military than all other countries combined" is in itself propaganda of belief. It's very important to those that use them who need to believe in the "bad USA". A lot of the facts taken out of proportion, or not even related. Very simplistic and easy to see that most of these people that prepare those products don't even work in the areas and have these fantastic imaginations about what's going on. It is silly and has no substance. I cannot help you there. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Iraq was a legitimate threat we have been thwarting for quite a while. You don't have to step onto a country's soil to do damage. In fact, waiting for a country to step onto your soil for you declare war (being reactive instead of proactive) means waiting for them to kill a lot of your people that happens during an invasion. No leadership in thier right mind will ever let their country be hit first. It's their number one job. Unless you believe that the U.S. Govt allowed the bombing of Pearl harbor or that the 9/11 attacks were a result of indifference or conspiracy rather than failure/inability to sift throught the "white noise" of thousands of terrorist warnings. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I never understood that argument. What does being of legal age to enter into a contract have to do with being allowed to ingest poison? I fully support lowering the minimum legal drinking age to eighteen, or, better yet, sixteen, but I fail to see what the ability to drink has to do with the ability to serve. One has nothing to do with the other. DUH. If you can be forced to kill people you sure as fuck outta be able to legally drink or ingest any fuckin thing you want. It's a moot argument in Afghanistan or Iraq. No drinking out here whatsoever. Completely banned. This is Betty Ford on . . .er. . .near-crack. An 18 year old service member in the states isn't exactly pulling missions. In the Navy, if you are in a country where the legal limit is 18, the CO allows you to drink. Don't know about Army, though. So some that serve do drink at 18. Gotta be overseas though. Personally, I don't want people who are still in high school being able to buy alchohol. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

If it was a good breaker, that would be a true statement. Could have been bad. Thinking about it, it had to be. That whole box was only 4 months old. You can't fault that, but, that one breaker was overloaded due to a whole detached room being wired up through that one breaker along with the two AC's that it powered in our Conex. I would have had a complete CB panel for that one room alone coming from our generator. On another note it could have been worse. We have steel Conex box structures that take time to catch on fire. The tents out here though catch fire too fast. We just had a mini 4th of july out here when the Motor Pool over yonder caught fire. The FOB fire dept waited till the rounds finished cooking off before they extinguished the fire. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

An 18 year old serving does not equal to alchohol responsibility. And if anything, drinking exaberates their problems, not reward them. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

KBR is a source of fustration here. They do shoddy electrical maintenance. We experienced an electrical fire due to their workmanship. They had too much power going through a circuit breaker that appeared to me to be common sense. They also tend to barge into your chu (containerized housing units) even though you are telling them to hold on. I seriously doubt the credentials of most of their workers who are usually from third world nations. I'm not saying they can't learn the stuff, but at least have the product up to American standards. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I agree with this statement. Actually, I would like to say more of this matter: I have absolute confidence in this new batch of kids. I have also read in some areas that they may just as well be the next "greatest generation of our time". Just in the Armed service alone, i have witnessed some positive things come out of this group. They tend to do more community service. They have a lot more wealth of general knowledge that comes from never knowing a time without the Internet. I swear they work a lot harder. And most importantly, they are the most tolerable group of people ever. They question the gay ban, they don't think twice that thier boss is female or black. These kids embarrass me, sometimes. I see this both in the Navy and embedded here in the Army. I have seen the same thing among civillian friends and at the Dropzone. I guess those late "Boomers" and early "Gen-X" ers weren't such bad parents after all. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
If you are captured or a POW and get wounded as a result or during, you are entitled to the award. Therefore, you would get the award for being tortured, not for PTSD. So in a sense, yes you would get the award for being tortured (physically). _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Winning a contest that requires a lot of talking, performing and being judged in front of hundreds of peers is never an easy thing to do. Takes a lot of confidence, poise and belief in one's self. You've helped by providing the environment that allowed her to ascend to such heights. So. . .any pointers you can share to other fathers who want their daughters to have that gift? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

The first time I saw one of these toilets was during MIO ops in the Persian Gulf several years ago. They were on a lot of the Oil Tankers. The North Arabian Gulf was, for the most part, calm. But I wouldn't want to use them on the open ocean. I have enough problem using the toilets on a Destroyer when it rocks. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

True. He should have researched more. He took his candidacy to a type of media most people use for viewing cups and their innovative use by enterprising female duos. If you want to advertise, you should make it easier for others to happen upon. Make headlines on TV, for instance. People are lazy. Make the news come to them; not have them search for themselves. Don't add another step to their candidacy research. It takes several keystrokes and mouse clicks to divert from abused pottery. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
