  1. Oooo...that's just waay too tempting! I'll be there! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  2. She actually has two auctions going for the same thing. She didn't think it through very well though. Those auctions are going to cost her more than she'll probably make off them. (Listing fees/selling fees/paypal fees) BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  3. Ebay clicky You just have to know what you're buying is right for you on Ebay. Then again I've seen worse in a couple of popular gear stores. You at least expect them to have your safety in mind. Had I listened to a "sales"men at one, I would have been jumping a Diablo 150 (at 65 jumps) instead of the Spectre 150 I wanted! 4. Found it! They have their ads on their website. Click "TV Commercials" at the top then "Parashoe". At least they're original. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  5. I've seen the cell phone ad but not Skechers. Is it a commercial or print ad? BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  6. Yeah, I noticed that too. Sad thing is, I work in marketing and I know all the trouble and $$$ these companies put into their advertising. Yet this is what they come up with. At least its kind of a a subliminal ad for skydiving. Oh Ivan, I can't believe you haven't been to the DZ lately. Nothing like warm weather to bring out the Jersey girls! For those not in the Philly area, they would be the girls wearing a tube top, miniskirt and 5" spike heels! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  7. I had to look twice when I realized I was looking at a bunch of skydivers in a Kmart ad! Not near as corny or lame as some others but at least its skydiving. "Jump into the picture with great savings!" The photo is attached too if the link doesn't work. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!

    Elbow Pain

My BF has been complaining of the same thing. He's a FT packer and his right elbow has been hurting too. He rarely takes anything for it. (mostly just whines and complains which must make it feel better because he does a lot of it! ) I guess its something like tennis elbow? You are using your arm to do the same repetitive thing all day. What do people do to relieve that? Sorry, I suck at tennis (& packing) so I wouldn’t know. BettyAnn Getting married? 9. I second Cross Keys. Its a great DZ with lots going on all the time. Your choice of aircraft too. (Skyvan, Otter, Biplane, Chopper, etc) Here are a few examples of the lineup for August: Aug 1 MonkeyClaw end of Round 3 Cross Keys Freefly Competition Aug 7-8 MonkeyClaw Crossover Weekend Aug 14-15 MonkeyClaw Skills Camp #4 Aug 20-22 Hybrid Weekend Aug 28 MonkeyClaw Swoop Club #3 Pick a week, there's always something fun going on and lots of people to jump with! 10. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to ask that! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  11. Hmm...what's the wedding date again? I've been looking for somewhere warm for vacation. That lodge is amazing! I'd fly out to TX just to stay there! Gotta love a secluded cabin in the country with a 2 person jacuzzi! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  12. So I guess you are a "I have no interest in a non-traditional wedding" person. I'm not excluding the traditional wedding people, those are easier to find. I'm just looking for the interest level in something a little different. Personally I'd go for a traditional but with a skydiving theme like you did. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  13. I think the $200 fees are crazy! (Unless of course you want me to fly to another state or something.) I had friends trying to get married cheap and simple and they ended up just doing the JOP but weren't really happy with it. Things like that inspired me to do this. I'm fine with just covering my slot. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  14. Since getting married has been a subject lately both here and at my home DZ, maybe you can help me? I am a new minister and would like to offer my services to have skydiving, hot air balloon, etc weddings or vow renewals. I’ve heard plenty of people talk about it but I’m curious as to how much interest there really is. I’ll do traditional (on the ground) weddings too if they insist. (Officiants for hire in my area cost around $150-$200 just to do a ceremony and that's on the ground!) Take a second and check a little box in my poll above. There should be a choice for everyone. Any ideas or tips? Thanks!! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  15. Hey, great shots! Thanks for sharing! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  16. Well it is for me. I spent way too much time sitting under a 288 manta as a 120lb student and that meant being taken for a ride more than flying the canopy. Granted, I've learned a little more about how to fly that thing since then but I'd still rather be jumping my 150 than a 288 for many reasons. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  17. The problem I still see is that the people who go along with all of this testing and regulation are the ones who would have been jumping a canopy sized right for them in the first place. The people who are going against advice and jumping canopies too small are still going to do it. Back to cars...I have to get mine inspected every year and I do it but the people who have cars that wouldn't pass inspection find ways to get around it and still drive anyway. Education is fine and I would have loved to have taken Scott Miller or Heath's class as a student or right after so I would have known more right from the start. Problem is, unless that is included in the student jump program many of us wouldn't be able to afford it. Besides that's its optional and there's no pass/fail it remains fun and people learn more when its enjoyable then when its a test. What if I were to "fail" the test that is being proposed? Would I be told that I couldn't jump my own canopy? I would then have to pay for a rental until I was "allowed" to jump my own gear? How many F-U's do you think we'd hear on that? 18. I can go from a old 1970's station wagon to a brand new sports car and no one asks if I can handle driving it. One would fall apart over 80mph the other obviously a lot faster. They accelerate differently as well as brake and corners are a whole new world. As I said, I'm horrible with "tests" so no, I wouldn't want to down size which means I would have been stuck jumping a 200+ canopy until I got tired of backing up with a slight breeze and got bored of being under canopy forever and probably quit. I know this is an ongoing debate but I just can't see that the answer to the problem of people getting in over their heads is to make everyone have to take tests constantly. The people who really want to jump those canopies will still find a way to do it, the same as they do now. Buy from online instead of a gear store, borrow from friends, fake jump numbers to demo gear, etc. Things like this would keep more conservative jumpers from progressing normally. I'm all for safety but I can't stand being regulated for every move I make. I skydive because it is a small chance at freedom from a very hectic/controlled life. If I jumped something I couldn't handle and got hurt its my own fault. I made a conscious decision to do it and I get to suffer the consequences. It’s not like someone else strapped it on me and pushed me out. Maybe it sounds selfish but I just think people should sometimes be allowed to get hurt if that's the only way for them to learn. It’s just a shame the DZ takes the heat. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  19. To apply the same idea to driving a car, since you mentioned it... Are you prepared to go re-take a driver's test for each new car you buy? Including the COST of the test and driver's ed for that car? Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? People would get pissed and find ways around it. It’s the same in skydiving except that we drive as a way to get around, we skydive because we love it and its a FUN thing to do. Personally I hate tests. The main reason I took the A license test is because of the limits put on those who are unlicensed. If I had to take a test for each canopy I have jumped and plan to jump I would get sick of it very quickly. I understand wanting people to be safe but you can only regulate so much before you take all the enjoyment out of it. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  20. Thanks for the great ideas! Florida was actually my first thought. (Well ok, besides the big all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean but that’s a little much for right now) Since we can't go anywhere all summer at least FL is nice and warm and there are plenty of DZs to choose from and lots to do. I had to actually look up Lake Tahoe because I didn't even know for sure where it was! (What’s the difference between South & North?) There is plenty to do and really nice cozy rooms/cabins but how cold is it that time of year? I lived in TX for a while but otherwise I've been pretty much on the East Coast my whole life, I really don’t know much on the other half of the US. I’m loving the Spa ideas and he’ll deny it but I bet he’d like them too! I was even thinking of maybe a Cruise but I keep hearing bad reviews of them. So…we're going Sept/Oct for a long weekend 4/5 days. We're NOT taking the kids. (I know, I’m horrible but its been 3 years and I need some adult only time!) I need somewhere we can have a little alone time but with other things to do (cause I don't know if I can handle 5 days of just the two of us! ) I feel like a kid in a toy store…so many places to choose from I don’t know which to pick! 21. in the USA, where would you go and why? I'm trying to get ideas for a vacation spot and I just don't know where to go! (I haven't taken one since my 3 yr old twins were born!) My boyfriend works at the DZ so even though I started out thinking of DZs to visit maybe we should take a break from the DZ or at least find a place near one but with other things to do? I want to relax but have things to do/see if we want to. Oh, we're looking to go around Sept/Oct. Thanks!! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  22. Hi, I don't know if we've met yet but I jump at CK too. I also just bought a canopy from someone across the country a short while ago that was probably my most frustrating experience yet! Click here to see. Don't ask, TELL this person that they need to ship the gear directly to Kruse (A highly qualified and well known rigger) and you will send him the money only after it is inspected and ok'd. This is a perfectly normal and widely accepted way of buying gear from someone. This person is already making this transaction harder than it needs to be. Waiting for the cypres maintenance, ok. Trying to figure out what gear he is actually selling you and him disappearing just tells you that he is not very bright or considerate. Getting the reserve repacked was a waste of time and money (Which he will probably try to charge you for) because Kruse is going to take it right back out to inspect it and it will get repacked again. Pointless extra handling of your reserve. You said "Normally I wouldn’t distrust an online transaction like this" Why? The way he is acting, you have every right to be skeptical! Don't make the mistake I did. DO NOT send $ before having the gear looked over. (I had already sent $500 before finding out the canopy had a hole in it and was missing the slinks…an extra $75 for me!!) If he refuses to work with you this way then tell him to forget it. There will always be more gear for sale! Good Luck! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!

    CSI

I already OWN season 1, 2 and 3! I absolutely LOVE CSI!! Its called EBAY hun! I had season 3 before I could even find it in stores and when it did come out I had paid about half price for it. Brand new in the wrapper and it is a real American version, not that import crap. Much better than renting & returning DVD's. You can always re-sell back on Ebay when you're done watching. 24. I took his class a few weeks ago here at Cross Keys (With Heath Richardson co-teaching!) I haven't been standing up landings since my knee surgery last Summer but now I am! My first jump of his course was such a nice landing I was all giggly! I recommend it to everyone! BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
  25. Actually yes. Trying to get? What happened? He said he was having problems with other deals. ??? (I think I know WHO the problem is though!) PM me if you want to chat. I don't want to put personal details about who the guy is on here. (Even if I am still pissed that he thinks I should pay for the dang links!) BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
