-What do you do if the second one does not open?- As children, thats what my brother and I would ask my dad when talking about his paratrooper days. He would always respond..."go back up to the plane and get a new one" I'm glad to say we knew he was joking.

Looking at those photos reminds me of my dad's Fort Bragg 82nd scrap book from 1961. Although his chutes didn't have all those "holes" in them. -
How have most of you improved or tried to improve your (RW) freefall skills? Coach jobs? Skydive University? Wind tunnel? Practicing specific maneuvers? Just participating in any jump that comes along and hoping for the best? What have you found that helps you achieve your goals? Thanks.

Tis a role we did not volunteer for but was forced upon us. After this terrorism war is over, anyone in favor of the USA finally coming home (ballistic missile defense system in place) and just flippin the bird to the rest of the world? (Britain and Spain can still sleep over)!

God Bless them. As far as I'm concerned the soldiers in the gulf at this moment are the most important U.S. soldiers in American history. (funny how the world approves of the U.S. going to war for other countries but when we must defend our home land, all hell breaks lose.) If 9-11 has not changed your view of the world...well...good luck.

I've tried that once but found I had to pluck my ass after.

I made my first tandem jump in Sept 2000, and spent all of the winter pouring over malfunctions, fatalities etc. I was scared BEEPless!I wrestled with the very idea and why the hell I would do this. In the spring I did another tandem and AFF. Being a student scared the BEEP out of me. I'd read where a fellow AFF burned in and freak out. I came very close to quitting because of fear. I noticed as I gained more control it became fun. However, it wasn't until about 25 jumps that I could really relax on the way to altitude. The levels they talk about in this sport are very true and I have much to discover. It is still a little anxious during jumps but I no longer look at other jumpers as super human as I did as a student.

I have an RSL and began wondering the same thing. I like how those that live here tell you to do a search. As if everyone that WAS here left ALL the input you will ever need to know about that subject! New members will never get to comment on the RSL.I still don't know weather to keep it or get rid of it. But I do know that I have read about more fatalities where one would have helped rather than have been a problem.

I've had malfunction dreams with ground rush. When I was very young (8 years old or so), I had these dreams where I would jump off a cliff and would never hit the ground, I would just track forever. When I went through AFF and started tracking that view of the earth reminded me of those dreams. Perhaps base jumping is in my future.

I flew last September on Delta with a plane change in Atlanta and had no problem at all. However, they hovered over my wife's garage door opener on her key chain. In Atlanta I was singled out for a security check, I thought "oh great". When I opened my gear bag the security chick said "oh you have another back pack in here" Well I explained it was a parachute system and expected her to make me open the main and reserve. The conversation then drifted to skydiving and how she "always wanted to try that". Gear bag zipped up and I'm on my way.
