the toggle gets loose durgin freefall, what would you do?
Unutsch replied to Unutsch's topic in Safety and Training
well, i thought so... but at the moment it was the only solution for me... since i olny once gave such a situation a thought before, and at that time it seemed to me the best to open the reserve immediately... well, thank god i learned from it the "easy" way (not taking into the account the lost freebag and a really speedy opening Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org -

Unutsch replied to Unutsch's topic in Safety and Training
yp, it happened to me... there i was on a solo jump learning HD, and at some 2000 meters i noticed my riser cover got opened... no biggy, everything seemed allright... so i continue my freefall in the box and start looking where the guy who jumped before me is, as something started slapping me on my helmet... i took a second look, and saw that my left toggle wasn't in it's place anymore, it was unhooked and was flying around like crazy... by this time i was at some 1600 meters, so i grabbed it and decided to open my reserve... well, it didn't opened fast, but SUPER FAST... but i was prepared, and didn't got hurt... and now, i sit here wondering if it would be better to open my main, regardless the unset toggle... it's a Ace 100, loaded at 1,6...??? what do you all thinkg??? p.s.: i lost my freebag Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org -
well, i've made a bit more drastic transition (from a Raider 220 to Ace 100 @ 1.6), with some 150 jumps under my belt... i know it may look stupid to someone, but i am still alive with no injuries and can post a reply with some advice for your friend... the most important advice comes from one of my instructors: the landing starts the same moment your canopy opens... the other are: - take it easy, and then when you think you're on the safe side, take it even more easy; - he should learn all there is about flat turns... - and he should never forget how fragile human bones are have fun and stay safe

Parafoil Design for FS-2004 flight sim fans
Unutsch replied to swarley's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
and i thought it is the accuracy canopy... but i'll try it anyway, since i've got really bored simulating i'm a pilot for skydivers with the Cessna Caravan... Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org -
yep, the chaos theory sums it up quite adequately and besides, like already said: shit happens, and if you're going to become a full time packer, it will eventually come in even bigger loads... just make sure you do everything right

i'll reply myself: do a search on the forums, it's been discussed here a lot of times, STUPID Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org

is here anyone jumping it? any features you like? and you don't? i'm kind off looking into buying it, and can't actually decide between the TRV25 (or 60, if i get the money) and the HC 30 or 40... thank you

what? they can be a lot of fun!! especially right after opening, when only one cell has caught air... then's the time to pull down the stearing lines as far as they go Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org

Rear Riser Swoop did not go as planned-- OUCH!!!
Unutsch replied to namdrib's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Be careful the edge at where you stall the canopy is much sharper with rear risers than with control lines. Try it up high several times before, have fun and be careful. wow, george, thank you for your words of wisdom ehm, since when have you become so caring? anyway, i guess my post should have said that "i am considering to try some rear-riser landings in the future", which i really am... i'll also learn to do them at a very slow pace, with as many tries up high as possible... so, george, don't worry... but hey, if i do slammmmm, wtf, just take is as natural selection Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org -
very, VERY nice!!

Rear Riser Swoop did not go as planned-- OUCH!!!
Unutsch replied to namdrib's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
hehe, not tending to hi-jack the thread, but the same thing is written in the todays article: Ten things that may keep you alive... know your boundries, and gently push them forward... anyway, i'm glad to see you are OK, and am very thankfull for this thread, for i too am considering to try some rear-riser landings safe and long swoops -

I think that sums up a balloon jump.

same here... and i don't think there can be an excuse for that (no matter how good of a philosopher someone trying to apologize such horrors may be)... it's plane sick, just as the whole anti-terror war is... Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org

yep, and it even works... i do just the same... since i ain't got no laptop, i give the passengers a VHS tape for a reasonal amount of money, which includes a 3 minutes intro (pre-dubbed) and their jump (mixed with music from a portable CD player the way you described it).... but if they wan't a SVCD, they can get it, no problem, but in (max) 3 weeks time with addtional payment.... Skydive just to swoop. You too?
Unutsch replied to LawnDart21's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i like everything: the skydive, the opening, the landing (e.g. i'm not going to call it the swoop, 'cause it's not always the swoop ;-)) but i don't try to hard to make a swoop when i'm doing freefall jumps, i prefere to do the swoops when doing hop'n'pops from 800 meters... it's just much safer...
