  1. i use an old altimeter, wrist mount... and for me all altimeters are alike, as long as they work... but i think no buying a new one, for mounting on my chest strap... i believe they're better for freeflying... although, here in Maribor, students us those, and every experienced skydiver who uses it, get's laughed at by the students... immature kids... 4. hi there! i jumped a borrowed atom 000 (parachute de france) with a pull out last winter ---> and i definetely won't buy it on my next rig!! why? cause it was winter (at 3.000m we had -18°C) and i had my skiing gloves on (stupid me... but i tried it out on the ground, and it felt ok...), which made it impossible for me to pull out the handle on my first jump with the rig... and as i was getting lower and lower (I LIKE THAT GROUND RUSH) i finally decided to give it one last try before dumping my reserve: i grabbed it with my left (!!!!) hand, pulled it out, and somehow managed to give it into my right hand and throw it away (strange, i didn't go headdown)... i actually didn't have time to check my Altimeter how low i was, cause the rig had an Impulse 95 (sold in the states as the Alpha) installed which i hadn't jumped before, so i 100% concentrated on the landing... it went ok, landed just some 400m away from the DZ, but would i opened it at 800m, i'd have enough time to play around with it oh, as i swooped, i flew exactly over a rabbit - damn did he run fast!!! and later on, i jumped with a friend's catcher gloves, almost got frostbite!!!!! 5. yeah man, that's sad but true... and not long ago, minors had to work from as early as 6 years of age to support their famillies, not only in less developed countries, but also in Europe and the States... and this is still happening, and the way i see it, it will continue to happen as long as our motherfucking (i really hate them for that) leaders will rather spend the tax payer's money on armor and other military shit, as on helping people that need help. 10. maybe is't only me, but this forum (not just the forum, but the whole skydiving comunitiy) looks to me as one big "comunistic" family everyone is willing to help, share his experience and knowledge! (of course, there are also some idiots (who knows, maybe i'm one of them!), but so are everywhere) like homer simpson said: in theory even comunism works! 11. QuoteJust Curious. This is mainly directed to you guys who have not jumped yet. 1. What are you thoughts on base jumping?? (i.e. scares you to death, can't wait to do it, etc.) ------------------- i'll do it eventually, but right now, i have this mixed feeling, being scared to death at one time, and the other time i would go and jump with my tempo 120 sqft reserve from a 70m building... 2. Does this forum affect your feeling toward you base jumping and why? (i.e. do you want to do it now from stuff you have read or not do it now) ----------------- it's nice to read about stuff i don't have a clue... KEEP ON POSTING!!!! 3. If you do want to jump, how many jumps (just a guess) do you think you will have when you will be ready to jump and has this forum affected that number? Has it cuased the number to be higher or lower and why? --------------------- i guess somewhere between 1000 and 2000, and i never really thought about that 4. Hypothetical- If you made a couple of jumps with a experienced jumper or attended a fjc, would you be comfortable continuing your jumping on your own, with just the information from here or Blinc? -------------- hard to say.... i'd probably tend to go basejumping with someone more experienced, but if i would go with someone on the same level as me, than this would 100% be someone i really know and trust Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org
  12. i really can't help i hope you wan't mind this post, i'll use it to unload a part of my frustration with premiere 6.5: it wan't play all of my .avi clips, imported via firewire!!! and if i change my video driver, it plays some it didn't play before, and guess what, it wont play those, that played before!!!! f?*?' eagrjk ebro and we all know about those bitfucking lines when final video is exported... damn adobe!!!!! 13. ehm, i'm no expert, but i believe this depends on the size of your harness, and also (but not in such a bigway) how tight you wear your legstraps. i'm sure someone who knows about that will post something more reasonable and undestandable Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org
  14. well, i never lost this feeling (and in a strange way, i hope i'll never do ), i got used to it. and it actually helps me stay concentrated, it helps me remember every possible emergency procedure, it helps me stay focused... if only i could tell you how nervous (not frightened, nervous) i am on my first jump after a longer period of not jumping... but then, on the 2nd jump, i know exactly that that's what i want to do, where i want to be! 20. hehe, it's an awesome feeling! 'cause it really sucks to be a newbie for such a long time... well, ok, it is usefull to learn and discover, but it's much cooler to be an enthusiast!!!! when comes the time when you don't care about the status anymore? 22. ok, seriously now, this happened 2 times to me this year (but i only made 96 jumps.... hope to make some this weekend or on the new years boogie in Vrsar (I want to make 100 jumps/year!!!!!!), and checking your profile said nothing to me: so please state your nr. of jumps, current canopy, wingloading (the usual stuff)... i'm just currious Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org
  23. i was just reading the post "the cuttest newbie ever" and it's replies and it made me wonder: how old - young must one be, to start skydiving legally in USA? those replies really confused me here in Slovenia, everyone that makes the medical exam can start jumping by the age of 16, but his/her parrents must sign for him (mine did, LOVE 'EM!!!) Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org
