Noise complaints, from Cessna jumpships at 10k??
PiLFy replied to 377's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Rumor has it they can hear those engines all the way in Longmont... -

Full face helmet okay for beginner jumper?
PiLFy replied to seanhindzinger's topic in Gear and Rigging
I don't think any instructor will let you jump a full face as a student. They limit your visibility, & the instructor's ability to see your eyes. Don't like the wind blasting up your nostrils? Nothing wrong w/that. Was it cold where you jumped? You may grow to like the sensation. If not? Lots of people jump w/a full face helmet. If you hated the wind blowing on any part of you. I think you would've said that, & not pursued this sport. Good Luck in AFF -
Wait to be taught by your instructors. Have fun. Please stop yelling at us...

Rebellious parents? Yeah, they can wear on ya. Take away their Internet connection & flat screen TV for a week. That'll learn 'em...

Hi, I do like mustard. I'm sorry about your back. As a number of serious replies here have already said. Go get checked out BEFORE you jump again. You could do serious damage, otherwise. You should see either a Physiatrist, or an Orthopaedist. I would chose a Physiatrist. I know it's frustrating as Hell for you, but don't be stupid. The sky really isn't going anywhere. Good Luck.

Meh... A SkyMama on Mamma's Day. Oh, the irony...

I agree w/DougH. Do it now. You won't have the freedom to do it later. I used to drive tractor trailers cross country before college. I recommend you work your way down the I-95 corridor. Then, come across on 40/20/10. Whichever of the three gets you to various DZs along the way out west. Have fun, & take a really good shower before you leave .

Grimmie is a lot better versed in first-responder things. It's just plain wrong for your fellow jumpers to put their heads in the sand over this. It could be them wreathing in agony on the ground one day.
-
Do you have some equivalent to the Good Samaritan laws over there? Forty five minutes is a looong time.
-
You list your home DZ as Deland. Have your instructors not mentioned this: http://skydiveu.com/pricing.php? An AFF jump costs you about $180. A minute in the tunnel only costs $22.50... Lots of people struggle w/AFF levels. You'll get through it, too.

Noise levels and noise protection in skydiving
PiLFy replied to Skyper's topic in Safety and Training
An interesting article. I remember an earlier thread where another audiologist came up w/130db in freefall. -
This post needs the video. Veni, Vidi, Vici... So, what's the problem? Get back on the horse.

Were it me? I'd get the green light from my Cardiologist. He may want a surveillance stress test before clearing you. He'll probably need some educating about what it's like. Best of Luck to you.

Broken ankle on a bad landing. Need reading materials in down time.
PiLFy replied to Kipu's topic in Safety and Training
Not an expert. Find out what medicare reimburses for the same treatment you received, and then start by offering them about 70% of that. What everyone else said. The hospitals don't like deadbeats but most will work with you if you work with them. -
"Tandem student to Instructor: do they always make the old people wear oxygen when they're skydiving?" That's not true. Is it, Twardo?
-
"by eating only fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans," There goes the ride to altitude...
-
No one here knows how much damage was done last July. Your Cardiologist knows. Ask him.
-
Send it back, & have them do it right. I know a few people who have had theirs refurbished.
-
It shouldn't be hanging up. Galaxies are great. That's why they've been around for 50+ years. Did you buy it new? It will be fixed under warranty. If it's used. You can still send it back to Alti2. They'll completely refurbish it for about $65.

You mean like this: http://www.chutingstar.com/newgear_en/wrist-mount-velcro-strap.html Or, was it a neoprene wrap?

Limit this to personal experience? OK. My Optima's batteries are supposed to last for years or hundreds of jumps. I did only a few jumps over the winter months. Yet, the cold killed the batteries. It only has about 70 jumps, & less than a year on it.
