Event Date Host FSL 2003 Season Opener 01/18/2003 Skydive Sebastian FSL Season Meet 2 02/22/2003 Skydive Lake Wales FSL 3 Shamrock Showdown 2003 03/15/2003 Skydive DeLand FSL Season Meet 4 04/26/2003 Skydive DeLand FSL Season Meet 5 05/24/2003 Skydive City FSL Season Meet 6 06/28/2003 Skydive DeLand FSL Season Meet 7 07/26/2003 Skydive Space Center FSL Championship 2003 08/23/2003 Skydive DeLand That is the current schedule for the FSL meets. I don't believe it's a big money making thing for anyone in particular regarding the location of the meets. I believe its because of all the teams that currently train at SD Deland. It just seems to make it MOST convenient for most teams to go there instead. Is it fair to the other dzs? Depends. The whole thing about the NSL going to different dzs was based on the dz having a 4-way team. If the dz did not have a 4-way team, they did not host an FSL meet. BUT, i remember competing at Pahokee last year and it was a riot!! One team didn't even belly fly and they competed. that was awesome!! I think they should've won just because they had the balls to enter it. :) Their name escapes me, but they rocked!! I think they even got 1 or 2 points on one of the dives. :) I personally think that SD deland has a great environment for 4-way. they have several mock-ups, they have more than 1 creeping area, and it works pretty efficiently. Kurt really does bust his ass to make the NSL work. If you guys think he's making money hand over fist, you're wayyyyyyyy off base. Kurt runs that entire thing ALONE. He IS the NSL. If people want to help make it better, then maybe volunteer to help him out a bit. he could surely use it. So my guess is that the meets being held at SDD is a matter of efficiency, not $$. I don't think it's a matter of the dz "not allowing" their teams to compete elsewhere. on that note, good luck to all the teams that will be competing at the Shamrock Showdown this weekend. There are some nice prizes from what i can tell. blues, arlo

My Michigan suits rock. He's also making some kick-ass tunnel suits as well. Mike knows his shit and makes an outstanding product... blues, arlo

I concur. Juliana and Fabian are artists in the tunnel...absolutely OFF THE HOOK! They are so incredibly fluid in their motion that their flight will leave you amazed. Too, the feedback from the folks that are coached by J&F has always been positive. Oh yeah, they did win the tunnel competition on Saturday...and that was a vote by their fellow competitors...and Juliana won the solo competition. blues, arlo

I remember that quite well...it was on a sunday afternoon....

Some folks work in a chow hall, some clean, some push paperwork. they are ALL serving our country. Who's to define "serving our country"? Don't think for a second that they wouldn't be shipped out somewhere to work on tanks or helicopters on any given day. Why must people feel the envious urge to knock them? Maybe it's because they are fucking outstanding skydivers in addition to outstanding military folks... Long live the GKs... arlo

www.sidestep.com. it actually takes you to the airline specific website, but the search engine is outstanding and easy to use. Always compare whichever you're using to expedia or travelocity. Most of the time the prices are close, but on 1 or 2 occasions, one has been significantly less than the other. Too, I've found that 3rd party bookings on Delta using expedia result in loss of e-ticket option...paper ticket only. This has occured at least 2 or 3 times when i've booked for someone else. if you want someone to 'double check' some prices for ya, shoot me an email and i'll see what i can find based on the destinations and days. also, if your dates are even the slightest bit flexible, try changing the dates of flight to tues or sat. some days are cheaper than others. :) hope that helps, arlo

I just got this bulletin from Birdman! Just thought you guys would like to know what's new out there. I've seen the swatches and the new colors are awesome (the aluminized silver rocks!). PM me if you have any questions.... arlo ----- New Fabric / New Colors We no longer offer Balloon ZP or Atmotex. We now only offer one type of fabric for every model of BirdMan suit - BM Nylon. Basically, it a very durable type of zero porosity Nylon that has a UV inhibitor impregnated in to the fabric. It is very similar to Balloon ZP but it's a tiny bit thicker. It is not nearly as thick as Atmotex, though. We are making both the body and the wings from this one fabric. In changing fabric type, we can now offer a wider variety of colors. (Yahoo!) The wings and/or body of all BirdMan suits can now be in the following colors: Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Teal, Red, Gold, Hunter Green, Yellow, Purple, White, Neon Green, Turquoise, Black, Orange, Raspberry, Aluminized Silver.

the website is under construction. there is NO construction related to any Skyventure windtunnel in NJ at this time. hope that clears things up for now... arlo

yes. Apparently, there's been a slight 'glitch' with the configuration on the SA side of Aerodyne. If you use the old (insert name here)(at)pisa(dot)co(dot)za format, it should work...at least I got thru. :) too, my guess is that they are still bombarded with stuff from symposium and are still playing catch-up...as are most of the manufacturers that i know. fyi, arlo

Hey guys- keep in mind that this is a new website for Skyventure and all the info is still being tweeked. NJ is in the future (at least it is today) but as TomBuch said, big difference between "under construction" and "under development..." If you check out the one for Colorado (which IS going to happen, BTW) there are pics on the website of people flying in the tunnel and also a map to the location....even though ground has yet to be broken. :) They're understandably anxious to get it up and running. hope this (off the record) answers some questions....and that's all i got to say about that. blues, arlo

:) alot of people freefly in the Skyventure tunnel. As Andrea said, there is an approved curriculum that is used to teach people how to freefly in the tunnel. Once you've shown you meet certain criteria, you can progress to doing headdown. Unless you're about 90 pounds, you won't be doing sustained headdown. Carving is done in the tunnel all the time, but by people that have hours upon hours in the tunnel. If you're around the 22nd of this month, you should check us out. There is a tunnel competition which should be pretty bad-ass. If you have any more ??, call me at the tunnel. 1-800-skyfun1. I will talk to you about it as much as I can unless it gets crazy busy, then all bets are off. any opinions given are mine and not Skyventures. arlo

Actually, a few of us just saw this movie on Sunday in Orlando at the Science Center. They are having trial runs and are asking for surveys to be filled out to help them decide if this movie should be a "regular"...I guess like the cave movie, dolphins, and stuff. FWIW, this movie is fucking outstanding!!!! The BASE footage from Norway is absolutely phenomenal and the freeflying rocks! I don't believe Adrian Nicholas (who basically stars in the movie) nor the guys from Freefly Training Center (Swanson, Dave, etc...who are also in the movie) have seen it. There is some absolutely BAD ASS stuff in this movie!!!!! Just watching skydiving at the IMAX theatre was awesome in itself, but watching this stuff was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this movie. It leads to Adrian Nicholas's attempt to fly the canopy that da Vinci designed 400+ years ago (the one shaped like a pyramid). We found out it was playing a day and a half before the last show...it was only here last friday, saturday, and sunday. arlo

why aren't wingsuits made with a larger surface area?

as a US citizen, I don't necessarily agree with everything our gov't does, but I surely will stand up to ANYONE that knocks our country as a whole...morals and all. I'm sorry that people can't get along in this world and blah blah blah, but i honestly could give a rat's ass how other countries view us. I've heard that people in other countries think George W is an idiot. Well guess what? So do alot of Americans! But we have an option. We can get the hell out. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I DO take it personally when the USA (me being part of that) is slammed. My recommendation is that if people don't like what we do, then don't buy our products, don't visit our country, and leave it if you're here. I'm terribly sorry for this being harsh because I'm usually pretty neutral in these types of matters, but I am a citizen of this country and proud to be one. I believe in solidarity and i am deeply proud of the men and women that protect our freedoms. blues and hopes of peace, arlo

If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea...does that mean that one enjoys it? the anal retentive one does. 3. Baptists do not recognize each other in the liquor store or at Hooters.
