  1. Is this urge somehow linked to an old post, in which you asked if it was okay to just shoot annoying coworkers? Does "go shoot" mean "go postal" or just target practice at a range? "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk

  3. Am I IT, if my job title is Computer Network Technologist? We used to be called Programmer/Analysts. I work in academia, so I don't make enough to support my habit. I have to pack. "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk
  4. a thread regarding replacements I haven't experienced a riser slap and I sometimes have a big PC1 on my helmet. Is yoke size a factor? I mean where the risers sit on the shoulders (close to the neck or out further apart). Anyone know? "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk
  5. Did your ProTrack come with the 2 black bands to secure them in the external mount? Were they on? "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk
  6. This was in the last "News at Performance Designs" email (V3 Issue 4 Oct 2005) . Perhaps it might be of help? I must not have the right plugins, because I can't see the video, so I may be way wrong, but I would suspect your end cells are not inflating evenly or may be not at all, so "erratic/squirrelly/diving/turning/scay openings" might result. 7. Beware, it is actually 45 minutes from Santa Barbara. It is in Lompoc, within Santa Barbara County. However the drive from Santa Barbara is quite nice. Half is along the coast on the 101, then rolling hills along highway 1 to Lompoc. There is no traffic to worry about. They have a 206 and 208. This place bangs out tandems. Some of the staff have not been to a real DZ where two otters are turning with fun jumpers. Their mission is geared towards keeping tandems and instructors happy. When the fog retreats completely, the view is spectacular. There is pacific ocean to the west and south. To the south the Channel Islands are often visible. Usually we fly out over Surf Beach on the way to altitude. Lompoc is know for it's flower farming - summer times is especially colorful from the air. I also keep an eye out for soaring red tail hawks over the groves. The landing area is beside the airport. There is an experienced area which is a pea pit in hard packed dirt or the dry river bed which is wide, sandy, and forgiving. The winds are usually strong, but very uniform in direction- straight off the ocean (from the west). It can be challenging place to learn because of morning fog. There is a often only a narrow window of time before the winds pick up and the students are "winded". It is highly encouraged that you knock off as many student jumps as you can, when the conditions are suitable. Persistence pays off. I don't mean to imply it is always windy, often conditions are ideal, I guess I just empathize with the poor students that spend time on the ground, I try to give them a SIM to study, but a DZ can be a hard place to study. Several people on the staff are riggers so it is quite easy to stay in date. There is great Thai, Mongolian BBQ, Mexican, and pizza nearby. In town there are lots of wall murals/paintings. There is a mission with long windy hiking trails. Access to the beach is limited certain times of year because of a endangered bird (snowy plover). Summer time temperatures are actually quite nice, similar to Santa Barbara, because of the influence of a marine layer. Often this can be noticed on canopy at about 1500ft, you feel the air get cooler and moist. Winter is chilly, but worth it for the view. The ocean, green hills, clouds, and snowy mountains on the horizon.
  8. I don't know if this would interest any west coast people, or if the weather will cooperate, but... mission status viewing info Rocket info Unfortunatly the DZ (Skydive Santa Barbara) is closed on wednesdays. "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk
  9. I'm going to respect the surgeon's orders. If I compounded my current injury, I fear the HMO would not cover my medical expenses. My income is not from jumping. "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk

  14. Directly with Bonehead. I just looked at the page and it says you can't purchase Goldmembers, Cutaway kits, or flat-top retro kits anymore. So I got lucky. Since they give no change or credit these small items pad out the order. "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk

  16. Can't go wrong, if you can wait. I got two and cashed them in. The bonds are transferable too. I think for $200 I got a Guner, goldmember, a topper for my mindwarp, a cutaway mod, and an altimount. "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk

  18. Thanks for the answer. >The FAA comments regarding the NPRM were included in the Federal Register on April 13, 1999 and May 9, 2001. These are only proposed rules or have they incorporated into the FAR? ooops you answered that. You said your comments were incorporated into the final rule regarding supervision.
  19. Does getting your ticket make you responsible for other packers' work? I was told by several riggers that, if I am the only person in a packing area with a certificate, then I am responsible for directly supervising all the non-rigger's pack jobs. Please tell me it isn't true. I paid a lot of money to "legitamize" my packing, now I find out it makes me liable for others who haven't. 20. damn. A jumper from my DZ (who just turned 21) read your post and called up to make me pay up. Fair is fair. a case is 24 right? cheers When I got my first "save", the guy said he wasn't giving me any booze, because it was my first and I owed him beer. 21. At PIA, I tried the ParaSim Virtual Reality Parachute Simulator and got a double mal. Three grand over College Station Texas I had all my handles out and no canopy. I got the smart bomb simulation. I came to rest at an altitude of -5ft (just one foot shy of "6 ft under"). The SSK ride operator apologized and kinda sent me on my way. He seemed rattled. I was glowing that I had lived and had kept my handles. The next booth was AirTec. I encouraged them to get Systems Technology to incorporate the new cypres2 into there simulations, cause it would have saved my virtual life. The adorable blonde just smiled and nodded. I called the DZO, at my home DZ, on his cell phone. He was doing dinner load, so he announced my bounce. I heard someone ask "how far did he track?". Did anyone else do any virtual gravedigging on the campus of Texas A&M? "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk

    PIA wardrobe

I have a coworker that always expects me to notice any new clothes she gets. And then she demands that I ask how much it costed. She is proud of all the bargins she gets. She also prompts me for how "cute" the items are. I think she is into retail therapy, because this happens weekly. So every day since I returned from PIA, I go into her office to model another new t-shirt and say "go ahead, guess how much it cost." Most were freebies. I reckon his can go on for at least another week. "See the piggy with the goggles and earrings? Isn't it just adorable?" 23. I regret missing your seminar. I only went to the rigging seminars, but I enjoyed hearing you talk about the dogs, while I was loitering at the the CPS booth. The video of the tandem plus pooch was great! "And the sky is blue and righteous in every direction" Survivor Chuck Palahniuk
