  1. Never get mad at a troll on dz.com. It's pointless and embarrasing.
  2. Looks like a blast!. Gorgeous country.
  3. Sucks to be unemployed and facing heavy fines! LOL
  4. Remember when vampires were dangerous and cool instead of sparkly and gay?
  5. I've been searching since I posted this thread and Yeah that's about what I've come up with as well. It's not worth the added expense. It's either too bulky when packing or it cracks and wears off. The only paint I found with half a chance is this stuff http://www.dmcolor.com/products/?id=15 It's used to paint flowers primarily but some F-111 kite makers have been using it also. The big wall is the difference between treated and non-treated nylon. The treated stuff repels water, paint, ink, etc. If it was untreated you wouldn't have ZP canopies. I assume that's why tie-dyed parachutes didn't last long?
  6. I still have a tough time wrapping my head around that one. A skydiver ripping off another skydiver??? Damn. That's lower than low. I hope anyone who would do that ends up bouncing... or hit by a truck. Whichever comes first. It happens more often then you think. So in other words, lock up your kitbag and all other loose items in your truck while on a jump... I suppose even a pack matt & lawn chair isn't safe anymore?

  8. IF a canopy were to be silk-screened, what type of paint or ink is used? MAYBE... If I can find on old canopy that's no longer air worthy and see if using the silk screen ink (or paint) would work if thinned and applied with an airbrush. I've painted fabric before but it was cotton or spandex. And it's certainly thin enough. I've made some pretty large stencils for banners too... for rock bands in L.A. It could be fun to get a white container and paint it with the airbrush! I know that would work and would work well.
  9. I had a late 80's Talon and it was a great rig. My main was a Lazer 7 220, similar to what is in this rig, and I had a round reserve. That rig, since it has been inspected, repaired and certified by Rigging Innovations is probably serviceable. I'd have a master rigger inspect the canopies but they're likely to be serviceable as well. It may be ugly, but as long as it passes inspection, I'd jump it. I'd probably replace the main asap tho. Oh, I wouldn't pay what he's asking either. It may be worth the $500 R.I. charged him for repairs & certification but that's it.
  10. This is what I had in mind. http://www.dropzone.com/photos/Detailed/Gear/Just_a_Fantasy_My_Celtic_Dragon_Gear_118313.html
  11. Has anyone here ever put custom graphics on a new canopy they were buying? I was wondering if PD did it and what the cost was? The only info I could find on the subject was on this page -->http://www.americanparagliding.com/wingart.htm
  12. Twice in less than 150 jumps. None since.
  13. I didn't say that. And STFU, boy. I don't need your lack of wisdom telling me what is what. You know shite. Piss off.
  14. that's about the dumbest shit i've ever heard in my lifetime.. Hey, thanks for your opinion. You must be surrounded by some of the most intelligent and well educated Ivy Leaguers on the planet. Good for you.
  15. Absolutely true. I wouldn't deny that for a second. I guess I just feel that somehow there is a difference between hanging on a front riser for 720 degrees and building up a ton a speed coming straight towards the ground before swooping out of it at the last fraction of a second, and a ground launch where the speed is built up relatively slowly and never reaches swoop speed. (whew! long sentence)
  16. I'll do that. Thanks. When I first saw BOC puds in '89 I didn't like 'em. I prefered the stock orange plastic handle merely because it feels different than the rest of the rig. A cordura pud can feel just like the corner of the container. It just didn't appeal to me. BUT, it's been so long that I may as well get used to the preferred configuration for both FF and wingsuit flying, which it seems is the BOC pud. That said, IF the hacky doesn't move, I don't see the big deal. I like the round shape of a hacky better. Again, it feels different.
  17. This whole thread was an interesting read. I'm even more convinced than ever that a 190 to 170 is plenty small enough to have fun with after a 20+ year layoff. Ground launching is the only thing I'd want one of those little Divot-Maker 80s(or whatever) for.
  18. Yup. I remember a pic in the 82d Airborne Parachute Club of a bunch of guys hanging all over both wings and the top of a what I think was a DC3. It kinda freaked me out as a student... but so did the photo of a 100 way. I thought to myself "No way in HELL!!" lol
