Interesting. I've put several jumps on two different pilots, and while I'm a big fan of the canopy, I do feel like I'd like a bit more flare compared to some of the other caopies I've jumped(storm, sabre2, stiletto). I'm also a deep flarer and go all the way to the bottom of the stroke, so I don't think that was the problem. Anyway, the reason I decided to try the Safire2 is that I've heard numerous times that the flare is really nice; even better than the pilot. Was that not your experience? My wife jumps a Sabre2 150 and I like it but I'm looking for something a bit larger and I like Safire and Pilot for their reputation for soft/on heading openings. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -
Congrats and I couldn't agree with you more. Good luck with the rest of your training

Any dropzone in Europe using Cessna 402 airplane?
Throttlebender replied to hjortur's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Exactly, and the added time needed to properly cool turbos would add a lot of time between loads. You can't just chop the throttles and dive or you'll shock-cool the engines and that's no good. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

Mircan, Yes, that's a bit too small for me, but thanks anyway -
Same shop that ya find talking snakes and burning bushes. I can't guarantee it because I heard it from a guy on a big zoo boat, who heard it from some guy in a whale, who apparently heard it from some other guy that saw the shop on his way to part some sea for a group of people that needed to get to the other side. I hear ya Chuck, and I'm sure there ARE fewer on the market than some of the others. But having never heard anything negative about the Safire2, I can only make the reasonable assumption that they are in fact, LOVED. For my sake, I wish a bit less so. See that's just wrong! Ya can't be that fashion forward in skydiving. It just doesn't go with all the mismatched combinations of black and neon I'm used to seeing. And YES, I'm very jealous now. Those are great colors. THERE, are ya happy? Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

Pilot or Safire? I know you're a fan of the Pilot. I like it also but since I'm selling my rig and building a new one, I thought I would check out the Safire. I'm hoping to get just a wee bit more flare than the 2 pilots I've flown had to offer. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

I'm seeing plenty of Pilots for sale which is my second choice(and current canopy on the rig I'm selling) but finding a good used Safire2 160-169 is a pain in the butt Just needed to grumble for a sec. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

And unless there is a special waiver I'm not familiar with, the aircraft has to be equipped for RVSM(reduced vertical separation minimums) to fly above FL280(28,000ft) legally. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -
That's the point. He had no need to comply. It's called The Constitution. Free Legal Member of society....not second class citizen to be subjected to the whims of ANY govt agency. Especially in this situation where it is obviously an expectation that we should shut up and comply. Ridiculous. When people begin to meekly "comply" to govt demands, we slowly begin to be stripped of the very things that have historically made this a great place to live. And that movie quote is a prime example of the problem. You're not necessarily better than the American standing next to you in line at the grocery merely because you chose to make soldiering your profession. Neither is the border guard. In some cases it's quite an honorable profession but it doesn't place you above anything. "Comply?" Why? Because you said so? That's how tyranny takes hold around the world. I don't carry an M4 but in my job I do things that help to ensure the freedoms of this nation and I would never be so arrogant in making a statement like the one you so proudly quoted.
