You are missing the point. There is no issue with buying used set of DVD's. There is a big issue with buying illegal copies of the DVD's and that is one of the options you requested. Very tacky and wrong. The people involved in the making of those DVD's most likely frequent this website. Just imagine yourself being on their end this deal! The skydiving community is pretty small and you just made yourself look like an asshole. No, I get it. That's why I rescinded the request for a burned copy. Learn To Freefly instructional DVD series
Throttlebender replied to Throttlebender's topic in Safety and Training
Or instead of stealing you could just buy copies legally. If you can afford to skydive you can probably afford to pay the people that put the time and effort into producing and distributing them. Or I could buy someone's used copy and the result is exactly the same. But please read this clearly....I rescind my request for a burned copy. OK OK...I surrender Good points guys. But in the end I don't really think it's any different. The bottom line is that a manfacturer is making one less sale on any item, tangible or not, whether you know him or not, whether it's in your sport or not every time someone buys used or copied. I wasn't trying to start a fight then or now. I'm just trying to save a little money where I can in a seemingly endless sea of expense. No offense intended. But think about the rationale being used the next time you buy anything that's not brand new. It gets hazy rather quickly. Enjoy your videos guys. Dude, it's a little different when a lot of us happen to know the guy who put the series together (Joao Tambor) and whose pocket you would be picking with your request. Well, it's always gonna be someone's pocket that's being "picked" whether you know them or not. If I were in the market for a mountain bike and you had an old one for sale, wouldn't that be denying the bike maker a new sale? What about any used item that a person no longer wants? Is it alright for someone to sell their copies if they are getting out of the sport or feel they no longer need them? I completely understand looking out for a friend's interests, but where do you draw the line? When is it ok and when is it not? And who decides? QuoteSo pretty much you're asking people to infringe on someone else's intellectual property rights by burning some DVD's and selling them to you at a reduced cost? I seriously hope no one considers helping this dude steal someone else's IP.[/repl That's fine. I'll rescind the request for a burned copy. And I'm certain you've never asked anyone to burn a CD or DVD of any sort for you and never accepted a mixed "tape" from a friend.......right Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

Anyone out there have one or all of this series of instructional dvds? If so, I'm looking to buy used originals or even burned copies please. Feel free to PM me so that we can work something out. Thanks Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

Oh I know what it is. Just chaps my ass to see something go from a nice price to a higher price at a lesser value when I would have loved to have had it. I would have loved it and pet it and squeezed it and named it George. Oh well Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

Already bought a rig. It just sucks a bit because I was pretty excited about having found that one originally and then to have it sell out from under me by only fifteen minutes and then price jacked. Oh well, someone will pay the new price I'm certain. Capitalism at it's finest. It reminds me of real estate speculation. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

Just needing to vent for a second. I'm not against anyone making money but I had a rig sell out from under me a couple of weeks ago while trying to buy a first rig and just saw it back up for sale with a $1200 price increase and with a slightly less expensive main....and without the extra goodies that it originally sold with. Shit That is all. Carry on. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

Pilot flies under skydivers on final
Throttlebender replied to bodypilot90's topic in Safety and Training
Definitely don't assume a pilot has done that. I've got 5000 hrs and until I started diving two months ago, I will admit I never gave divers much thought. Sure I'd vector around an airport when I heard ATC call for jumpers at a particular time. And, I've landed and taken off on several while looking hard for landing canopies, but I never really "understood" til I was on the other side. I don't think most pilots realize just how strung out a run of divers can get and I've definitely seen some erratic patterns being flown. It's good to learn:) Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

Perhaps it falls under any "aircraft" that is lower and/or slower and closer to the airport having the right of way. Now are parachutists considered "aircraft" at this point?.......I would say yes. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -

We both took our check dives on the same load and then went back up for a 3 way with one of the instructors to celebrate. Gorgeous day for it and it feels great to have gotten to this marker. Now it's on to more more more and more jumps......and debt Work Stinks Boogie in a couple of weeks!! Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin -
The other guys nailed it. Stared training for a new career in aviation at 29. It's been 11 yrs now and I would consider myself successful but also very lucky. I know many that have not been. Go hang out at airports and make connections. That's the way to succeed. It really is about who you know....although it doesn't hurt to be a good pilot as well Good luck Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

Good job Melissa! It's so great isn't it?! I just completed jump 15 and have completed all of my requirements. I could just do 10 solos and be finished but definitely want to do more coach jumps and learn more. Different paths to the same place I suppose Cheers Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

You got it Frank Just did jump 15 today(H-2) and it was swooping docks, level changes, and tracking. Diving exit which is so much more fun than floating or poised exit. And I am addicted to tracking. The feeling of breaking off, turning 180 and then launching out across the sky is just too much fun. Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
